Does anyone know why the fandom suddenly turned against Claude’s English VA? I know he called Edelgard fans psychopaths (and later apologized) and the sjws hate him for being in the army but what else did he do to piss people off?

I know vaguely that he gets kinda defensive over Claude, which is understandable since you do have to have empathy for the character you're voicing. Wasn't he in the Air Force? SJW can't let go of anything so it's probably the stuff you listed.

He made a tweet comparing Claude to the main character of Aladdin.

Yeah he was in the Air Force. I saw someone awhile back whining and claiming he blew up brown people during his time in the Air Force. I love how this fandom has an extremely unhealthy obsession with being concerned over the well being of fictional brown characters where they will harass real life people to defend the honor of their fictional dark skinned waifus and husbandos. The same shit happened with Niles in Fates. You’d get fans shrieking of white washing if an artist drew him even slightly lighter than whatever skin tone was considered acceptable by the fandom. Someone even went through card art and “fix” the skin tones.

So this one?

I don't see the point in doing this since Niles isn't even that dark.

And since we're on the topic of Fates, why is Agoddamn so hellbent on defending Fates? It's quite honestly the most degenerate game in the franchise. I don't really blame the localizers' for changing some things, such as Soleil's support with M!Corrin.

Funny thing is is that getting uppity over a darker-skinned character, let alone any character a part of a marginalized group, isn't any different than creepily idolizing their culture like a weeb.

AGoddamn is another one of those translation fans alongside Molebeef. She gets very anal about how characters are portrayed in the localizations vs. the original Japanese.

Speaking of Molebeef she is extremely hell bent on claiming that Dorothea is a lesbian in the Japanese version and that her bisexuality is just “comphet.” Also she really hates Manuela for some reason.

I think it's because she has legit mommy issues and that Manuela reminds her of her mom.

I've actually seen someone use the Japanese text to argue someone who's only familiar with the English localization. They even went as far as to call them disrespectful for not adhering to whatever translation they were using. It kinda makes fan-translation in this fandom kind of an absolute joke. It's even worse for 3H since a lot of discussions for that game are just toxic.

They turned against Joe Zieja? What happened lmao do you have a link

Lol I can't believe I'm fucking defending a tumblr post but what they said kinda makes sense? Also the whole Omar thing is....a bad look.

Which VA shall shoot themselves in the foot next? My votes are for Chris Hackney and Allegra Clark

The blog post, while it has that condescending attitude that a lot of tumblrettes have, definitely put things in perspective. Coming from experience it's pretty annoying to hear a bunch of white people fetishizing your entire race.

I'm curious how could Chris Hackney and Allegra Clark shoot themselves in the foot hypothetically. As far as I know, Joe Zieja is the most prolific VA in 3H.

The post has a lot of good points (especially all the fanart) but I can’t take it seriously when they refer to people as CEOs of racism and the general nasty Tumblr attitude. Joe’s tweets come more out of ignorance than anything, Maybe if people calmly told him why it is wrong to say those things instead of flipping out and crucifying him over one or two ignorant posts he would most likely listen. He apologized when called out for calling Edelgard fans psychopaths, I am sure he will listen to people saying “hey some of your tweets can come off as racist please be careful.” Though yet again this is Twitter and Tumblr, whose reaction to such things is to scream and howl at anyone who made a mistake,

Though to their credit, it is refreshing to hear an actual person from that culture talking about their issues with race in fandom and not a bratty white girl like Molebeef.

Aaaaaaaaand dropped. I should have expected it. Funnily enough, Three Houses takes the "both sides are at fault" approach to the writing, as Claude laments several times that Almyrans are just as likely to be the instigators as people from Fodlan. It's not a modern day allegory where the westerners hold all the power, it is very much a medieval look at two sides who continue to be ignorant of each other.

Also, god, cancel culture really is pathetic if that's all it takes for Joe to be racist.

The problem with Joe is that he is interacting with the fandom way too much. That is one of the worst things to do when you are a part of the entertainment indistry. I know he loves all the Claude memes and interacting with those who enjoy the character but after awhile you have to draw the line, especially in this age of cancel culture. I also think he is letting the popularity get to his head.

Do the other VAs get involved in the fandom as much as he does? I don’t see a lot from Tara Platt for example but I could be wrong.

Really just him as far as I'm aware. Some of the others have done a quick meme or two like Seteth's reading the McDonald's request or Dorothea's singing Hoes Mad when Byleth was put into Smash. Tara Platt hasn't done much but she did say Trans Rights in her Edelgard voice. Nothing to be feared from cancel culture but I imagine Nintendo was less happy about that than the other voice actors' goofs.

Is anyone annoyed that most of the characters in the church of Serios have no time-skip designs? I get Seteth and Flayn wouldn't change all that much, but it would be nice if they changed into something more discreet since they no longer have the protection of the monastery or Rhea. It just feels off-putting that all of the students are changed but not the church members.

I'm severely upset that we didn't see any aging on the human faculty of the monastery. I understand maybe not touching Manuela, as she's the type of woman who would disguise her age as much as she could, but the other characters? Are you telling me we're not allowed to see them mature as much as the students? Fuck, Mercedes is an actual adult among the students and she gets to age properly alongside the rest of the cast, yet the others don't?

Or, let me guess, no one wanted to see Shamir with a couple bags under her eyes and paler hair color?

Give me a break, that's weak.

I'm a bit lost, did Shamir become a massive workaholic in part 2 or something? Because I'm pretty sure she's in her early 30s by then. Or are we using animu logic where being 28 means you're middle-aged? Considering the game's demographic, I wouldn't be surprised if this is how these people function.

And speaking of weak, I find it amusing that people get upset over Mercedes and Ingrid's short-hair. As if it completely ruins their design or something lol

See, there's my rub. The art team actually did a great job making the characters that age actually look like they aged aside of hair-changes and larger bodies. You can see the physical transformation that took place with the passing of time as what happens to every person. I just don't understand why they didn't do that for every character that could age.

Obviously I have to point out that they put more effort into making the girls older than the boys, but there's still an attempt and at least they went there when it would have been so much easier to just give the girls the special treatment as they're so prone to do.
