Goytendo sure is trying to court that mutt'd western market. Why not show them as they really are nips? Why give proud brown characters Caucazoid-features? Why not give them their trademark abyssal black eyes, ape bone structures, and curly black pube hair? Oh right, cause then China (and I) would tell you to fuck off even harder than we do now. I'm so glad I stopped waiting and played through FE4 earlier this year. It's obvious Nintendo is too scared to tackle it, and even if they did, the game would be so neutered (and nigger'd) it wouldn't be worth playing. PoR started it cringely, Awakening made it a trend, and by Valentia they were literally blackening White characters for Fink brownie points. Boil that frog Goytendo, boil it. You're not getting my shekels.
I'm glad they seem to be course-correcting from Engage.
Those "character designs" alone say otherwise.
We wuz Romans and shiet!
Nips still salty their Empire couldn't even last half a Century let alone a Millennia... that or they're doing a solid for their bankrolling koshers who remain salty about Hadrian to this day. I'm guessing the desert-looking shebitch is the "Zenobia" of the game (though they named her after a superior Byzantine Queen, shameless). Will Goytendo at least have the decency to Aurelian that shebitch like Type-Moon did?
Aurelian's Chariot Decoration.webp

Probably not.

Everyone looks brown.
Well, the Roman Empire did claim the coastlines of most of the Mediterranean. But that doesn't necessarily translate to "30% of Rome is now brown-skinned." But even if we're pretending that this is the distant future of Adrestria, it would mean that either Brigid (the place where Petra is from) or Claude's homeland had more or less gained an larger foothold in Rodman under more peaceful terms.
wasn’t the 2nd game all high school uniforms shit on one of the covers????
Yeah, but that was technically taking place at an military academy. But it turned out to be an cash grab.

The trailer makes the game look and sound mediocre. Mediocre designs, boring cities, boring music, generic voice acting, painfully stock dialogue and story setup... where is the passion and energy that was behind Fates?

I braced myself for IS hitting the 3H followup panic button and I'm still feeling the 3H fatigue badly.
I will say though, its interesting to watch people point out how ugly the game looks or how unappealing the designs are, when that were very common impressions during 3H's reveal too only for it to become the breakout star of the series.
Let's see if actual ressources and effort are going into the maps this time.

Reddit and Youtube comments seem excited (the temptation is to say of course they eat up any slop but I remember people were more ambivalent towards Engage when the trailer premiered etc). It's more just here and apparently 4chan people are having a tepid reaction.

I dunno. I’m actually pretty exited for it. The designs are alright, better than Engage but not great. But I like the grekkoroman aesthetic, the game looks pretty good in general, and I don’t see any causes to be alarmed. And no I don’t count seeing Mediterranean brown people as cause for alarm.

Now at the risk of giving into speculation, it does seem like this game is set on another continent besides Fodlan. Maybe it's set in Dagda?
If making you play as an underprivileged urban youth isn't bad enough, they have literally blacked the generic enemies.

If Shadowpeople only make up 13% of Fodlan's population, why do they commit 50% of crimes?

-Edelgard Hresvelg, Turning Point Adrestria

I’m of mixed opinions on this one - yeah, them going back to something related to 3H seems like a desperate way to get people who liked that game to come back, but it also comes off as an admission that Engage, did in fact, bomb harder than Hiroshima.

I’m willing to wait and see on this one - at the very least the character designs won’t be completely retarded like Engage’s quirky cast of rejected Vtubers - but expectations are as low as I can reasonably put them.

only for it to become the breakout star of the series.
Honestly, I think it will heavily depend on how well the Switch 2 does.

Awakening sold nearly 2.4 million units despite the 3DS selling only half of what the DS did. 3H sold nearly 4.1 million sales off of the Switch, which has sold about as much as the DS, which is not quite a 1:1 proportional increase but pretty close. Switch 2 is already being bandied about as Nintendo's fastest selling game console and Weaves has the advantage of coming pretty soon after launch like Awakening, so if it keeps up I expect it to do well just by virtue of that alone.

I swear, people see any character with a slight tan in any setting and promptly lose their shit like they just shoved the darkest tribal nigger alive straight into a grounded, medieval, roughly European setting. I remember the same happened with the new Pokemon Legends game because they saw a brown person in a setting based on modern Paris.

Sorry, missed the game news. Been busy justifying reprisals over recent events.

But honestly if you’re gonna Disagree with me that Sylvain didn’t end Crest Culture everywhere, present an actual case. Don’t be a sore loser.

Oh God, they made the bad ending canon then.

They went with some nerdy girl whose design doesn't even fit with the time period, and the dude, well, i could accept the tan, but the tarantula hair makes me think that he's supposed to appeal to certain demographics, which is not me.
God, that hairstyle is awful, who in their right mind would choose that of all things?

Also, Rhea did nothing wrong and Silver Snow route is objectively the best one.

Here is my analysis of the trailer:

Overall, this new game appears to playing it safe by making a follow-up to the world of Three Houses. I believe the game will take place outside Fodlan. Since geographically it looks very different, given all the visuals of the deserts and such. The amount of characters with a darker tone of skin also validates this.

Must like in Three House's footsteps, they are doing the three important lords thing once again, those characters being Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda. I wonder if this also implies that the game will multiple routes, much like in Three Houses.

A big change is the omission of an avatar character, keep in mind the last game without an avatar character was Echoes, which was a remake. Excluding remakes, the last game without an avatar was Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, which came out in 2007. In the trailer the main character, Cai speaks, I hope this implies that he is actually a character that you want to root for, instead of a blank slate that for some reason everyone loves and worships.

There is a theory that Cai, alongside his glasses wearing friend, are time travellers or that they came from a different world. I can see why the writers may have done this narrative decision. If this is true, they may want to introduce you to the world while playing as someone who is unfamiliar and is a stranger to the current state of it.
Cai and his female friend's outfits look out of place. As I said before, this could be because they're from a different world or are time travellers, this could explain their unique attire. Especially Cai's friend, as her glasses look fairly modern. Since this takes place in the same world as Three Houses, time travel will most likely be a story point of this new game.
Cai2.webp
I'm guessing these two cutscenes begin at the start of the game. It would appear that Cai got apprehended by guards. This may be where the story starts to begin to take hold, as the Kai might meet one of the important characters.
Cai1.webpcai7.webp
Cai is walking around the hub area of the game. I wonder if this will be like the monastery in Three Houses. How will this location be used in a story sense, will the army return back to there after each chapter or series of chapters?

In the audio, Cai mentions he needs to save his father. Given Fire Emblem's tract record, the father will probably die. Also, in the second screenshot, the statue has a clear resemblance to the green-haired man that we first see in the trailer. Perhaps this is a different "The Divine Sovereign," either way, they will most likely be an important character like Rhea from Three Houses.
Cai3.webpCai4.webp
In this screenshot, we see Cai using the power of his crest to protect his friend. This crest being the Crest of Aubin, this was confirmed in a gameplay screenshot which shows the icon of the crest in Cai's stats. In Three Houses, the character Yuri has this crest.
Cai5.webpCai6.webp
Now for Theodora, the first of our three important characters. She is a noble and probably a leader or heir to one of the nations.
In these screenshots, I believe this could be our first introduction to her.
Theodora1.webpTheodora7.webp
The other cutscenes are her fighting and leading an army. This further showcases that she is a part of the nobility.
Theodora3.webpTheodora4.webpTheodora5.webpTheodora6.webp
Now for Dietrich, the Alucard clone of the game. His class is a Myrmidon. He has quite the resemblance to Jeritza or Three Houses. This could imply Dietrich that is from the same bloodline as him.
There are these three images of him in the rain, probably on a ship. We can notice that the sword is a Hero Relic, it reminds me a lot of the Sword of The Creator.
Dietrich1.webpDietrich2.webpDietrich7.webp
And in this scene we see Dietrich holding up his blade against a yielding green-haired man. Could this man be a low ranking antagonist? Or perhaps a playable character? We don't see him in the gameplay clips, so it's very much uncertain as of now.
Dietrich4.webpDietrich5.webp
And now for a strange shot. We see Dietrich fighting a female priestess with a handgun that shoot lighting. Given the background, I believe this is the underground city of Shamballa from Three Houses. Either that, or a location built by the same people. Given this, I believe this game will further explore this strange side of the lore.
Dietrich6.webp111.webp
Finally, here is Leda; the dancer hunter of the game. In the audio, she mentions that she hates a man so much that killing him won't do enough. Leda's motive in the story will probably be about getting revenge against this man, who is most likely an antagonist in the story.
Leda1.webpLeda3.webpLeda8.webp
In this cutscene, I believe this could be Leda, but could also be someone closely related to her. As her earrings, hairstyle, and attire look different from the other scenes of Leda. But this could perhaps be a cutscene of the past, where Leda looks different. But I guess we will see. Maybe this scene will show us why she hates the man she mentioned before.
Leda2.webp
Leda must have some special connection with the crests. Since she can summon friendly demonic beasts, which implies that she must be gifted with a powerful crest. This could be the reason why she will be an important character.
Leda4.webpLeda5.webpLeda5.1.webp
We see Leda fighting a white-haired warrior in an arena. I think it's safe to assume this man will be the antagonist of the story. Perhaps he was the person that she mentioned that she wants to take revenge on.
Leda6.webpLeda7.webp
Now for some other characters who don't have names but they appeared in cutscenes.
We see a man and woman, who are presumably married or related. They must be important nobility, perhaps royalty, given how they have their own special spot for viewing the arena. These two don't appear in the gameplay section, so it's unknown for now if these two are allies or antagonists.
1.webp
Then we see "The Divine Sovereign" an important character in the story most likely. Given his appearance of his elvish ears and light green hair, he is most likely a Nabataean. I believe his role in the story will be much like Rhea's role from Three Houses.
2.webp
The white-haired warrior that Leda was fighting makes an appearance again. He is fighting a masked person, perhaps a generic person or a character using the mask as a cover.
3.webp4.webp
Another masked person, this time a woman. Notably, she has the Crest of Noah on her necklace. This crest was the same one that Constance from Three Houses has.
5.webp
An ominous and mysterious scene which shows two characters with faces we can't see. Could the person on the throne be an antagonist?
6.webp
Now we have the scene of Sothis that confirms that this game does take place in the same world as Three Houses. This game follows in Awakening footsteps of making the child dragon into an adult version of the character. A far better and more acceptable change that I support.
7.webp
Now the gameplay section. These first few screenshots tell us a lot. We can see Cai's class "Flying-Ornius Rider" only having 6 movement. It would appear that this game will follow suit with Engage's design decision of having less overall movement for classes.

We see numerous amount of unnamed characters alongside Dietrich and Cai's female friend.
From left to right, starting at the top, we could see: Dietrich, young looking red-haired male archer, old or middle age priest/healer? Cai's friend, who appears to be a mage, dark skinned, mercenary with a red bit of hair, female mage with light-brown(?) hair, blonde-haired woman and a green-haired woman with closed eyes both in a brawling class
game1.webpgame2.webp
Dismounting and Combat Arts make a return to the series. Alongside this we see the new "Blaze Arts" In the top left of the screen, you can see a meter gauge. Perhaps Blaze Arts will be like the Emblem effects from Engage. In the mini-map of the previous screenshots, we can see this yellow star. Could these provide the effect of maxing out your meter, much like how you could in Engage with those blue tiles of the map?

Durability makes a return, which makes sense as this game is related to Three Houses. Notice how the bronze spear has an icon with a plus sign of Cai's class type. Could this imply that certain classes or class types may have bonus effects for weapons types? Also, below in the stat screen, we see a Curse stat. Will certain weapons have different type of curse effect, like the devil weapons of previous games?
game3.webpgame4.webp
Here is the battle screen where can we learn the name of one of the factions of this game, that being "Thundercloud." Additionally, this is a never seen before class, the Charioteer. In the bottom left, we can see two skills of Cai in effect. One of them appears to be lance proficiency, with the other being the Crest of Aubin. The portrait of the enemies are all blacked out, perhaps it's placeholder?
game5.webp
"Knightly Senses" could this be Cai's personal skill? Or perhaps it's a skill of his class, given how the icon is the same. We can confirm that critical hits will remain as x3 damage.
game6.1.webpgame6.webp
Theodora gameplay section, there was something that I noticed. In the top left, Theodora's class has a star. I wonder what this could mean, as Cai and Dietrich don't have one, but Theodora and Leda have. Gambits make a return, which is to be expected since Three Houses was the game that first had them. We can see Theodora's special weapon, "Mahadu's Spear"

4 other playable units are seen. With the dark skinned mercenary from the previous gameplay section making an appearance. A sword wielding pirate looking guy, perhaps another mercenary. A man with pinkish hair as a flying unit class. And below we can see a black man with an unclear class, but probably a physical attacker.
We can see a Rouge with an icon beside him, this icon most likely notes that the unit is a promoted class.
game7.webpgame8.1.webpgame8.webp
We can see the Gambit animation in action. Funnily enough, in the video, you can see one of them clip through Theodora.
game9.webpgame10.webp
Dietrich's gameplay section, we can spot in the bottom left a rain icon. Weather effects will be a thing in this game. One of the effects of the rain is minus one movement. As we can see that Dietrich can only move 3 tiles, we can safely assume his default movement is four tiles, since that was how unpromoted classes were like in Engage. We can see the name of his sword, "Answerer." Dietrich is level 37, which could imply that the level system and caps of Three Houses will make a return.

We can finally see what Blaze Arts are. Interestingly, these arts will consume HP, like how spells did in Echoes/Fe2. And in the stats, it says that will increase Blaze by one, perhaps this is the way how we can fill up the meter. One of them is greyed out, perhaps you have to fill out your Blaze meter in order to use it. Given how Blaze Arts consume HP, I'm guessing this will mean that HP growths will be like Fates, that being overall lower than the FE's average.
game11.webpgame12.webp
We can see Dietrich having a "Flyssa" in his inventory that does bonus damage to armoured units. The Flyssa is an Algerian sword, for those unaware of the name. We can see the weapon description of the Answerer, which confirms that it's a Hero Relic that grants a unit combat art name "Bloodletting." It also has durability of 40.

Two previously seen appear again, that being the dark-skinned mercenary once again, alongside the old or middle age priest/healer. We see two new faces, that being a girl with cyan hair and is a spear-wielding class. Alongside an axe-wielding bearded man who is a warrior, perhaps war monk.
game13.webpgame14.webp
"Murderous Intent" Dietrich's personal is shown, this confirms that personal skills are in the game.
game15.1.webp
Leda's gameplay section starts with a bunch of red units with a weird purplish aura. We see a greyed out option "Manage Gauge" which probably relates to the Blaze Arts as we can see in the top left that Leda's meter is fully filled. We see two new playable characters, a black skinned warrior and a magic using blonde woman whose face is blocked by the HUD. Alongside the blonde woman, we can see Cai and his friend once again.

We can see Leda in a forest tile which provides 20 avoid. Something of note is the tiles with that blue watery aura. Most likely, these were caused by an antagonist that uses magic. Perhaps this could imply such tile changes will be frequent in the game?
game15.webp
We can see that Leda has many Blaze Arts, specifically about singing, which seems to fit her character as a dancer and bard. We can see that the selected Blaze Art requires a specific amount of the Blaze meter filled in order for it to be used. From what I can gather, the way to fill the Blaze meter is to continually to use Blaze Arts to enable you to use more powerful ones. Perhaps once you have a fully filled meter you can do a special attack, much like how you could in Engage.
game16.webp
Now that is all, there are probably stuff I missed. So feel free point out anything else that is interesting.

Now I may be completely insane, but I swear Theodora sounds like Cherami Leigh. She even looks a bit like a tanned Rhea in her Seiros persona, green eyes included, but the ears are obviously human. Wonder if there's a connection.

Especially Cai's friend, as her glasses look fairly modern
Hannenman wears an monocle, your argument is invalid
This game follows in Awakening footsteps of making the child dragon into an adult version of the character. A far better and more acceptable change that I support.
So, I take it that you have an foot fetish? Because that trailer is trying to go down that route
In the top left, Theodora's class has a star. I wonder what this could mean, as Cai and Dietrich don't have one, but Theodora and Leda have.
I think that it's an indicator that you've unlocked an skill from playing with a certain class long enough.

Despite everything, modern IS has not fumbled this bag yet. The rest is in determination though.

Also love this trend of being hyped when a new Fire Emblem game drops, and the pants-shitting that ensues when the "Dear Lord, a new Fire Emblem game" realization hits. At least IS isn't back in that "looking down at the edge of a cliff" state they were in after New Mystery lmao.
