Sonia was a fun villain. Limstella still scares the ever loving shit out of me to this day.

11 year old Scarlett was traumatized when Lelia was killed by Jafar and left as a warning, the creepy ass Zephiel image, etc.

How can I not forget the dude and his wife in Sacred Stones...its like fucking Presea and her dad in Tales of Symphonia.

I don’t know about you , but that might just be the absolute last thing I’m looking for in my game fanbase.
And yet you get it anyway, 3H is famous for it, but it’s just bad.

This is highly autistic and but I agree Claude is useless as anything other than a racial token in his own story and that, on balance, every faction in 3H could be considered progressive. The most frustrating part of Azure Moon for me was the parley between Dimitri and Edelgard where Dimitri doesn't really argue against any of her points or assumptions.
Well this is because Dimitri represent L’Ancien Regime and Edelgard is Napoleon (but German). The dispute isn’t between Trans Rights and “retarded feudal arrangements are actually good” as many want it to be.

Case in point, I’m supposed to care more about the presence of exceedingly nominal and token bisexuals in Adrestia. But also ignore how much of Faerghus is apologizing for a racial massacre. It’s the Yellowstone meme as the “conservative” Japanese Tactical RPG faction (that superficially rugged and right wing series ends with the white ranchers giving their land back to the Indians cuz at least they ain’t city folk in case you need a summary). And then of course the whole German/Napoleonic expansionism thing.

Basically the sides are drawn very arbitrarily over very flimsy characteristics. God-fearing people are often wrong and urbanites are a staple of any dynamic civilization (hence why Adrestia has the sort of high culture you’d see in any real European power). Peasant societies are bad, technology is good precisely because it means less reliance on the fragile high investment of knights and lords deigning to solve problems, etc.

The timing is auspicious since Trump is a secular phenomenon who is as divorced from what was considered Mainstream Conservatism as many Democrats. And he’s what revitalized the right wing.

Point is it would be funnier to meme Edelgard into Der Fuhrer than to wail about her for years. And Dimitri, as you say, is a weak critic of her. He sort of just exists by sufferance.

Can you two faggots fuck off to dms or something?

Let's do what FE faggots are infamous for instead, tier lists.
This list isn't necessarily about the quality of any one game but rather how much I like it and what I think makes a great Fire Emblem game.
Feel like it would be a nice exercise to write out why I like or dislike any of the games from best to worst and maybe some of you can do the same.

SoV and FE7 are kind of interchangeable for me but i'll start with SoV.

SoV has what I consider to be the best presentation of any of the FE games, it has amazing art, great animations and 90% of the cast is likable and actually written well.

Truly the few downsides the game has are some strange balancing decisions such as only Dread Fighters being able to reclass back into Villager and Alm in general being a bit too much of a beast, Hunters Volley and of course the admittedly boring map design.

But that is all gameplay related thankfully, as a story and experience I think SoV should be the gold standard for the series. Each character has just enough to them to be likable but not overbearing.

Its just a shame it lacks replay value for me, you're basically able to use every character you come across and even then they're not all that different from each other anyway.

FE7 I admit is a nostalgic pick for me, it was the first game I had and so I am able to just look past the flaws it has.

Even considering its flaws FE7 still has a very likable cast similar to SoV and in my eyes a pretty unique and personal story. In FE7 we're not going up against a big evil empire where we kill god at the end but instead its a very personal story with comparatively low stakes.

Sure it doesn't make much sense that the Black Fang -a clan of assassins- consists of many, many weak fodder enemies but I feel like this was mostly due to gameplay concessions.

Gameplay wise I think FE7 is good, it's got great defence chapters and other objectives too.

Of course at this point the GBA games are solved games and it spawned this annoying culture of movement good, 1-2 range good, archers bad, knights bad that's repeated ad nauseum to this day even though it no longer applies as severely.
[/SPOILER

Currently in the process of playing FE9 this time on maniac mode, might make more posts about my rankings.

I normally wouldn't care what the gacha slop is doing but it's doing a Genealogy-themed event, which gets my hopes up about a remake/remaster this year.

I want to believe... :lossmanjack:
Fire Emblem either leads you to an irl marriage where you still have time to actually play the game, or to selling your soul, making a faggoty videos on the game rather than playing it.
Or meth.
for me it is when the GBA mage does a little twirl and throws gang signs, or when a monk starts praying
i also pog when fates sorcerers get a crit and start flying and doing flips

A pretty underrated one is actually Chrom's death animation, where his sword flies into the air and the blade plunges into the ground next to him as he reaches out to it before collapsing. Corrin's sword does that too, but Corrin just accepts death. Alear accepts death and their blade just falls normally instead of heroically plunging into the earth because Alear is a bitch
I don't remember if it was the paladin or Duessel's class in the GBA games that went full gallop on the horse for a couple seconds before smashing the enemies shit, never failed to get me hyped up.

fe tranny jannies having a very normal one today as usual

EDIT FOR CLARITY: "fe tranny janny" is a joke, not an accusation, but retarded (-10% avoid class penalty) communist pedo that mostly follows minors on twitter (30%) tellius fan (10%) with headcanons (5%) and transgender flag (41%) gives me a hit rate of 96% before factoring in weapon triangle, skills, and support bonuses
If he's a furfag, you can set them on fire, too. (Gallians were weak to fire spells.)

Null had basically banned everyone from DMs during one of his spergouts. So everyone suffers until he gets tired of handing out pink triangles

Tier lists have been a huge staple in the community long before it became a youtube trend, almost two decades to be sure.

Its usually lists about unit viability and which are the best to beat the games easily with.

I remember a RD tier list on Serenes Forest that went on for more than 500 pages, it was quite ridiculous.

What's with people not liking people use the arena I generally never get any of these people that.
saves coming I'm like so you wanna waste five hours of your life that you're not gonna get back because you don't wanna save before you do something difficult.

I'll throw my hat into the ring, C is the only tier where the order could go in any way depending on my daily mood:
I'll forever love the scope and ambition that went into the Tellius games alongside their characters and variety in maps.
Engage ranked higher than expected. I could go on forever about what they messed up but they did actually succeed in creating a game that keeps and demands your attention.
I'm going to chicken out of properly ranking the original Archanea games. To be blunt, they'd be at the bottom but I feel like it'd be unfair to the oldest games in the series that laid out the groundwork for everything else.
I'm actually getting second thoughts on Awakening being this low but I can't be assed to download the image again, would go above SD, maaaaaybe Sacred Stones too. D is still ultimately a tolerable tier for me.

Tierlist for all interested: https://tiermaker.com/create/fire-emblem-games-15489016

Basing my tiers more on how well I think each game did what it set out to do, not necessarily how 'good' it is - e.g. Conquest is a better game than Awakening, but Fates was selling itself on having an involved, nuanced story so much that the reality of its writing drags the overall experience down. Never finished might as well be an E/F tier since, as much as most FE fans love bitching about the games, if they're not actually willing to finish a game in this very niche genre then something went very wrong.

Last one, I promise. About this topic.

Me saying it’s dumb to view the setting through the lens of contemporary political issues (and only a very online set of political problems as well) is the opposite of political sperging tbh. People who’ve let politics consume them are the ones who see same-sex marriage options, that really do contain zero substance, as anything more than a meaningless concession to yurifags and fujos.

It might still be dumb and gay but it’s also not something that makes Faerghus an interesting political faction.

For another example: I think referring to a support chain where a girl doesn’t like a boy who likes her as “like a false rape accusation” is real political sperging. BUT I understand I’m perhaps the only white guy here so and these standards vary culturally. In some places it’s really rude to not perform the needful.

And yes I have reason to assume it’s a brown thing. I might explain sometime.

Can you two faggots fuck off to dms or something?
He just objects to me. I’m the one with stuff to say outside of that. It’s just not a real solution. We’d have nothing to talk about.

objectively correct fe tier list.png
Here is my tier list, plus I added the kaga sagas because i could. I also got to add that, despite really good seeming like i like those games more than alright, most of the games in really good are there because i like certains aspects of them like the story, the music or the presentation a lot, but I actually find them kind of tedious to replay, in contrast to the alright tier which I'm more inclined to replay but I don't like as much as the ones above in other aspects, while peak are games that i like in both aspects. (Also I'd like to add, i fucking hate fe1/book 1 a lot and if fe3 wasn't bundled together book 1 would be in dogshit tier and book 2 would be on really good)

No he didn't lol.

All you say is the same roundabout 3H sperging that usually circles back to your waifufagging of Edelgard.

It's become such a notable pattern at this point that I couldn't help but make a low effort edit poking fun at that fact.

Some of you really are humorless.

I gotta agree. 3H discourse is played out. Dimitri is a cuck, Claude is a diversity hire, Rhea is geriatric, and Edelgard accidentally recreates the political climate of medieval China.

Pick your favorite tard and fuck off at this point.

airdrop berrakh schizobabble is more fun than airdrop fujo horny-on-main'ing

I won't bother with a list; Conquest and Engage are tippy toppy even though I grew up on GBA and Tellius, and Kaga chemotherapy treatment for my malignant coombrain waifufag pairup-brain tumor was ineffectual. That really says it all, but I'll keep ranting and being the resident contrarian dickhead anyway.

I don't like slow games, I don't play musou or gacha, I don't like warpskipping. I'm a tryhard and like to play on the harder difficulties with no arena-ing or skirmishes or anything like that. I like raising my units and planning playthroughs around builds and support 'cores.' I highly value replayability. Fire Emblem stories, lore, characters, and writing are boring to me, and the gameplay consistently suffers for it when they're focused on. Miss me with the "bro hates reading" shit, literature suffers from excess the exact same way, and 'good' FE writing constantly trips over, repeats, and contradicts itself just getting from point A to B.

I like Revelation, and I think if you don't like Revelation, you're probably not using all of the tools and resources available to you - or, of course, muh story, but that's not my kind of conversation. Train up servant, Kaze, and Rinkah in the tutorial, ideally up to D axes so she can fight at 2-range, reclass your servant to something that can either enemy phase or nuke on player phase, and train up Subaki and Hana in the Mozu paralogue before the wind chapter. Sell the wyrmslayer, there are no wyverns for forever, and also use tonics, for the love of fuck. Look at the units on the map, think about who will fight what, and if +2 in something will make a big difference. Get a good idea of if/who to promote early so you can leverage them to train up other units that are better for juggernauting. Subaki is good because he has fast supports, good availability, and performs well across the whole spectrum of investment for both utility and combat. If you don't want to deal with Rev's weird economy as much then early promote Rinkah into blacksmith, level for salvage blow, and pass it down for Midori. Rev allows for a lot of creative and silly shit because it has 1 million characters and I like the pacing of it's difficulty, barring the first three chapters or whatever that are just grinding Corrin and servant.

Every Fire Emblem game has bad or annoying gimmick maps and acting like the snow map crosses any kind of meaningful line is retarded. Every Fire Emblem game has weird unit balance comparable to Nyx and Shura, and those games don't have the excuse of "lazily ported from other routes" to fall back upon; Wendy, Bantu, Fiona, Maerhen, etc. were all DESIGNED like that. I have an embarassing amount of hours in Conquest Lunatic from both challenge and casual playthroughs, and ranking Rev/BR really far apart from CQ just feels like posturing; I have a hard time believing someone loves Conquest THAT much if they're not able to find some similar pleasure from what are closely-related games, even if they're not as tightly-designed and hardcore. I don't like that Rev and BR are allowed to be the fandom's designated punching bag and scapegoat for the problems contained within the entire series just because Conquest is the designated Dark Souls of FE.

Awakening Lunatic is also pretty good, many units are viable, and Chrom!Robin lameassing your way through it is like Seth/Marcus javelin-ing your way through GBA and using that as your metric for why they're not fun.

NOOO stalker child, I WILL make fun of Garon cooming to his stepdaughter's JPOP routine

Patposting aside I think it's unfair to say that Fates suffers only from problems contained within the entire series. I don't like the equipment system being an experimental, unhappy medium between traditional FE inventory and a more full-fledged RPG, no other FE game has cut itself into thirds to be sold separately like Pokemon, and Dragon Veins are one of those mechanics you either love or are just totally indifferent to when entire maps are designed around them.
I like Revelation, and I think if you don't like Revelation, you're probably not using all of the tools and resources available to you
I don't like Revelation because it bored me and I felt like it wasted my time in a way no other FE game has.

NOOO stalker child
Leif is a stalker child of sorts who also enjoys prison, when you think about it

no other FE game has cut itself into thirds to be sold separately like Pokemon
Pokemon version differences really aren't comparable to Fates, though. The three versions of Fates are all different and complete games (quality of the stories notwithstanding) with ~20 chapters apiece and each with unique final bosses and approaches to level design. Yes, there is map reuse, but the maps play out differently from BR to CQ to Rev because of differences in AI, route-exclusive weapons and staves, enemy placement, their stats, and your own unit availability. Enemies have way bigger numbers and are overall more aggressive in Rev; you can't play that shit like earlygame CQ and get away with it. Like, on lunatic, a base level 1 archer Mozu will one-round fliers in CH10 Port Dia of CQ, and do some damage to 11 DEF Oni Savages. But in the wind chapter of Rev, CH9, Spear Fighters and Oni Savages have 14/15 DEF, which are numbers you don't see in CQ until promoted enemies start popping up, so like halfway into the game where you'll realistically have a few 20/1 units.

I bet a lot of people wouldn't mind the Fates model of three-way-whatif-ication as much if it was attached to a game that looked and read like Tactics Ogre instead of abrasive anime bullshit. It's probably a heinous thing to say, but I think the model has some practical potential, and that fans wouldn't mind that style of asset reuse if it meant a wider variety of more games, more often. SoV is a dressed-up NES game and people still like it for it's pretty face and voice despite the creaky knees and bad hip. The hunger is absolutely there; FE is pretty inactive as far as, fuckin, semi-major Nintendo IPs go if you're not into the gacha, so I don't think they'd need to bust their asses on some magic tome of epic internally-consistent lore or legendary relic of perfect and unique game design to satisfy people. I'm defending Rev after all, and since I like Fates and abrasive anime bullshit, that model happened to work out really well for me in that instance, especially since droughts between games are getting longer and more frequent, leaving more time for replays.

I can only imagine that an SoV or Sacred Stones fan or whatever would be similarly happy if their game got the same three-way-whatif treatment. Or maybe not, if the story wasn't good enough; it's hard to get into the headspace of the more story-inclined and what they expect. Like they're on Earth and I'm in Gradlon smoking on that Corrupted Loptrian Belhalla-grown Dark Emblem pack watered with the blood of 38 divine dragons with Lord Sombron while working on my lats. This is the shit that oneshot Sigurd and gave Deirdre amnesia. This shit put Tiki to sleep for 1000 years
