I’m concerned that Fortune’s Weave is going to have a cast of ugly scarred-up old geezers and niggers instead of beautiful women. If the gameplay’s close to Three Houses, the characters would be all the game has going for it, and I’d rather them be ones that are nice to look at.
The title is Fortune's >>>Weave<<<, shieeeet was bound to be nigger'd. "Fortune's Weave" is also just mid as hell, might as well call it Destiny's Knot, or Fate's String, or Norn's Stitches lol. And no FE title will ever come close to topping FE4's original name - Descent of Jihad.

Going by Vincent's analysis on SF, an lot of the background characters might be approaching middle age.

Welp, I watched the whole 25 mins of "LEO IS LE BIGOTT" video because I've lost control of my life

Well, that's not entirely true. I actually confess that I'm a big fan of Leo and Forrest's relationship, it's one of the few parts of Fates that I genuinely thought was well written and made me reflect about it.

Leo's whole arc can be summarized as understanding that you don't need to base your whole life around looking as socially presentable as possible, imagine wearing Leo's shoes for example: You're the prince of Nohr, arguably the greatest nation around the continent, and your lil brat of a son for WHATEVER reason, thinks that they're a magical fairytale princess, wearing pink dresses and talking like they've never met their father before (which is kinda true). Can you imagine being in that situation? hearing "Oh is that son of Prince Leo of Nohr? Bwahahaha! Are their undergarments feminine too?" "Can't believe the Prince of Nohr would let their son dress like this" "Is this what my future king would look like if Siegbert dies early? What a disgrace." for almost every day of your life?

But then after you save your boy's butt from some bandits, you then start to watch some villagers coming back to your son just to thank them. They don't see a man in a dress, or look at you with an air of disappointment, all they see is a kind soul that helped in their time of most need, and that soul is your very own son... your offspring... your legacy. Maybe afterall, there's more than what others see in you than just your physical appearence, sometimes being a prince is to be an example to your people, with your collar inside out and all, and your son... was the very first to understand this.

I find it to be great writing because they never treat Forrest's whole character in this instance as "cute man in a dress uwu", you could replace his schtick by giving him a sailor mouth, making him not not groom himself properly, or even having him hold an IQ of a rock, he's a man who's not afraid of helping those in need, no matter how they treat him, which inspires Leo to not worry too much of doing the same.

... and then I get to hear an entire video of this schmuk daring to say that Leo's whole arc was "ummmm acktually Leo is only cruel towards his boy because he's a transphobe chud which makes you valid to not forgive him because trans rights are human rights xDDD". He flandarizes arguably the only three-dimensional relationship in this entire game to make his queer audiencce have a "feels good" moment. It's infuriating man.

He also keeps mentioning of Leo having autismo too, which kinda pisses me off even more.

I seriously despise nu-FETubers.

Precisely.

This is a pitfall of IS's own making.

Honestly those lines are the only non-dissonant thing about that arc. Saving villagers isn't gonna change any of those opinions at large, and the world (especially enemy nations) would still be clowning on this kid like he's the faggy prince from Braveheart, not a good look. The nobility (especially in war time) had to be socially presentable or at the very least appear tough so as to not lose face and command respect, that was the price of nobility.

The writing of Fates was weebish to the point where it became too dissonant with the medieval warfare setting. Yes I understand Awakening really kicked off that trend, and the treehouse localization didn't help, and it probably got away with more than it should have given its status as the "savior of the franchise", but my point stands. There were always elements of FE that were dissonant with the era represented, that's the nature of the beast as a JRTS game, but the fags, the niggers, transvestites, and the heavy petting minigame... Fates just went too far and the franchise still hasn't recovered and probably never will. You didn't see Marth dressing up as a girl, you instead saw Lucina dressing as a man to put on an air of strength - a tougher face. Again, Awakening got it started, and the Radiance games were getting close to it with all the furries and the nigger, but Fates got really retarded.

You wouldn't catch Ike in drag would you? Would you ever see Leif having to reprimand one of his troops for being a complete barracks bunny whore? Could you imagine Lewyn telling Seliph, "It's okay you don't have to be presentable all the time - future Emperor, go wear a dress bro."

I honestly think Forrest and Rosado only exist because IS thought Lucius was an staple archetype that had to be in the series "Finale" and introduced Libra. They probably thought a boy who doesn't go through the effort of looking feminine, but gets confused for a girl, would be stale if they did it back to back, so they scaled it to an 11 and made Forrest (and Rosado) a trap.

Is this thread appropriate for discussing cool Fire Emblem hacks? Wanted to ask before I totally shit up the thread. Haven't played a new release since Awakening and that game just kinda sucked and the story was gay, so I can't imagine its been much better.
Go for it, we've already discussed plenty of rom hacks here, both good like DLATMOL or Mangs hacks, and bad, like the ones from that weirdo autist who made a hack full of his rape harem fantasies, and that one with Dart as an MtF troon.

Okay sweet!

So I recently completed The Dark Amulet and found out that dev made a sequel called Shadow of Dawn which I just finished a couple nights ago.

Even though that dev (I think he goes by Vorgus) inserted a few fags into his story, I gotta say, he wrote a super engaging story. The guy has a knack for dialog, world building, etc. Even the twists you see coming, you're still invested because you want to see how these characters deal with it.

Played on the intended Hard Mode on both hacks, both were overall balanced except that FUCKING turn limit on the finale of Dark Amulet..... Every unit gets used and promoted in a way thats not grinding and let's you narrow down to your best when its time to use the bench more.

Great use of music on the GBA sound font, overall solid choices on back ground music depending on the scene, no stupid "one enemy left alive" theme.

I no lifed these hacks with my PC out of commission and I haven't even wanted to work on it because I was having too much fun and so invested in the story.

I've seen Dark Amulet around but never got around to playing it. I'll have to give it a try. If story is your thing, I find Parrhesia's hacks to be very well written. Drums of War is excellent. Dream of Five is IMO, not as good, but definitely still up there in terms of story and gameplay quality.

Rebellion Saga is still my favorite that I've played in a long time. FEE3 just happened though and I've got to say not a single project looked interesting to me. Feels like the quality at FEU is dropping even as more interesting things end up being possible with the tech.

Funny enough im about to start Dream of Five. Where do you feel it fell short?

In fact, Forrest is SO NOT a trans woman that not only he openly says "I'm a man. I'm not a woman at all, far from it!", but his personal skill is specifically geared against male enemies. Anyone who think he's a trans woman is incredibly stupid or willingly blind, same to nyone who thinks Rosado or Lucius or Libra are trans women and not GNC guys.

Also damn, it's been ten years already? Time to whip out my 3DS and re-start my last Fates Revelation playthrough, I think I was about to go against Sumeragi but I can't remember anymore.
