I was wondering the same thing and I know it came up a bunch when the show was still live but they handled it beautifully in the edit. Even though we now know that Simmons most likely plagiarized the book from a YouTube video using voice to text there was enough creepy and questionable physical behavior in the Tank to make anyone uncomfortable. Combine his uncomfortable physical activity with the words published in a book credited to him and it's fully justified to have him removed for the safety of the contestants. Even if it was still a joke to Sam and Jet.

He had plenty of opportunity to defend himself and give his side of the story. Survivor and Big Brother have been removed contestants for much less..

Let's be totally real here there is nothing Simmons could have said that would have changed Sam's mind about throwing him off. He had already been weird physical with Jon (and vice versa as seen above) which made it super easy to believe he was a pervert. Him saying "umm actually I didn't write that I stole it!" wouldn't have convinced anyone. He could have done a better job at trying to explain himself but I doubt it would have made a difference. Remember at the time everyone thought he was guilty. Even this own thread save for maybe 1 or 2 posters totally bought into it.

This is moving a lot slower than I thought.

i expect the post-jon episodes to cover a fuck load more days. but its either extend the length (survivor is doing 90 minute episodes now!) or add more episodes. but yes, the episode/day is way too short. The only thing i'm thinking is that because its so reliant on the HD cameras they know the later days have less footage or less useable footage. just in general reality shows are an hour. only the fakest/stupidest ones do a half hour for episodes. so it has to be a production/editing problem on their end. beyond that its an hour of footage of 3 days at most.

Episode 3 is such a dramatic improvement over the first two episodes, I'm very glad. Here's hoping that Jet and co continue on an upwards trajectory and keep getting better at editing over time instead of this being a once off home run. The soul gaze bit was hilarious, juxtaposed between Sam and the ominous music.

Key notes:
1. No noticable random jumps back and forward in time (and if there were, they weren't communicated to the audience to be disorienting)
2. No close ups of literal shit
3. Basically no Damiel being shoehorned in simply because he's friends with them

If the rest of the series can deliver on level similar to this episode then it will definitely make up for the beginning.

Isn't this literal slander? Simmons is clearly not saying what they are captioning and they are heavily implying he wrote a book about dating kids when he didn't.
