I know it might be a shocker to the "intelligent" folks at gamesradar but people like cool characters regardless of race. Basilio was my favorite Awakening character despite my lack of melanin and I liked his relationship with Flavia and the whole Khan concept but nah twink "black" character that's what really matters

I never really cared about Basilio too much.

And then the fakeout death happened, and I swore I would "solo" Walhart's map with just MU/Chrom. And I did.
And then he revealed the fakeout during the fight with Validar, and from then on out, Basilio quickly got elevated to "magnificent bastard" for me.

I still think the game itself looks really promising but the character designs are all over the place and I thought previous games had really solid designs with few duds up until now.
My thoughts exactly. IS is really scraping the bottom of the barrel, if this is all they can come up with.

Honestly the new trailer makes me very hesitant to buy Engage. Like the gameplay looks neat but the story and characters feel like it's taking a step back to the extremely childish "Power of Friendship" bullshit without anything interesting. Hell the story looks really derivative of Awakening.
Major step down from what they attempted to do before. Probably doesn't want to make anything divisive among the fans, but if that's the case, who gives a fuck? Just make a semi-interesting story.
Are those guys even black? They look like white/Asian anime characters dipped in chocolate. I would assume they were Indian at most foreign. You know, just like Claude and Gray before them.
They look like characters a Twitter artist would use to blackwash for Inktober. In other words, pretty shit design.

If they're an interesting character with more going on than their darker skin then neat, good for them. Usually FE characters have at least a moderate gimmick and personality. Hard disagree on 'character design' for Engage so far, most seem garish as hell. I know they don't actually care and just want them to all have various inclusive points.

Engage looks like a Burger King’s Kids Club collided with a vtuber studio.
That's long been FE's achilles heel. The Supports got around the limitations of showing characters do or experience things on old hardware. But they became a baked in staple so now everything is explained. Which doesn't quite work in practice.

So I find myself having to pretend people who aren't reliable on the personalities and arcs of minor characters know the right ways to snake around the big issues with the big characters.
You see, it’s like the Tank or the Automotive Industry! I’m onto something here!

The Tank was just mobile artillery. It was good because wars needed to give their artillery some mobility however they could. Not because the tank was the end all be all of war machines. As we now see in Russia-Ukraine it’s too antiquated and basically just a big target.

And the reason cars aren’t getting cheaper or easier to maintain like you’d expect is because auto financing is too profitable. Financing which existed because people needed to drive but cars weren’t affordable.

Supports are a way of telling what you didnt have the space to show. But now they do and so the series ought to deemphasize them (not eliminate).

I haven't really been into Fire Emblem since Awakening, but I just wanted to say Engage looks kinda cringe, The blue/red hair and heterochromia is absolutely ridiculous. Gives me OC do not steal vibes. None of the character designs look appealing to me at all. They look like they came out of random anime character generator. Devdan will always be best Fire Emblem nigga.

Looks like they’ll be reusing some maps from FE5 & 6, and you can only use the rings 3X in a row w/ out resetting the ability via different actions, after 3 turns with ring. Villains use rings too, which we knew from previous trailers iirc. Rings work sort of like a gambit, and as a break if the 3X per thing is accurate. Still hate the designs, but am interested in keeping tabs on the mechanics and strategy options. Wonder if strategy will be at all challenging. The English localization of this trailer will drop anytime now.

Random question, have you guys seen anyone who.vehemently hates the cast of 3 Houses? Because I found an guy who hates Dorothea over some retarded reason. But I've archived his threads on SF (fucking retard kept the same screename)

Page 1 of his static character thread, and the second (and final) page of people proving that he's wrong

He's high off of copium

Ignoring the results of those popularity contests (page 2)

And now, he's being delusional about Tumblr, for some reason.

And while I was archiving shit, I also found...some fanfiction about the Lion King!

Not like this. Though I do know other people who specifically hate Dorothea. What’s funny is this guy basically admits it’s bs and not based on her actions in the first post you linked.

While for them it’s obviously feeling jilted by a fictional female character because they say blatant incel-tier things and conflate her with irl e-hoes she has nothing in common with (besides big boobs).

The “no character development” canard is common, but it’s because she doesn’t give up on her dreams like they expected she would (and not true once you look elsewhere in her character for an arc).

Her arc is no longer deflecting how she feels off of her glamorous persona and dropping her guard around men (and women) who are interested in her. Prior to this she would keep things stiflingly distant or even disdainful if she had a problem with the person. Because that was better than giving up her leverage and being vulnerable to a relative stranger (who definitely wants to sleep with her but only might love her).
