Yeah, I'm having fun with it too so far, but I'm not digging the Persona-esque academy sections either. But I also don't like Persona games, so, blah.

I like the way Byleth looks and acts a lot more than Corrin. Corrin really put me off, all not wearing shoes like a gross-ass hippy. Also I'm surprised Claude isn't super gay

Everywhere around me is sold out. Amazon is sold out. I think this might be the first game in the franchise I have to buy digitally. What the hell is Nintendo doing?
I picked it up at midnight at a Walmart and they only got three copies in, total. That same Walmart had a big box full of Mario Maker 2s the month before.

Well, that isn't surprising, considering how that store is supposed to be family-friendly.

When I bought it, the sales rep said Nintendo was being extremely stringent and only distributing copies roughly equivalent to the number of pre-orders. Apparently they are actually trying to force you to buy it digitally. I was told to expect this for more major Nintendo titles going forward.

Well, shit. I'm gonna give it like a week or so but if that's truly the case, looks like I'm gonna have to go digital.

Should've preordered :/

It's probably Nintendo messing up, though it might just be the game's doing ok.

Does everyone have a favourite/least favourite out of the Femblems you've played?

I'm not a massive fan of the remake of 1, but that's mostly because it's pretty basic on account of having less to work with than later games.

Nintendo has a history of doing low print runs just to build hype from time to time. They almost always end up printing more. The Amiibo market was insane like that. One day, an Amiibo would be overflowing on store shelves, the next, it's going for $80 on eBay, and then it's crashed back down because a reprint happened.

There haven't been any Switch cartridges that have become rare yet, have there? Aside from all the Limited Run nonsense, of course.

Also I figure it's worth mentioning how Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are really expensive for used copies.

That's actually my favorite one because it's so basic. No dating shenanigans, just pure strategy and a shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitload of trial and error.

I don't go back to work until two weeks from now...I hope the game will be available when I get the money. :(

How is that new Dynasty Warriors type feature with the camera angle?

How is FINALLY getting to walk around freely in the game?

The new camera angles for the battlefield are kind of useful, and zooming in to actually run towards the enemy is nice. But this stuff is mostly there for showing off the game's graphics, since most of the enemies shouldn't be easily overlooked.

As for actually walking around, there's the dungeons in Shadows of Valentia; which isn't the same as wandering around a castle to find shit, obviously.

It gets kind of tedious, to be honest. Really the only main criticisms I have is that the game is a bit too easy and the pacing can get kind of fucked sometimes because of the walking around segments.

Picked it up on digital. Which house is the most interesting to start with?
Probably Blue Lions. I'd save Edelgard's route for new game +, I won't spoil why though. Golden Deer is a good option too.

How do paired endings outside of Byleth work? They only go up to A rank.

I haven't beaten the game, but from what I have heard, some characters get together at the end.

Is this worth buying as a classic Emblem fan or is this still strictly NuEmblem? For the record I loved the Gaiden remake.

It's not like either, really, it's hard to describe. If you hate animeshit, though, this game pretty much entirely does away with that. Supports are well written, the political intrigue is actually really interesting, and meme characters are non-existent.

Gameplay wise, it's pretty easy, but it has a lot of neat features and I imagine when they come out with lunatic it'll be extremely difficult.

The NuEmblem elements have been watered down a lot, you can only marry at the very end and only the avatar really has a marrige, no children exist period, and pair up basically doesn't exist anymore, it is kind of anime but not as super anime as the last few entries and the meme characters are kept to a tolerable limit and I picked Golden Deer the "meme" house as most people called it. The Avatar is also very very silent for what seems to be plot reasons, so they're not as annoying as say Corrin for example. They also don't feel as broken so far they feel like a solid infantry unit basically but nothing super broken outside of their 1-2 range sword.

The Persona-ish elements can take up A LOT of time though but if you don't care about side stuff, don't care about cross house recruitment, and know how to use fast travel you can fairly easily work around most the academy tedium I think without screwing yourself very much. The teaching stuff is pretty short and snappy if you know what you want to do, you just will get sick of hearing repetitive voice lines at times. The dating sim stuff is pretty short and ignorable. Also most the supports don't feel like they're trying to force a marriage so far which is a nice plus and they're fairly good in their own right, the voice acting helps out a lot. I haven't gotten to the time skip so I don't know how much changes.

The game I will say is fairly easy even on hard if you're experienced in Fire Emblem, the paralogues can be somewhat hard sometimes, but the chapters themselves have been pretty easy. Fog of war is also back and the game uses it a few times so far, so keep that in mind. Lunatic mode will be a free update, sometime this year, so hopefully that gives this game some more teeth as I think the mechanics themselves are fairly good so far and I find battalions fun. I liked the Gaiden remake a good amount and my favorite fire emblems are the Ike games, but I like 3H more than Gaiden's remake so far, mostly because the maps aren't as annoying as Gaiden's got at times.

We must be playing Golden Deer house very differently. Byleth is destroying people as a thief with no offensive abilities other then +2 speed and sword/bow affinity in my game and outleveling the fuck out of everyone, I had to cut back on using them to let anyone else have a chance. I have the snowflake sword but I've only used it once on the first raid boss.

My tier list would be Byleth >= Claude > Rapheal >= Lysithea > Everyone Else > Ignatz

I'm actually impressed though that the spread between good units and goobers you bench on the first opportunity isn't as severe as in Awakening/Fates. Aside from Ignatz who suffers from being like the 4th or 5th best archer I have atm they are all pretty effective units.
