Wow, amazing. This is seriously more low-effort than the Mario 3D AllStars collection.

For just an amazing purchase of $49.99 (probably, final price still pending) you too can own a copy of a shitty NES ROM from decades past. Complete with the ability to fast-forward and rewind gameplay, which have been staples in emulation for decades now. Except they're not bound to a button for quick access, you have to pause the game to do so. Comes complete with re-printed merchandise from years ago, including a Nintendo Power poster ('member that?) and NES cartridge.

What's equally baffling to me is that at he beginning of this trailer they show footage from Smash Bros Melee of Marth fighting Roy. Roy's game, The Burning Blade, has never been localized either. To this day Roy has never been in a Fire Emblem game released in the States, outside of an appearance in Fates if you scanned his amiibo (and the mobile game). To top it off, this port is entirely unnecessary because Nintendo already remade this game for the DS eleven years ago.
Fire Emblem: GBA Collection, featuring FE7 and 8 and the never before released stateside FE6, 39.99 USD.

Why is this so hard?

Hello people of KF. Newbie to FE here.

I've interested to play fe throughout this year but never actually bothered to play it.

Any recommendations?

FE 7 is a really good introduction to the series and has a pretty accessible balance, FE8 is a good follow up but falters with the ability to grind which is not a good thing to put in FE games. FE6 is also worth a try, narritively FE7 is a prequel to FE6, the game is pretty fun, but really ramps up the difficulty with some mechanics that border on unfair (units able to spawn and move and attack all on the same turn, which can fuck up your 30 play through of the mission.). All of these are fairly easy to emulate, with 6 being slightly harder as you will likely have to patch in the fan translation.

FE 9 Path of Radiance is prob the crown of Fire Emblem in terms of gameplay. Units are able to undergo a fair bit of customization with abilities, and the spendable XP mechanic can make some of the weaker units more viable. FE10 is a decent sequel to 9, it's a mixed bag in terms of how it was received in the US. Both of these are pretty playable on a potato via dolphin.

FE11 Awakening is the game the saved the franchise, it implements alot of the customization seen in 9 and 10, and has alot of good things going for it. It also introduced the concept of playable avatar characters and a emphasis on pairing up characters in a very dating sim/ship way. Due to the fact this this game saved the series, alot of these features are now standard, for better or worse. FE12 Fates is a massive mixed bag, it's interesting in that it has 3 different campaigns, but also introduced massive changes to the core gameplay, these changes were not carried over to three houses, so take that as you will.

The actual Flamenco?

Now I recall you asking people about Three Houses. But I never really stuck around for your takes on anything. I'd be interested to know though who/what your favorites are. If you care to share.
7 was my first one and really got me hooked into the series and Hector is a complete bro, but I would have to say Path of Radiance is my favorite even though I abhor the biorhythm mechanic in general. Pretty much my feelings towards the series is reflected in my post, I am grateful that Awakening saved the series, I just can't stand that it's the template for every successive game, granted I'm glad they have forgone the double mechanic.

I started with Radiant Dawn lmao. Awakening brought me back. What of Fates and Three Houses? Most familiar with the latter myself from playing it so much and so recently while the others I have a a largely superficial grasp of tbh.

Fates is a mixed bag on a few factors (the localization of it is particularly bad, I'm not a fan of the color coded weapon triangle) and the story was kinda mediocore which sort of disinterested me from finishing it. I heard the true route is pretty god but ehhhhhhh.

Three Houses had the good sense to not paywall the campaigns (well at least until the DLC), I like the inclusion of armies, even if it's a bit silly in cave and underground stages, and the plot is pretty enjoyable. I can get that quite a few people are not fans of the Persona-esque school/time management mechanics, but it's that sort of min-maxing of your units that really makes for a tight and fun campaign as opposed to endless grinding such as in 8 and Awakening. It's steps in the right direction and leads me to think they figured out a lot of what they put in Fates did not work well.

Thanks for humoring me so far. And I agree despite only having a shallow grasp of what makes a good FE game. I'd never say these things on my own but they ring true.
And now, for the final question, upon which you shall be judged forever: waifus!
Not really obviously. I hate tryhards who think their taste in something which can never be real is a source of validation

Tharja and Camilla, with consideration to Lyn and Anna

Good man! I knew I liked you. Stacey power.
I think that's it unless you wanna delve into the Edelgard-Dimitri power clash.
I actually burned out a bit on it with some of the other games I was playing, I will likely revisit Three Houses at some point.

Fates story is absolute shit and you can skip over it with the start button. Conquest has some good gameplay but other than that your not missing out

3H is well worth the money bc it’s 4 campaigns, a 5th for only $20 but you get 5 more characters you can use in all routes, plus the additional updates since launch like getting a new character to replace Seteth in CF definetly makes it worth it. Plus it comes with 25 save files
