I am sure this is not a hot take but holy shit the story in Engage is so fucking bad

why the fuck would you kill your MC, asspull him back to life, kill him again, then immediately asspull him back in an even stupider way

I am just speedreading everything at this point. Gameplay is fun though
As long as people can admit the story is bad it’s okay by me. None of this “I acrually wanted generic shit the entire time” cope.

So I've been playing the DLC and what's up with the whole "Robin is Chrom's other half" BS? Is this more localizers twisting things into something different or what? Its been a minute since I played Awakening, but from what I remember there wasn't anything gay about Chrom or Robin. If I remember right they were just two bros by the end of the game, weren't they?

When it comes to fujo baiting we can’t be 100% sure it’s just the localizers. But Engage has a pretty egregious localization AND the localizers would do it of they could so blame them anyway.

kind of sad that his most popular non homo ship is with Dorothea. He can do better than the crazy chick that thinks the little kid that got flustered by looking at a naked chick when he was like 10 is just as bad as the rapist nobles she used to deal with.
“It’s kind of sad his most popular ship is with the hot girl who gives him lots of babies and was able to show kindness to him in the middle of a spat she had every reason to take seriously.”

Sounds like he paid a very small price and can’t actually do better. I think you just heard that phrase before from someone else, and repeated it here uncritically.

It’s just so silly to me. I know that e-girls frame everything they dislike as rape but Dorothea doesn’t so why pretend she does? It just makes you look like a NEET who surfs too much twitter. Or watches too much anime.

Dead horses? Never heard of ‘em.

I don't know for certain, but it feels like a badly-phrased point about Robin being Chrom's best friend and closest advisor who was integral to his success as Exalt, rather than open fujo shit. Then again, I don't know Japanese, so I don't know if this is about Robin being the brains behind Chrom's success an effort to make something romantic.

Robin if you can ignore the fujo implications can be considered Chrom's other half given their bond and shit by the end of the game. Robin is pretty much Chrom's shadow and is a huge part of Chrom's success, not to mention Chrom helps Robin deal with Grima and Robin offers to die to ensure Chrom's safety. So that isn't exactly hard to say as a statement in a vacuum, but people will twist it however they want.

Do remember that Lucina is Chrom's child, so unless Chrom just fucks some dumb bitch and they divorce seconds later, being homo with Robin is at minimum cheating on Lucina's mother. So honestly this whole gay narrative just makes Chrom and/or Robin look bad given the implication of Lucina's canonical existence.

I thought Robin got all the bitches :(.
Really, Robin is apparently enough of a Chad to be able to bang not only Chrom's sisters, but his daughter (from the future, but still). And that's not even getting into the ability to smash the local Dragon Goddess’ bombshell daughter. What a guy.

Then again, Chrom is notorious for being able to steal your girl if you don't put a ring on it before the end of Part 1, so he's not that powerful of a Chad.

Did he cuck you out of Tharja?
Bro, no. I wish. :story:

That no good nigga jumped on fucking Sully of all people lmao. My fault for not A supporting him fast enough.
Unfortunately not possible in game, but the thought of it just now has activated many a neuron in my head. Chrom x Tharja is a great crack ship that I'm ashamed I hadn't thought of until now.
The secret OTP.

I like Tharja because she proves An Irrational Love of MC-kun > literally any morals whatsoever.

Are Tharjafags cuckolds? The Greatest Thread in the History of Threads…

Its pretty impressive how much of a lady's man Chrom is when he's not even able to figure out that Lucina is a woman until her mask breaks.

The first time I played Awakening blind, and I almost S ranked with Sully because I didn't realize that that meant you get hitched until a friend mentioned it. Her supports with Robin suck. I liked her convos with pretty much every other support better.

I just liked using her to pair up with Robin, and that was basically the most unkillable unit on my team, until I got Lucina and then her and Robin were routinely hitting 150's until the end of the game.

Shit, you tell me nigga.

I just was playing :( . Lighten up.

Oh, I didn’t know. I skipped all of the supports. The localization team pretty much raped the story. I hate that I recognize that kind of shit now.

If /v/ is any guide then yes Tharjafags are more likely than average to like NTR.
But much less likely than Hildafags or Rheafags who go into the dark side outright so don’t feel too bad.

Tbh it might just be /v/ and so it haunts the girls they like for other reasons.

Fuck, I like Rhea, too :story:. Goddamn, I just don’t have the right takes when it comes to this video game shit.

I am almost curious to hear what you think of Edelstans.

They’re in an unenviable position. Most of what people say about Edelgard is bullshit or extremely naive nonsense contrived to find fault with anyone who has to resort to force. Edelgard just pisses them off for totally emotional reasons so they’ll lie.

But at its core she is the antagonist and Good Guy Dimitri would have probably joined her to change Fodlan for the better (plus her lack of dealing with TWSITD) so her haters sort of win by default. Her Faustian bargain failed.

So they probably have a lot of cognitive dissonance. The other side lies (when it doesn’t even need to) but she’s still written the way she’s written.

It’s not like Dorothea where she simply isn’t written like a lazy, indolent e-girl so the attempts to turn her into one via “critique” fall flatter. Despite both characters having the same type of “””detractors””” more or less.

My thoughts exactly. And this is my first time playing the game!

I don’t entirely agree with Edelgard’s methods or whatever the fuck but shit somehow I still like her.

Fuck all that though. Hubert best Eagle.

Its fucking bizarre. Basically they decide to be gym bros, than they wind up giving themselves food poisoning from some dried out seaweed Robin buys and then they get hitched. It felt like a C and B support stretched over the course of the entire support route. I didn't hate the conceit at the start, but it never really goes anywhere.

I wound up hooking her up with the monk who looked like a chick. It just seemed funny to me.

Yeah, it's really funny when they say Edelfags are the one who use her trauma as an excuse for the shit she does then say Rhea dindu nuffin because the mole people (who were forced to venerate a goddess that just popped one day and said "i made this world") killed her family, and also that weird headcanon they have about Dimitri being a churchfag when he just simply doesn't buy into the end justifies the means mentality, which he explicitly says after the chapter where you fight Sylvain's brother, and repeats in hopes in his support with Claude ( who /v/ also seems to shitpost about being badly written just because he opposes Rhea, although there might be other stuff i don't know about since i didn't buy hopes).

Claude is badly written. That is true. But they think Camilla is well-written because she has le tragic backstory so fuck ‘em.

半身 (han-shin) does mean the half of a body/a person but generally in the context of upper-half and lower-half (respectively 上半身 and 下半身).
Robin (in japanese, he's called Rufle) basically says they're both in the same ring to compensate each other's weaknesses but @The Zekenator described their relationship pretty well too.
