In other news, Josie, Fatty, and Damiel will be at the Mondo Megabits rave in New York. Jet invited Josie yesterday sometime before she went live and superchatted $5 (lol) asking if he should set up a My Little Pony rave playlist for her.

Josie said she wants to do an IRL stream in NYC which may be interesting as she is very naive when it comes to the homeless. I'm curious if she is seen being high or otherwise influenced and how that may impact her viewership.

KingcobraJFS being on Fishtank was never going to work. Even if you could manage to get him out of his apartment and sober enough to get through the airport the second TTS at the house started to mock him he would want to leave. His ego is super fragile and he would need to be handled with kids gloves. It would mess up the whole flow of the show. I wish it could work because I think he's extremely funny and could bring alot to the show but it just wouldn't work.

Chris is fucking terrible, Jet wasn't good as Nick's cohost but he was leagues better than Chris. I've been watching scuffed realtor for a good while, and the live viewers dropped to around 2k, with jet they were around 4500. Not sure how much the numbers of viewers matter to them, they still close house reviews pretty quickly. And not sure with sam, I think he sticks to the PGL podcast instead of doing much in the way of youtube stuff.
Not sure if that helps much, but I just wanted to tell what i did know.

I actually don't hate that he's talking about "advancing culture." It sounds egotistical and stupid if you only consider Fishtank, but MDE has always been fighting the culture war. It's obvious to anyone paying attention but Sam has explicitly talked about the battle and what's at stake.

People who haven't followed Sam's career most likely don't realize that he's been constantly driven by a passion to fight back against current pop culture. It's what motivated him to keep going and push through after the deplatforming and blacklisting. There's a ton you can criticize the zoomers for but their most important role has been helping Sam stay relevant to a younger audience. I could write another post about how they've been successful with that job but it seems pretty obvious.

So Jet saying he's working on advancing culture isn't a lie. If he's implying that he is personally advancing culture with his Fishtank project well, that's a bit of a stretch and pretty comical. I agree that he's more suited for middle management and isn't a leader. Right now he's part of an undefeatable winning team, playing his part, and as long as he keeps passing the ball to Sam at the right time they'll keep winning. I'm pretty sure Jet was just parroting something he heard Sam say anyway because that's all he pretty much ever does.

I tend to agree with most of what you said but I believe you're giving Jet too much credit.

Josie privated her IRL streams for whatever reasons but they weren't that notable aside from being IRL streams and seeing her car. She tended to maintain 300+ viewers and got up near 500 at one point, maybe even breaking it briefly. I think she was testing the waters more than anything and viewers enjoyed the novelty of it.
She did a good job dealing with technical hiccups, having a functional setup and keeping up with general chat. Super chats weren't handled as well but she acknowledged that the way they were presented sucked.

Last night she went live on Instagram to update "Top Bloke" since she didn't do her usual Friday stream. The new one is dokkaebi_1 who has made fan art for awhile and is active in the community. The stream was an hour long as she also ran around in her backyard, did an incidental nighttime tour of her house and ran down the sidewalk for post apocalyptic roleplay out of nowhere.
I know Josie haters would think all of that is legitimately retarded but she pulled 80+ viewers constantly on an unannounced stream in the dead of the night for her viewers. She's engaging, if anything.

To me advancing culture means introducing new ideas to a medium that become widespread through imitation, or refining existing ideas to a higher quality. These projects are either big hits, or cult classics that influence other creatives. And they don't need to be high culture. Some examples- Shakespeare (innovative), The Blair Witch Project (refinement), Dwarf Fortress (influential but not widely popular).

Fishtank's pitch is Twitch Plays Big Brother, so no for innovation. Is it a refinement of the locked together reality show format? Ehh not from what I saw. It seems like Jet meant introducing new e-celebs rather than just using existing e-celebs for easy views. I'd call that culture churning though, since you're still working in the conventional e-celeb parasocial model that defines current online entertainment.

That Fishtak is one of the more innovative, experimental projects in Internet entertainment is more of a bad mark for e-tainment than a badge for Fishtank. Reality TV shows are simple content networks make when there's writers strikes since all you need is some retards to film and editors to add sound effects.
