I agree. From what I've seen of it, the main issue Mangs' current FE content has is that he has no one like Mekkah to tell him that he's being a retard and to move on. The chat for his livestreams are just filled with sycophants that egg on every idiotic hing that comes out of his mouth. He's still more tolerable on his own than Mekkah is, and I think their respective channels' growth after their split reflect that, but he can still frequently be irritating with no one to call him on his bullshit occasionally. Their old FE LPs are still probably some of the best for FE that I know of because of their dynamic, even if I can't stand to watch them at this point. Funnily enough his AW stuff doesn't have this problem as much, even if he isn't that great at AW itself.Mangs and Mekkah were the typical straight man and comic relief duo, it worked quite well and was probably the best dynamic at the time within this space. Even today I think that holds true if you can ignore the current age tension between the two and look back at their lets plays together vs every other duo.
I do think a lot of Mangs' solo stuff is not really that good because he himself doesn't have a straight man for his antics which are sometimes frustratingly bad at points without editing, but Mekkah is incredibly boring without someone more interesting to talk to.
For the life of me I cannot figure out why this guy cares that much about Mangs and the shit from 2019. Talk about rent free; he's pushing 40 now and this is seemingly his greatest passion in life. Harassing communities and being a general pest to anyone that doesn't publicly denounce some youtuber who may or may not have done something naughty. Really, his hotel rant tells you pretty much all you need to know about this guy if you don't feel like going through his thread. And the Advance Wars wiki is currently being held hostage over that incident from 2019 because the main admin still fucking hates Mangs
On the contrary, I find them interesting because FE allows for a lot of unique individual expression and experiences based one who dies, which units get used, which chapters get visited, etc. You could have a dozen people do ironmans for FE7 and each one would turn out noticeably different. Also you can just skip the dialogue (most people still playing the older games do anyways) so I don't really understand that point.I don't find any FE let's play interesting. Dumb reactions over RNG and misplays is entertaining for teens at best. These are singleplayer games with a lot of dialogue.
This is very reductive and also just wrong, even if I almost agree with you on tier lists. As for tier lists, the main issue is that most FE games have already been solved, so to speak, especially GBA FE. Whenever Mekkah or whoever else makes another 2 hours long tier list video, no new ground is being tread. We all know Marcus is good and so and so is bad. So yes, if you look at tier lists specifically through the lens of figuring out which units are generally better than others, they are mostly pointless by now. That being said, they still provide a guide to the uninitiated as to what units are worth using and investing time and resources into and which are not. The construction, discussion, and debate over tier lists is also just fun. There's a reason why one of the most popular things to do with AI voice generation at the moment is to have U.S. presidents make tier lists. It's fun to debate over shit.Tier lists are pointless. Unit analyses are sort of pointless in their own right too due to the design philosophy of making the game beatable with whoever your favorites be (disregarding unbalanced aka "hard" modes).
I really can't see how unit analyses are pointless though. The minutiae of what a unit can and cannot do, when they can do, how much investment they need to preform adequately is all important information that isn't rendered pointless just because you can technically beat the game with any combination of units. If you want to beat the game as easily and consistently as possible, the fewest amount of turns possible, or whatever metric you care to use use, you inevitably have to analyze the units. Just because you can technically use Sophia and beat the game with her doesn't mean she's going to save your ironman run or save turns in an ltc, for example.
Lol. Go play FE12 Lunatic Reverse, FE13 Lunatic+, or FE5 blind and come back and tell me guides have no use when it comes to FE. It's a moot points anyways because ifficulty is subjective; just because you don't find it difficult doesn't mean everyone else also thinks it's not difficult. Sometimes I feel like people forget the SRPGs are still a niche genre that filters a lot of people, especially before casual modes.Walkthroughs/strategy guides in general aren't pointless if a game is difficult or makes it unclear how to progress (doesn't apply to FE).
