Fire Emblem: GBA Collection, featuring FE7 and 8 and the never before released stateside FE6, 39.99 USD.Wow, amazing. This is seriously more low-effort than the Mario 3D AllStars collection.
For just an amazing purchase of $49.99 (probably, final price still pending) you too can own a copy of a shitty NES ROM from decades past. Complete with the ability to fast-forward and rewind gameplay, which have been staples in emulation for decades now. Except they're not bound to a button for quick access, you have to pause the game to do so. Comes complete with re-printed merchandise from years ago, including a Nintendo Power poster ('member that?) and NES cartridge.
What's equally baffling to me is that at he beginning of this trailer they show footage from Smash Bros Melee of Marth fighting Roy. Roy's game, The Burning Blade, has never been localized either. To this day Roy has never been in a Fire Emblem game released in the States, outside of an appearance in Fates if you scanned his amiibo (and the mobile game). To top it off, this port is entirely unnecessary because Nintendo already remade this game for the DS eleven years ago.
Why is this so hard?
Hello people of KF. Newbie to FE here.
I've interested to play fe throughout this year but never actually bothered to play it.
Any recommendations?
FE 7 is a really good introduction to the series and has a pretty accessible balance, FE8 is a good follow up but falters with the ability to grind which is not a good thing to put in FE games. FE6 is also worth a try, narritively FE7 is a prequel to FE6, the game is pretty fun, but really ramps up the difficulty with some mechanics that border on unfair (units able to spawn and move and attack all on the same turn, which can fuck up your 30 play through of the mission.). All of these are fairly easy to emulate, with 6 being slightly harder as you will likely have to patch in the fan translation.
FE 9 Path of Radiance is prob the crown of Fire Emblem in terms of gameplay. Units are able to undergo a fair bit of customization with abilities, and the spendable XP mechanic can make some of the weaker units more viable. FE10 is a decent sequel to 9, it's a mixed bag in terms of how it was received in the US. Both of these are pretty playable on a potato via dolphin.
FE11 Awakening is the game the saved the franchise, it implements alot of the customization seen in 9 and 10, and has alot of good things going for it. It also introduced the concept of playable avatar characters and a emphasis on pairing up characters in a very dating sim/ship way. Due to the fact this this game saved the series, alot of these features are now standard, for better or worse. FE12 Fates is a massive mixed bag, it's interesting in that it has 3 different campaigns, but also introduced massive changes to the core gameplay, these changes were not carried over to three houses, so take that as you will.
