Good. Best noble needs to have a chance to shine.

Also, (and slightly off-topic), but were any of you surprised that Hubert
has siblings
? Small detail, I know, but I feel it explains a lot about his… uh, protective side.
I always liked him as a character, and this was a good revelation. In the fandom he’s just considered a simp. But he’s much smarter than Yuri and Claude, or written more smartly.

Same, I do too! But sadly it's either that or a creepy top when you look at the side who ships him with Ferdie when he's obviously much more than that. (credit for wording goes to @Flaming Insignias. Nailed it on the head where I felt uncomfortable with fans portrayal of the dudes in that regard)

With what I've seen of Three Hopes, I'm starting to favor him more. Can't wait to play as him whenever I get the actual game.

Does Three Hopes have perma death? Because with FE getting more story focused, having characters possibly die is extremely detrimental for the story
It does, though I don't know which characters actually die and which just retreat never to fight again. I assume that the route-exclusive characters retreat due to plot relevance, while most other characters just die if they reach HP Zero.

Or you lose the map

This almost never mattered, anyone plot important later just 'retreats' and is too wounded to ever fight again or they just auto lose the map if they're required for the following cutscene. In 3Houses iirc everyone basically just retreats if they're important at all. For example in Ike's games if Soren, the strategist who shows up in many cutscenes, Soren will always retreat and just be inactive for the rest of the game.

I'm watching a kill em all 3H playthrough with Edelgard and it seems like characters like Hubert basically exist as some Schrödinger car and appear in certain cutscenes and disappear from other.

Weird, the strategy guides say Constance is the last Wolf and is recruited in Chapter 11. That said, I do intend to send Bernie and Yuri to kill Count Varley once I have that encounter, because those two definitely deserve to do it.
Oh yeah she was my bad, that is why I should not post right after waking up.

Except Ashe. Ashe fucking dies in the lava map on the Golden Deer path. Claude personally tossed him into the soup.

Ashe isn't important, and that's as an enemy iirc, and more importantly Ashe sucks anyway. Claude did the world a service by dunking that baby face into some boiling bubbling molten soup.

It’s gonna take me a while to start Azure Gleam. Forgot to s rank some early paralogues for good battalions so I gotta go back. Just got to chapter 4.

They seem to expect you to do Hard and Maddening with some high level characters because poor Annette struggled to kill fools.
Have I ever mentioned my disdain for the support system of the Fodlan games? Some supports take forever to unlock, and then you end up with some that can't go forward because you missed some sort of story point before it was outdated. Means I’ll be replaying Gleam for a few supports.

Which? I like warning.
