I just wish their approach to balance wasn't, "every job should be equally viable for every fight".
All jobs should have fights they are good and bad at. Players should be encouraged to try different jobs different places, just like in older job based final fantasies.
This is the same team that removed paradox-ice in the same swoop as they completely killed nonstandard, then added it back in as a button you just press in ice phase because it's there.
The same team that made paradox-fire instant-cast, but didn't realize that this made timing your despair extremely tight because the AF timer would start ticking from the moment you did P-F, rather than when the cast finished as in EW. Meaning you were incentivized to squeeze 4 F4s in before P-F. Their fix... was to make Despair instant. Which made BLM far and away the most-mobile caster.
They have no idea what they're doing. The person in charge of the job doesn't like it and wants it to be completely smoothbrained.
I believe PCT also got some nerfs that will make it trash in non-ult content, and anyways melee got a bunch of buffs for no apparent reason. Phys-ranged just kill yourself at this point.

At least from my quick scan on the hellish pit that is Reddit they said it would be 'slightly nerfed'. I'll believe it when I see it. Making melee worth half a damn might be nice since I enjoy those classes.

I mean, VPR and SAM are right below PCT in most savages, with BLM at the top. NIN, DRG, and MNK all slot in right below them, as you would expect, and then there's SMN/RDM and the Phys-ranged. Melee was also overtuned for basically the entirety of EW in a similar line of thinking.
PCT being 'slightly nerfed' is a byword for "won't do anything to their ult performance, will drop them significantly everywhere else" to me.
I might not be remembering correctly, but wasn’t Wuk completely absent from the 7.1 trailer and yet was still shoved into the patch? We already know the patch will be awful other than the dungeon and raid and the member berry fight with Beatrix, as usual with dawntrail.
0.6% enrage in P4 on FRU. I'm aiming for a clear before next patch releases. Probably would have gotten to final phase but one of the DPS died during Crystallize Time. Literally just waiting for a clean pull now and a party that can pull it off.
Final phase doesn't look hard at all, just the usual "final phase victory lap" you see in ultimates where you're just trying to avoid fucking up due to nerves. It's literally three mechanics on repeat: Exalines, Towers+Cleave combo, and light-party stacks with swaps to avoid dying to the next hit.
The cutscene between P4/P5 is also apparently like a minute long which is actually so helpful since it means a lotta shit will come off cooldown as soon as you go into final phase.

7.1 was a bit too quick to write her out of the patch, but 7.2 gives em plenty of time to de-emphasize Wuk Lamat wherever they can get away with it. She'll still be there of course, but maybe more in the background rather than going up to you and going "I need to do this for Tuliyollal and Papa".
I wouldn't be surprised if 7.3 is the last time we seriously see Wuk Lamat before they basically bin her as they prepare for the next expansion. Assuming, of course, that they follow the "first 3 patches to conclude previous expansion, last two to set up new expansion" formula you saw before Endwalker.
The Black Mage changes I feel show the biggest issue with running an MMO.
When the fuck do you listen to your fans?
See the biggest problem a lot of MMO's run into is that the hyper autistic people complaining about things becoming easier aren't your primary customers, in fact these retards will run off your biggest source of income if you listen to them and then never play the game as it's too difficult for them.
But if you cater exclusively to the casual audience like S.E seem to be doing you have a similar problem where things reach this slop crescendo and everything feels the exact same making people leave.
The hard part is finding that balance of "Yes we have to make this so people play and give us money but also unique enough for them not to just go to WoW" Originally FF at least had it's story to keep people but now they've shit the bed with that they're losing people.
From the trailer and the Live Letter today, I'm feeling much more optimistic about the rest of this expansion. Yes the MSQ will probably still be a wet fart, but the side content is shaping up to be much more entertaining. I'm liking what I'm seeing of Space Firmament, especially since it seems intended to be completely self-contained from Land to Hand. Being open from level 10 also means that lots of people will be able to get into crafting that felt it was possibly prohibitively expensive to grind to cap. Plus the intention of the crafting "relic" seems to make endgame tools much more accessible as well.
I am, however, skipping the raid tier this time around. The bosses certainly look fun and interesting, but the gear they showed in the LL was incredibly lackluster. I'll come back to it for the mount after 7.4/5 probably.
I'll probably return to the game for a few weeks once the content is actually out around late may, lets see if it holds my interest. Judging by the BLM changes 8.0 is going to be a hilarious trainwreck just from the job changes alone.
Honestly even as a non-BLM main, doing this would be the last nail in the "jobs are getting improved 7.2/3/4/5/8.0" cope. They clearly saw the collective disappointment with 7.0 Black Mage, they saw the frustration at Picto balancing issues, they referred to a need to make jobs and content less mindless; forcing BLM into the caster mold that outmoded it is just an insult to the people who stuck with it, at this point.
I'll give the new Savages and Field Op a shot but assuming this isn't just pure ragebait, I'm not even sure what kind of players they're trying to cater to, just that it's not me.
The fact that a post telling Yoshi to kill himself on the OF forums has still not been removed after all this time should be the final shred of proof that he doesn't actually read his own forums.
I wanted to main BRD a little longer but honestly everytime I think about resubbing to the game I feel a pit in my stomatch to think they're just further making it shittier for no reason whatsoever, is there any piece of content you guys are looking forward in the future?
