With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I'll give a highbrow review of Mr. Nontent's second stream, seeing as the direction of the thread and the "competition" from here on is going to be seeing what the contestants manage to do with their attention.

Vance says he will do late night "secret" streams on Sunday, probably in lieu of ones where he has an actual agenda. He then proceeds to do what is essentially prop humor using the internet as the prop, by blundering through a bunch of websites looking for the right leafblower to buy and, because the internet is fucking weird, basically playing safari guide on all the weird things he finds.

During the middle section a few of the paypigs begin trolling parasocial retard Dylan Adams by pretending to be him. It works, some-fucking-how, and Adams starts spewing out money to assert to Vance that he's really Dylan Adams and that Vance is just being trolled, Vance pretends he didn't realize which encourages Adams to pay even more out.

I didn't count but I think Vance made about $350-400, helped in huge part by the Dylan Adams fight. Without that, it seemed to falter at about $200. He peaked at about 350 views but said he had deliberately was trying to make it a small stream so he could figure things out. I would say it was pretty good on the whole, compared to last time and the Letty and Josie stream he has worked out the rhythm of reading superchats and giving himself something silly to do for the duration of the two hours.

edit: jet tweeted this but it was deleted. I think in season 2 they should probably do a bit more work on debriefing fish when they leave the tank and reminding them like, there won't be time for anyone to apologize while they're still in the tank, and how much of it is done "for the show" and how they'll regret coming out and being salty and angry as soon as they meet each other again outside the tank.

This is pretty funny, he should milk Dylan for all he can.

As for that deleted Jet tweet, I read that Betty changed her name and someone sniped her original name so that's who Jet tagged. He was clear that Betty was at the party in general.

I'm not really surprised that Letty has no hard feelings towards Betty, she doesn't seem the type to hold a grudge. What I am a bit surprised about is Sam and Co inviting Betty to an after party when it sounded like they (or at least Sam) didn't want to have anything to do with her.

That would make sense actually. Hopefully Jet doesn't come to regret inviting her. He seems to like her for whatever reason.

I've also seen no evidence that Sam didn't approve of Betty either but I haven't been following it that closely. I think their strategy is to keep all the fish close and treat them like family to avoid lawsuits and have their support going forward. All reality shows do the same thing, which is why you'll always see former contestants providing official commentary and showing up at reunions and finales.

They're also going to put them on World Peace and probably other content going forward which is a good move because they'll attract an audience more than a regular extra would. There's no reason not to do this because Fish Tank has an audience of its own.

Betty posted a Tweet a while ago about Sam be uncomfortable with her and not allowing her back on the tank. I'm too lazy to find the Tweet but essentially she said that she wanted to come back to the tank shortly after she left, and that Jet was cool with her coming back, but Sam wasn't. She didn't elaborate on what made Sam uncomfortable, but it's assumed it was due at least in part to her getting drunk and flashing her tits, since she said in another Tweet that she didn't get clearance to do that before hand and that she was called into the basement right after she did it.

Tbh it's probably back to that "machete-scalpel" thing again. Sam talked to Betty on camera once when he was doing 1-on-1s with everyone before the PSAT and told her to keep after Letty and not apologize and become friends But I think she had played every card she had, just messing with Letty's stuff and wearing her clothes and literally just wandering around breaking things, so her arc peaked when it was clear she couldn't budge Letty and was making herself look worse instead.

Maybe in contrast, why Lance was able to come back, he was 100% scalpel villian. He said on Twitter his finest moment as a clone was when Vance was painting Chris and Sam came to examine everyone's results. Lance took Vance's painting to "look at it," got up and showed it to Sam as though he had painted it himself, and then sat down and apparently Vance was very upset (even though the camera quality made that hard to see). Perfectly subtle trolling to the point of being almost too subtle. Left ample room for him to keep going because Vance wasn't going to run away from him or cuss him out based on something that small.

I like Joeyy just because he was a good producer on PGL and knew when to be quiet. Chris replaced him and the show is marginally worse because he keeps derailing conversations with uninteresting crap. Does Joeyy still work for Sam? Seems like he hasn't been involved in anything for a long time.

Pretty sure Sam was worried about the mixture of alcohol and nudity combined with the fact that she's a woman in the #metoo era.
Chris walked around the house naked multiple times but he's so fat you couldn't see anything. Damiel got his ass cheeks out while they were still on YouTube, which broke the TOS. Honestly though, Chris pushed it way past the point of it being just uncomfortable.
