They didn't remake it when they were chronologically remaking the Archanaea games, and Awakening throwing in references to Gaiden is a lot less of a hint when Awakening threw in references to literally every prior game in the series. Saying that Gaiden being sandwiched between two Marth games somehow made it a marketing cornerstone in IS's absurd reverence for Archanaea is downright delusional.

Shadow Dragon sold pretty well when you compare to Sacred Stones before it (from what is publicly available on sales) and reviewed decently. It didn’t light the world on fire but it wasn’t a flop. Shadows of Valentia had the misfortune of releasing after the Nintendo Switch dropped, so it was doomed from the start on having low visibility and people not buying it because they’re buying other games. OG Fire Emblem was always a niche prospect given that it is the exact same game as it was 30+ years ago but in English. None of this shows that there is a lack of interest in Fire Emblem’s pre-worldwide history.
If you're referring to the JP only releases they each have a pretty religious cult following from what I've seen. If you're new(ish) to the series and want something relatively simple play FE6 (Binding Blade) or FE3 (Mystery of the Emblem, which is itself a remake of FE1 with an additional story). If you want something that's pretty different from the rest with an amazing story, play FE4 (Genealogy) or FE2 (Gaiden), though I strongly recommending play Shadows of Valentia over Gaiden as it is an extremely faithful remake of it.
I'd recommend FE5 after beating either FE1 and/or FE3 just because those games are easier and similar in map design, character movement, trading, etc.
FE5 is the best game for beginners IMO. Quickest way to get the full FE experience. Just plug and play.
Yeesh. Rolf joins in chapter 9. Plus, PoR has the most forgiving Bonus Exp as far as I know, you get regular level ups, unlike RD which only always give 3 levels.
Watched an play through of it. Under normal circumstances he probably would be unusable. But since bonus experience is a thing and the game doesn't really throws a lot of bullshit at you, he'll be fine. Probably not one of the best units in the game, but still.
