Rosado being a trans woman or getting 100% gender flipped completely misses the point of his character and that of the typical "kind but outspoken and super beautiful crossdressers " dudes found in so many FE games, damn it. Said point being that these charas are cis guys who look super girly, but that doesn't automatically make them women: that would make their existence moot and, IMO, conform to these gender stereotypes that SJW's supposedly want to smash and destroy. "Oh, but that guy's not perfectly manly? HE'S A WOMAN! WAHAHAHAHAHA!"
That’s the case for that persona 4 guy but in FE these characters are pretty shallow and mostly just there as fujobait. And westoidic fujos evolved to see everything as trans instead of gay.

Maybe Rosado is different but I didn’t play Engage. And I sort of doubt it.

What's everyone's opinions here on Tearring Saga?
The first game is a shameless FE ripoff but is good, much better than whatever the fuck Nintendo was doing on the GBA. The GBA games are, in my opinion, the lowest point for the series. The second game was a lot different. Never tried it.

There’s also Vestaria Saga which I haven’t had a chance to play either but I’ve heard really good things. It’s a budget title. Don’t expect the production values of an FE game or the Tear Ring games.

Wasn't there cuck and incest shit in the GBA games?

Only cuck thing I can think of, in any Fire Emblem, is Arvis marrying Deidre. Who are also half-siblings. While she was Sigurd’s wife.

Not to my recollection, no.
You have mostly pretty normal couples like Pent and Louise and Eliwood's parents.
You could argue that Clarine and Priscilla admire their big bros a little too much, but that's just Tuesday in the FE universe.

Okay niggers please explain how the GBA were anything special beyond the other series. All the GBA games had going for them were portability and some QOL features. Most people only hold the GBA games so highly because they were their first games. The games were overly long slogs that did little to innovate and are mainly rehashes of mechanics in previous games. Compare Thracia 776 with Binding Blade and you immediately see what I’m talking about.

They are the simplest and most accesible titles in the series that condense the main formula of the franchise into its most enjoyable elements, and they pretty much cover the main target groups of people interested in these games (FE6 is for LTCers and other kinds of subhuman tryhards, FE8 is for casual players who like to train shitters into one man armies, and FE7 offers a balance of both)

Honestly probably the best take anyone has ever given me. They are too simple for me which is the main reason I don't like them as much. Also I don't really like the color palettes. Yes, I know the GBA can't do colors as dark as a TV but they are still too bright and cheery for FE. I like my FE to be dark and gritty. That's why I send all the loli and shota characters to the front lines as bait. War is hell.

If I compare 776 with FE6 I see one game with a lot of forced shitty gimmicks and obtuse mechanics and one game that goes back to basics and is more like FE1.

I don't know what this obsession with chasing innovation at all costs is with Japanese developers, FE2 was half-baked and FE4 has basically the worst gameplay in the entire series as far as I am concerned.
This chase of innovation is what got us the monastery in 3H and the stupidass routes in Fates, so yeah I do prefer games that focus on what works instead of adding some half-baked bullshit mechanics.

The GBA games are basically the "basic" FE experience without anything major added to it that distracts from the gameplay of going from chapter to chapter.
Besides some people seem to forget that they really are GBA games and are meant to be played like one chapter at a time on an handheld, not an emulator. This is why the stories are easier to follow with all the recaps and characters explaining things a few times too often.

And because the sprites are charming as hell to look at.

Well the base preps only take about 4 minutes for one thing.

Here’s another one for you all to mald over: I don’t care for the weapon triangle and feel that the games without it are overall more fun to play because it gives you more freedom in unit deployment. Adding the weapon triangles to Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem (especially the former) nearly ruined those games.

My gut tells me the Weapon Triangle is like the Hybrid Tax in MMOs: a better system exists but this one is practical, and is the lesser evil or best of the bad ideas

Step 1: turn off FE6
Step 2: play a better FE game
Step 3: enjoy

To add what other people said, FE6-FE8 were probably the opposite of a slog (besides some questionable FE6 maps), you didn't have to worry about 27 different ability procs or random mechanics pulled out of Lord Kaga's butt to play the game (shotouts to Asbel killing a dark mage at low hp, gaining +1 con on level up and making me unable to rescue him with Leif, proceeding to die with a Jormugand to the face). It's also pretty fun to minmax stuff with Rescue chains that don't hinder your unit's movement and watch absolute kino combat animations that I still believe are the best in the series to this day.

Sometimes, being less is also being more.

(Although I won't lie that I do miss FE5's "Capture" and even "Fatigue" mechanics.)
