if Fire Emblem and Nintendo can take action on its localizer for removing content in dialogue cos the localizer's employee felt the need to push their poilitical views?


or if players can do anything so that we can get the real dialogues for characters
instead of the trilogy games Birthright/Conquest and Revelations going "..." for an entire interaction.
cos "Talk of death and war" in a War game = Too violent and bad.
I'm pretty sure that the devs had already signed off on that, otherwise we'd be seeing quite an few lawsuits

You've been living under a rock for decades if you think companies give enough of a shit to do anything about this. While that infamous support is really funny and bad, localizations have botched Japanese games for so long that it is just expected at this point. It is more just a thing you deal with to sell in the West, at least that's how these changes are always pitched to the suits and creators. You see this with anime dubs too.

We would need something utterly insane to happen for something to maybe be done, like someone would have to completely flip a political message or something like that. That would likely be a behind closed doors situation as I doubt the game would even ship for us to know what happened exactly.

-Nintendo's, and Intelligent Systems, primary audience is Japan and I doubt they remotely care that us gaijins are fed with subpar TLs from the western branch. There was that one time Nintendo had to make a public apology, with refunds available, for japanese customers when Atlus carried the american WiiU censorship on the japanese Switch version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions (the SMT x Fire Emblem crossover).

There have been one or two situations where companies have issued brand new scripts for a few games that had really bad translations. I think Azure Strike Gunvolt was one of them, River City Girls was another. But, none of them have been for nintendo first, or second, party games and I think that's because NOA and Treehouse work closer with the japanese studios which used to be a good thing. But, now it just means that the culture that's developed there is gonna stick to it a lot harder than it would at places like NIS America or Xseed (which are both pretty bad in their own rights, but they can occasionally put out something worth spending money on)
 
i have the 3h dialogue set to japanese (i do speak it though) and it's made the things lost in translation easily noticeable.
my favorite example:
when lord whoeverthefuck can't make it to that one battle in crimson flower (i really did not care and wasn't paying attention up until this point) hubert's japanese dialogue implies that he deliberately fed the dude some 'strange' (en translated it to 'bad') mushrooms, where in the english version it downplays his 'teehee oh i wonder who could've done that' feel to his lines.

hubert canonically doped some guy up on psylocibin.
it's essentially the same reason mother 3 is never getting localized: the funny mushrooms.

Realistically speaking, and as a whole, why would japanese companies bother double-checking the faithfulness of game translations in foreign languages? That would require some manpower skilled in linguistics within their own branch, and do a long processus of checking entire blocks of scripts, for something that don't impact their main market in Japan. Not to mention japanese games continue to be often sold into two separate variants on consoles: one for the japanese (+ the asian market sometimes) and the overseas release which scraps away japanese text.

Mind you, it's a tough pill to swallow and I can understand that learning moonrunes isn't entirely ideal either (mainly due that a lot of learning materials simply suck - in my case, there is literally nothing good available in my native tongue - and it requires a lot of patience and dedication too).

I'm afraid to ask if Engage really has a little girl's feet be a plot point and subject of multiple CGs.
MC sees Veyle wounded on the leg, during their second encounter (iirc after Yunaka's chapter), and tends her wound with bandages.
This is later shown as a proof in chapter 10-11 when Evil Veyle is revealed to be still Veyle in the flesh, and not someone else, as the same bandages are present on her leg

I remember getting to that scene and being impressed how everyone acted like you would act in that situation, I initially assumed Ryuuru and the rest were gonna go full retard, try to talk to her & go full denial but nope, they actually tell her to fuck off. Accentuated by Ryuuru saying she's no longer friends with Veyle and she would likely execute her next time.

Which doesn't exactly happen of course but that's due of Sepia pretty much giving an explanation speech of Veyle's double-persona condition in Firene's port.

But it seems that scene impacted well enough to spawn this fanart:

Yeah, that spoilered scene is fucking hilarious, along with Griss randomly showing up at the end Chapter 15 and almost ruining her evil side's plan

I mean, I’d somewhat believe it, but only because Fates was god fucking awful. Bit of a confession, I’ve never actually beaten the Revelations route - the writing for that route was so terrible I peaced out, and that’s before the massive Army Bloat of getting literally every character AND the children (who made no fucking sense in Fates compared to Awakening, but I can make an easy guess why they were a feature…)

Maybe one day I’ll just brute force my way through that route by just cheating and playing on Game Journalist mode (no seriously, who’s bright idea was Phoenix Mode?), just to say I got the “True Ending”

Yeah this dispute is sadly waged by the two shittiest sides it’s possible to imagine. Neither could actually convince anyone of publicly endorsing their views but only one has credentials to make changes on their own so here we are.
 
Then why not make their own game?

You can buy an gutted template for Fire Emblem for around 30 bucks, and there's dozens of people who are already making their own hacks of the older games
Because they know almost no one would play their shitty SRPGStudio games about saving trans poc kids, so they have to ruin other pre existing games by adding their shit to them so they can make believe about being actual writers.
