Seems like they tried to meet a certain time with this episode, awkward pacing.
They're definitely trying to keep each episode within 30 minutes, like a network show but there's absolutely no reason why. This will never get picked up by a network, and if it did they would want to edit it again anyway to make it more accessible for a normie audience.

I don't think they've done a bad job so far but they haven't done anything great with it either. The episodes aren't long enough. Big Brother has two episodes per week, and both are an hour long.

They need to edit the season as it's happening. Even if they want to wait to release the episodes several months after the conclusion, they should be editing segments together as it's happening and form smaller narratives as the larger one is unfolding. That way they can see what works and what doesn't and get an idea where things are heading. Get three solid interns who are good with managing files and can create rough cuts.

I don't see a way for them to get to Frank Hassle from this episode in 8 more episodes.
I think they're heavily prioritizing the moments they scripted successfully and intended to happen, and that means they're going to completely let go of things that don't add to that very limited narrative. It's kind of cringe, the amount of emphasis they are putting on the choreographed shark bits and on the things they gave Damiel to say.

If I was going to give an arc to fishtank that gives airtime to whole the length of the show I wouldn't lean so hard into the conflict with Damiel, because it has to end by the 5th episode or else they're really making the whole thing extremely front-heavy. I guess they think it went over way better than it did, but most people I talk to say that Damiel was lazy and slept most of the time and didn't go over this well during the show.

My current guess - ep.1 was day 1, ep. 2 was day 2 &3, ep 3 will be simmons getting kicked, ep 4 will be jon getting kicked, ep. 5 will be letty fighting with sylvia, ep 6 will be damiel getting kicked, ep 7 chris, ep 8 frank, ep 9 Sylvia gets kicked, ep 10 jet skips straight to the fucking finale cuz he's out of time

edit: Letty posted this this evening, I think just after the episode, then quickly deleted it

It's probably presumptive to say that it's got anything to do with the episode, but it's sorta plausible that it is considering it's got Damiel calling Letty a bitch and saying he would punch Sylvia. She's gotta be hoping that the show contains as much of post-ep-20 as possible as that was when she hit her stride, and watching the show dawdle makes that seem out of reach.

edit: made a correction because I remembered this photo of episode 5

Iirc jet said he would have the community help him pick out the best moments to include in the Final Cut. It’s important to remember that there is a good possibility (assuming that is the case) that the majority sam fanbase will decide what’s worth having and what isn’t.

I anticipate the crowd favorite moments will start influencing the later episodes as things start to pick up. A LOT of viewers really loved damiel so do expect to see plenty of him coming up. Expect More Damiel, lots of Jon, and Josie and less everyone else.

Ep2 is an improvement, mostly because it has a bit more to work with.
Yet, I do not think this plays well to the uninitiated.
I think they save runtime by jumping around the linear continuity, but it would have been better to have stuck to a linear chronology. Episodes would be longer, but you get the opportunity to at least hint at the flow-state of the viewing experience, the fish wake up, sleep, harassed by TTS, get prompts, bothered by sharks and Goldstriker.
Some real classic stuff from the live experience has no chance of seeping into the show; Morgue, Orb posters etc.
They sacrifice a lot for runtime, but its hard to convey what makes the show compelling if your high-level goal is a fast-moving edit.

Honestly eight episodes was always way too short of a target, given this was a six week operation 12 episodes would have made more sense so you have two episodes per week with a tick-tock rhythm of the week's setup and ramping up being on the tick and the challenge conclusions or megadrama being on the tock, gives the entire thing more room to breathe editing wise and it would have allowed more space to show some of the user interactive bits as a way to subtly entice people into going to the site and registering/buying in during season 2.

I think the main problem with the documentary so far is that it's pretty much centred around the challenges and character development is more or less non-existent when all the different personalities involved was probably the reason that drew people to watch in the first place (I mean, nobody fondly reminisces about the rice counting challenge or the essays, but people remember all the weird interactions that already went down by then). I don't know what they are trying to accomplish with the documentary, but it pretty much just seems like some HD footage (at times, too HD) cut together for hardcore fans. Normies won't be able to get into it because if you aren't already familiar with the show, the footage won't make much sense. Like, as far as I know, they haven't even mentioned what the goal of the show is. 8 people just arrived at a house and are hanging out. Nobody has mentioned that the show is supposed to last for 42 days. Adding to it the fact that they don't seem to really flesh out the personalities of contestants makes the whole thing pretty much inaccessible to potential new audience.

it’s ten I believe with the last one airing the week before s2

I think they pivoted to calling it the “documentary” instead of an edited version because it really does work better as some crew POV for the original and not any kind of adaptation of it. On that note I’d really like to see some more basement footage/BTS.

Yeah, it would definitely be interesting to see how they reacted to various events in the basement and discussed whether they should interfere or not. Too bad we ain't gonna get it, because at some point Jet tweeted that they didn't really shoot anything in the basement because in his words not showing the basement "adds to mystery" or something of the effect. In reality, they were probably busy being zonked out on whatever and living in squalor down there, so there wasn't much to film about.

Or maybe they didn't want to add vlogging their time down their to the already super heavy workload of being up 15 hours a day and shooting shit?

I mean I get that argument but to be fair, the majority of shooting is done by mounted cameras.

I really think they should have a mounted camera downstairs that's offline, just so if Something Happens they'll have it, since they're already going about the business of mounting cameras everywhere else.
Like I imagine a shot of Josie's plushies hitting the landing at mach 10 would have been good, or there was a rumor about Damiel and Jon fighting down there during the Simmons cooldown party.

Not going to watch the episodes and probably never will. Sure, the HD footage and the interviews would be nice to look at. But it ain't the unique livestream I witnessed and tuned in regularly. Not to mention the Sneedchat, where I chilled with other kiwitards and shitpost to my heart's content without autistic fedposting (KILL *contestant*) and goyper retardation. (>Faguentes, YE2024 sperging, etc.)

Now that some of the footage with Simmons in it is coming out with the episodes it's a good time remind people that the "evidence" he was a pedophile were out of context excerpts from a book he plagiarized about being a camp counselor. The major claim was that he wrote in the camping book tips on how counselors could date campers which was not true. It was a witch hunt. People saw him dressing up in drag and dug through his online presence to find something to twist into him being a pedophile. They dug up "his" shitty ESL book and lied/distorted what was in it. Sam and Jet fully bought into the chantard hysteria because they aren't super bright and threw him off the show upsetting the entire house to the point where they had to turn off the cameras that night and give them booze. Jon got blackout drunk that night thinking he befriended a child rapist and was super sick. Sylvia cried. Mauro left that night. Sam's hysterical reaction easily could have ruined the entire show.

TLDR: Simmons isn't a pedophile just a Chinese moron with a bad grasp of English with autism and Sam is a retard for blowing things up with him like he did.

I'm still amazed it didn't turn into a libel lawsuit.

Who was that one poster from months ago that was like, the only one defending Simmons saying that the pedo allegations were pretty exaggerated? I wanna give him some kudos, it takes some balls to go against the general consensus of the thread like he did at the time.

Even if he wasn't a pedo, he grabbed a whole fistful of Vance's ass cheek, and somehow ended up being the guy to give Jon a foot rub and whole body massage. At best he was a handy faggot who was, as I think Sam put it, a "liability"?

huh??? for real?? wait...I remember the body massage!!!! Why the fuck did that never set off alarm bells in my head. What the fuck is wrong with me.

I'd say this but I think there should be scheduled periods where the cam is online too, I just want to confirm that my buddies down in the basement are hard at work. :)

Airsoftfatty was a massive liability and Sam had no issue bringing him on the show. It's a miracle he didn't assault someone or die of a heart attack on camera. He also brought on a real life homeless guy (not dontarius the black crackhead before him) and let him roam around the house.
