Really enjoyed the first episode! Am I the only one who burst out laughing when Simmons said that his uncle was his best friend when he was a kid? lmao

That was so fucking unexpected but fits in so well with the creepy shit. Really funny.

is she going for the no eyebrows clown look thinking its attractive? or is it some sort of hipster thing i do not understand
She started doing noise at like fifteen/seventeen and gradually shifted to like punk over time. She does like makeup tutorial videos online. She accidentally went into a scientology museum once.

What I want to know is who watches her makeup tutorial videos? Who is trying to emulate that look? I get that she's a female noise "musician" which means she gets period cramps and screams into various effect pedals in a venue with five people a couple times a year. People will go see her perform because she's the opening act and it's pouring rain outside. She might even make a couple dollars from the show. But who wants to copy her makeup? I'm sure there are literal circus clowns who do it better. There are juggalo makeup tutorials that get a high number of views. The only explanation I can think for why anyone would ever watch her makeup video is that they're the biggest simp alive.

I don't know why she does her makeup like that other than it's a satanic feminist thing. Society tells you to be a housewife and cook a man dinner so to fight back against the sexist patriarchy you stop wearing a bra and shaving your legs. Then you get disgusting piercings and ugly tattoos. Then you make an OnlyFans. Then other satanic freak girls who look exactly like you show up at the experimental noise shows so you have to come up with even more hideous ways to virtue signal that you're fighting the patriarchy harder than them. This is when some girls troon out and start taking testosterone until they grow a mustache. Others make themselves increasingly uglier until they turn into a literal fat deformed clown.

I'm still wondering if they'll license the episodes to a streaming service, it would be funny to see it randomly appear on Tubi.

Watched a few minutes of Betty's Twitch stream and she's actually decent at it now? She was watching a true crime video and discussing it with chat, she even had notes. You can't subscribe to her so if she'd do it more often to unlock subs she might do okay with her cult following.

Now that the dust has settled and the enthusiasm from getting the first new Fishtank content in months has subsided, I decided to rewatch the pilot episode and have a few concerns.

I know the consensus here is that it was mostly ok, and I’m not editor, so I will steer clear of critiquing stylistic choices such as music and shading. Keep in mind that this is only the first episode, so a lot of this is speculation. I hope to be proven wrong on some of these concerns with episodes in the future.

First problem is the lack of background information. If you were to show this to somebody off the street they would have no idea what it is or what it’s attempting to do. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t have some interviews with Jet or Sam telling the audience the concept of the show. Even a simple rundown would’ve been fine. I saw a few people outside of this thread say that it felt like bonus content for fans of the show rather than an actual stand alone piece of content. We all know nothing can compare to watching FT live, but at the pace things are going there might not even be any context for future arcs and conflicts.

Second of all, there’s going to be ten episodes. If each episode is around 30 minutes such as this one then there are going to be possibly hundreds of funny moments that we miss out on. Normally this wouldn’t be a concern because with any other production they would prioritize the most beloved and important things first, but just to remind you, they edited out the skit challenge. The first major challenge and one of two major parts in the first 9 days (the other being the baby challenge). If they edit that out what else are they going to edit out?

Those are the two major things that I can think of. Do any of you guys feel the same or am I just retarded?

I've yet to re-watch. Still, I do generally agree.
They had the problem that the first day had close to nothing happening and they dealt with that by adding lots of BTS and unseen footage, that does kind of work. Yet, the issue is that day 1 sucks outside of the novelty live-experience at the time.
I was a bit surprised that they didn't add something akin to the trailer as an introduction. I think that's a good point, that they are sort of lost in their own continuity and fail to see this with fresh eyes, in that way the edited show is a bit more of a mess and serves mostly as a 'remember this' to season 1 live viewers who can connect it to that experience.

a simple rundown would’ve been fine.
They probably should have had Sam's voice over from the trailer play somewhere to give people info about what fishtank is.

There's going to be loss of a lot of funny stuff in the edited version, but I'm fine with that if the stuff they've edited in is funnier or made funnier with context from the basement interviews. Overall it has been good enough so far for me.

I'm regarded, does this mean buying a S1 pass gets you access to 1 and 2? And buying a S2 pass also gives you access to 1 and 2?

Because if a S1 pass only gets you eps for S1, and a S2 pass gets you 1 and 2 but is the same price... lol
S1 pass lets you do everything right now as the episodes come out.
S2 pass gets you 1 and 2 but is $60 and I think auto-renews in 6 months for season 3.

Having watched the first episode, that's exactly what it is. It's made for the people who already watched S1 and just want to watch it again. No thought was ever put into this being shown to people who have never heard of Fishtank much less seen it.

E1 was OK I guess, I don't think I'll watch the rest of the episodes. It's really just so much better to have seen it live.

True, things will be missed, but what I’m personally looking forward to is a fan edit (the files were sorted shitty but everything was there). Hell, it’s how we know a 2nd swatting happened anywho I expect to see an autistic fan edit at some point.
