I know it's old news at this point because they already did it for the first one but pay-walling something as simple as chat is such a grimy move

I can't get mad at them for raising the prices because even if they double it every season people will still happily pay without even thinking about it. I haven't spent a penny on Fishtank and never will, just like I will never pay to download any other digital content. It's just something I don't do and it hasn't prevented me from accessing anything. For everyone like me there are five people who don't even consider the price of something and just buy it every time. They'll buy the season pass and additional DLC for games they haven't even played. Let them waste their money.

I got more out of posting in this thread for free than I would have gotten from the official chat behind a pay wall. Paypigs are pathetic and they deserve to be exploited.

Big brother at its very worst most price gouging was only $40 for the whole season. And this was back in 2002 when it was unheard of to live stream, and you'd have roughly 3 months of voyeurism instead of a handful of weeks. I know idiots will pay but its insane, i highly doubt it will truely be that profitable. my 2nd favorite part is billed every 6 months, meaning they know they're going to end up charging most of these tards at least 2x because of some processing fuckup. So they're paying a zoomer $120 to see some 'tists interact with each other for a couple weeks while being harrassed by the crew. At least with Big Brother you were guaranteed to see everyone naked and a few people fucking and slurs, and for a 3rd of the price.

I paid for season 1 but everything I see them put out about season 2 is discouraging. Fishtank isn't a charity, what's with helping "keep Fishtank alive?" Jet boasted about how much they made from season 1, after all.
 
I think they're going to really go for price-gouging on season 2, I can't blame them if those loot boxes for Josie were real and not the crew buying them. This could be a trainwreck or better than season 1, we shall see.

Betty's been streaming on Twitch instead of Youtube for some reason, I checked in and she seems to be doing it more for fun than anything else. (Shutting down her Discord was a very smart idea).
 
Just saw the new price post for the new season. Guess I won't be in chat with you frens this time or any time soon. It would be nice if they have like a $30-35 price point to just get the final cut of the episodes for people with jobs and shit.
 
Why bother purchasing the official chat, when Null will most likely create another KF chat for us to sneed in.

I'm strictly interested in getting the episode cut to watch with my wife. Having chat was fun to sperg in I guess but only because it was part of the package deal. Wouldn't have ever paid for it by itself.

They will probably do this later on. The purpose of a season pass was to have access to all of the content at a slightly reduced rate instead of just buying one or two add ons. Everything should be available separately down the road. You'll still be able to purchase Season One edits without a season pass.

There are so many other things they could do to keep milking the season one audience for more $$$$ but they don't have enough staff over at Big Topp Produktionz LLC or whatever Sam named the company. You'd think there would be at least one disgruntled former CBS employee with reality show experience who would want to join the team. But really this is an independent production with a small budget compared to any other reality show.

Big Brother might only charge $40 for their all access pass but they have a million people who are going to buy it every single season, and they have actual sponsors and advertisers.

Yeah we all give Jet shit but he's pretty much carrying this project on his back.
 
I don't mind paying to support things existing, I don't think FT is on the ledge or anything but maybe they think that without Josie and with the inevitable S2 scale-up they're going to end up overbudget. Like imagine they do the RFID bracelets and heartbeat monitors and shit they were talking about, or building a soundstage, that would be expensive, even if it's all investments which can be re-used in future seasons.

But yeah generally I like to "vote with my wallet" in the positive sense. If I spend $40 on a game I play for 30 hours I can pay $60 towards a show I watch for over 300 hours.
 
I spent exactly 0 dollars during Fishtank season 1 and still had a fantastic time just chatting with you guys in our little Kiwi chat. Will most likely do that again.

Hindsight being what it is, I think a lot of the fish toys were from the crew. It wouldn't surprise me at all if most of them were. A lot of them sure were conveniently timed and the crates often had convenient items.

The chat was and will be garbage. Kiwifarms was (and is) where it's at.

Today is Josie's birthday and she's probably going to do a birthday stream but was up exceptionally early this morning liking birthday posts on Twitter so... we'll see. There's been no official word, just a passing mention of the possibility and poll on Friday's stream.
Fans are sharing birthday art and she's been abnormally active liking them on Twitter.
It's fun that she's fostered a little community of her own.

She retweeted a video DewkyShewt posted with myriad references. The most overt being to a deleted video of hers, Superhands Worldwide, which was probably made for a friend's birthday 5 years ago. This is relevant now as a forced meme in /ftl/ and was referenced in DewkyShewt's previous edit which is also referenced in the new video. Very much #iykyk.
It's weird that fans have honed in on a deleted video for a personal friend from years ago but it's a running gag at this point.

The original video is a dog whistle of sorts among some of her hardcore fans. Here, the emoji representations of her friends are shown dead on ice floats along with a torn pirate flag which presumably represents one of her longtime friend groups. In the water you can make out a reference to old art that references Winston. Edgy in a very niche way. I would love Josie's take on these things because it's weird in a "haha" way and weird in a "why are you so focused on my friends?" way.

The gory dino fan art is more tasteful and that's saying something.

I can understand them wanting to get a fishtank tattoo (although I think that's gay) but the thing is.... their logo fucking sucks, it is so ugly. Should have spent more than 30 minutes designing it maybe
