Bro it’s not that deep, our shitty niche JRPG isn’t a threat to the west. They live in a desert, and the setting was created for them instead of shoving them into a place where they weren’t before. They are perfectly reasonably in line with everything else in the game, which is all awful and over designed. There is nothing special or out of place about them in this bad game.

Nobody is changing their immigration opinions over Fire Emblem Engage holy shit

I just think that Lucina being Robin's daughter feels infinitely less weird than if Robin is a dude and marries his best friends time-traveling child. That being said, Lucina's mom (except for the generic villager option) just deciding, "Fuck it, back off to war" when they have a two year old daughter is insane.
See even this makes more sense with FRobin as Chrom's wife since she's Chrom's tactician so she kind of has to go to one of the biggest conflicts the continent has seen in centuries. And although Awakening's plot kind of shits itself around this part, they would not have won in Valla or overcome Validar without Robin's brains.

It's a shame their C-S Support Chain is so bad because the pairing really does make the story better and I like everything else about their relationship (auto-marriage convo in Chapter 11(?), DLC convos).

So the new game features:

A member of an ancient tribe rules over his darker skinned, desert dwelling subjects using bread and circuses.

His tribe's primary enemies live in tunnels, use rockets, and are highly xenophobic.

His creator is worshiped as the sole god by people unrelated to him.

UH OH NINTENDO.

I enjoyed their supports because it forced Chrom to man up and finally see Robin as a woman in the most blunt way possible.

Robin was lucky to be the tactician unit because (due to popularity polls) it afforded her more supports with her family. The beach DLC with Chrom winning meant Robin got a convo with her husband, and the hotspring DLC with Lucina winning meant Robin got a convo with her daughter. Combine that with the missions and convos from Future Past and Robin's line is one of the most fleshed out. If Robin married say Henry, you don't get any of that. I don't know how anyone could pass up the drama of having Lucina's mom be Grima.

I think I'm on chapter 12 of Fates now. I'm in the map where there's a theater and a bunch of boats for seemingly no reason and daddy is there waiting to spank you (to death, with a sword).

The story is just not good. However, I like a lot of the characters. In Awakening, most of the characters were completely one dimensional. That seems slightly better here. There are still plenty of characters who feel like they exist just to fill out the roster, but I dunno.

I decided to pair Corrin up with Hana because she's one of few female characters who doesn't look 12 or like a prostitute. I like Setsuna because of how brain damaged she acts but her lips weird me out. I also don't really care for metagaming or minmaxing so I just picked the hottest eligible woman. The game very obviously wants me to go after Azura but no thanks.

I find it very strange that you can romance Sakura and Hinoka. The fact that you're given the option makes the future spoiler pretty obvious, but that still means Corrin is trying to, as far as he knows, fuck his sister. Maybe that's normal in Azeroth or whatever the hell the Fire Emblem planet is called.

Lastly, I was extremely disappointed when Zulo or Zolu or whatever turned out to be evil, because it was so predictable. For a moment I was like "huh, they're actually not going the 'evil looking guy is evil because of course he is' route" and was kind of proud of anime writers for showing some restraint for once. Also he was funny. Oh well.

It doesn't matter how they act, they are there because of wokeness, they are esthetically unpleasing.
I specifically mentioned Engage for the garish character design, an while back, you retard. I was talking about their personality, this week. Since we need an different subject to bitch about, each week

So I've been playing on Normal Classic, reloading whenever a unit dies. Seems like a good balance of challenge and not requiring low functioning autism to get through a battle. Traditionally I play FE games on hard (never lunatic or equivalent though), but I'm enjoying it a lot more this way. Not having to restart every battle 20 times because of a single unlucky miss or one unlucky crit is just nice.

It did make me wonder, though. What's better: the way I'm doing it, or playing on Lunatic on Casual mode? I've always seen casual as Very Easy since you can just throw your army at everything without caring what happens, but I do wonder if the added difficulty might make that a more enjoyable experience.

The obvious middle ground would be Hard Classic and simply accepting my losses - there are more than enough units to go around, and I'd argue this is the trve way to play FE - but this is my first playthrough and I don't know who or what is actually good, plus I want to see all the dialog.

This stuff is in the game so you get more accepting of them, so they can import more of these creatures into our countries. And the real ones don't act nice at all, Iryna Zarutska!!!

Disgusting!

At the very least they don't look black in terms of actual facial features and hair and stuff, but yeah...fuck.

Female characters dressed like this fighting monsters, total immersion destroyer. At this point just play a porn game.

It's a fantasy game, I'd prefer them dressed a bit more modestly too, but she looks cool.

Yeah, BlackRock is just paying them to do it for no particular reason.

I'm honestly surprised Nintendo hasn't flipped this into a fighting game or an open-world action RPG by now, considering how they like milking franchises. It would probably be too "risky," I guess.
Well, we had Warriors and Smash, both of which turned out to be more fuel for the content farm. But I genuinely don't trust Nintendo with making an ubislop clone. Most of their previous attempts turned out to be kind of boring

Nintendo has never been particularly strong on fighting games outside of smash (ARMS looks incredibly boring and Pokken is dead). also an FE fighting game wouldn't be interesting or profitable enough for them, at least compared to something like FEH. Open-world action RPG also doesn't work, because the settings and events are always designed with the SRPG "large cast of characters and kingdoms" in mind, would be a totally different game and setting (maybe from the perspective of an ogma or navarre archetype or something) and idk who would even develop it, might as well just make a completely new IP at that point.

Granblue Fantasy says hi. Nintendo could easily just outsource the games and let them figure it out while they help in development. You could get companies like Platinum Games or Team Ninja for the RPG and Capcom or Arc System Works for the fighting game.

Between the options, I think you’re doing it right. I don’t enjoy Lunatic mode very much personally, even as a very seasoned players. Its definition of difficulty is to simply shove more enemies onto the map, not in any strategic way but just to pump numbers up and shove more of them. I find it incentivizes play styles that I don’t enjoy like turtling or a small number of very powerful units soloing. Lunatic casual in particular becomes a major “fuck it we ball” fest, because the way it’s designed is that most situations can be solved with exactly one unit sacrifice, and then you end up with a suicide squad. I didn’t find it fun personally.

My favorite way to play the game even after decades is hard mode no resetting, because I feel that play style does the most to bring out what I enjoy about the series. Once you have the confidence as a player to accept casualties and understand that your army will be just fine, I encourage normal classic with minimal to no resetting. Accepting casualties brings out the resource management, emotional connections with the army, the idea of crafting your own unique story that different from anyone else’s, and even just seeing more units and supports you don’t get to see. That’s just my opinion, and definitely not for a first few playthroughs

As someone who sacrificed Orochi's worthless ass to gain a slight advantage in Revelation Chapter 11, I feel that.

Regardless of the stretches made for good memery,

this one comment has stuck in my mind as an absolute killshot to what 3HousesII is. Until it is remedied, I have no desire to play it.

Now fantasy HRE vs fantasy Roman Empire vs fantasy arab warhosts would tickle my fancy, but I doubt that this is the intent.

Does this little community of ours have any romhacks for the GBA games to recommend?
