I will also disagree with the idea that there wasn't 'waifu shit' in GBA emblem. Even setting aside Mrs. Thickness' Gamefaqs retrospective some forty pages ago, I'm convinced a big reason why FE7 has the amount of nostalgia that it has is because Lyn was a crush of a lot of oldheads (I'll be cynical and say that Mark's only purpose is to facilitate that).
Find me one anime game that doesn't have waifus, all the female characters are always supermodels and "attractive".
What I refer to as waifu shit is the waifus pretty aggressively being pushed on you and being a large part of the appeal.

Like say, you in a POV cutscene getting a facefull of your dominatrix sister's breasts, or your cute little sister hugging you and calling you onichan (this is a fetish for some as you may be aware) etc.

With Lyn you don't really experience any of these waifu things the later games do, she is not coming on to you and you can't engage with her since you can't say anything to her or choose to have an S support with her.
Lyn's crimes as a waifu is that she is a supermodel that sometimes talks to you, the tactician, the guy that makes her frail ass not die on the battlefield.

You may call it waifu shit and it may be waifu shit, but it certainly is not on the level as the 3DS or Switch games by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't know man, some of those crit animations were kindov suspect.

getting blessed by RNGJesus on an awful unit, making a story for yourself about their performance with specific weapons/against specific bosses, or simping for Path of Radiance Mia enough that you use her aside from her intended role as Nephenee's bench warmer.
I'm nowhere near joining the "Leonardo defense force" if there ever was one. But, thinking once, off handedly, "lughnasadh does give 5 speed tho" led me to one of the... at least at the time, most psychotic endeavors I ever set out on. With the boost, he can just barely double Ashera. Legitimately good unit to have... if he actually, somehow, by an act only possible through the graces of God, makes it to that lofty benchmark.

I didn't say it was and that you immediately had to genuflect to that makes me think I struck a nerve.

Don't know what else to take from this other than you implying that Lyn is waifu shit.
But since you're trying to make it about me at this point I think the discussion is over anyway.

I'm not implying Lyn is 'waifu shit', I'm saying that Lyn is 'waifu shit' and that's fine. That's all. I wasn't comparing her to the lowest hanging fruit from Fates, I was pointing out that it didn't begin with the 3DS games.

All support conversations are just heavily lightened social sim mechanics. Awakening didn't really innovate on that. Awakening did give you an Avatar character to model yourself after, and gave him (or her I guess, but let's be real here) the ability to romance anyone. That aspect alone, I don't take issue with, but that it brought a bunch of very annoying, very shallow people into the fanbase is an undeniable reality that we now have to live with.

Well, I've only seen the first few levels of the first game, so I'm not surprised. The only SRPG that's left is Shining Force, apparently
The first game had secret bikini and night dress costumes (with the GBA remake adding a maid uniform) and the 2nd game has a scene where you watch a woman taking a bath in a waterfall

Which console/system do you think had the best games? Gamecube+Wii? GBA? 3DS?

For my money it's GBA, I love 7 and 8.
Definitely SNES with the Jugdral games. Yeah, they've aged like hot milk mechanically (looking at you fe4 pawn system), but I still think the story of the Jugdral games is unparalleled in the series. Genealogy's scale really does help to immerse you in the fact that the wars have spread across the entirety of the continent. While gen 1 of Genealogy is my favorite cast in the whole of the series, I also really like Leif's redemption arc in Thracia. An avatar character could never be this complex.

FE9 is my favorite in the series, FE 10 I like, in spite of the many problems with it. Genealogy and Thracia are also up there, although I struggle to get through FE 3. So, as far as I'm concerned SNES and [the systems that run on Power PC architecture] share first place.

FE9 is great, I finished it for the first time relatively recently. I spotted a physical copy in a game/music store and bought it on impulse (and payed way too much for it). It's my favorite non-GBA FE by a long shot.

IS knew what they were doing when they made Alois. btw it's crazy that you had this really specific screenshot on hand, got anything you'd like to confess?
it's actually just on the fandom wiki, which has an aggravating amount more in terms of information than the non-fandom one.

related: alois's japanese va is doing god's work. nigga has more pipes than an organ.
