The Endwalker patches show the 13th being flooded by darkness, and that’s just as bad as the first being flooded by light. Anyone who’s played shadowbringers knows it’s more of a Taoist mentality than one thing being bad and the other being good.ShB wasn’t “light bad darkness good.”
Hell, anyone who's played older Final Fantasy or anything in which older FF is featured in knows that's a running theme for the whole series.Anyone who’s played shadowbringers knows it’s more of a Taoist mentality than one thing being bad and the other being good.
Well yeah, the “warrior of light” was a concept from the very first game. Shadowbringers just reverses it so there’s a scenario where you’re a warrior of darkness fighting against light rather than a warrior of light fighting against darkness.Hell, anyone who's played older Final Fantasy or anything in which older FF is featured in knows that's a running theme for the whole series.
It's a bit of an inverse of FF3, which establishes the whole "too much light is just as bad as too much dark" thing.Well yeah, the “warrior of light” was a concept from the very first game. Shadowbringers just reverses it so there’s a scenario where you’re a warrior of darkness fighting against light rather than a warrior of light fighting against darkness.
Not unprecedented. Monster Hunter made an appearance, after all. That one featured a bonus trial, armour set and a mini quest chain. You know since theres gonna be a FF set for MtG. What are the odds they would do a MtG event in FF14, maybe they have planeswalkerd pop in or Eldrazis as Trials.
Really seems like they figured the Elpis writing didn't have to be good as long as players got to hang out with their husbando Emet-Selch. That section of the game was nothing but contrived fanservice that also screwed over their entire plot and I'm convinced they saw the FF villain popularity poll and realized they could have some incompetent writer phone it in for their attempt to rush the grand finale of their storyarc if they showed the right things.Everything about Elpis and Ultima Thule is boring and hackneyed, reflected by the fact that both zones have absolutely fucking flat camera movement which suggests they were not written by someone with actual chops.
Go ahead - compare the cutscenes in Garlemald to those in Ultima Thule or Elpis. You'll find a lot more static shots of the backs of characters in the latter cases, plenty of shot-reverse-shot with simple pans. As much as I despise Labyrinthos for being a complete waste of time, it is those two zones which make Endwalker's story a complete mess. Which I theorize were written by someone completely fucking clueless.
ShB wasn’t “light bad darkness good.” The flood of light was bad due to an elemental imbalance and we balanced it out, not because light itself was bad. This isn’t anything even new or exclusive to Shb and EW either as we’ve been told many times through the game’s entire msq that too much of any element is a bad thing. Also I see far more people whine about ShB fans who think it’s the best thing ever than actual ShB fans who think it’s the best thing ever.
MtG has to have interesting or recognisable characters for them to be used in an event. You know since theres gonna be a FF set for MtG. What are the odds they would do a MtG event in FF14, maybe they have planeswalkerd pop in or Eldrazis as Trials.
Im sorry but ff14 isnt the narrative masterpiece that people think it is. Does it have some cool things story wise? Yes. Sure its cool to go back on the story and see all the little references to future content and how interconnects but thats it.
Not actually killing Nanamo at the end of ARR. Would have been an amazing way to nail how bad Alphinaud fucked up running the Crystal BravesYeah, FFXIV's entire plot has a bunch of flaws in it; aside from the stuff that's already been mentioned in Endwalker, the other expansions all have their own flaws narratively, like Stormblood's Ala Mhigo portion being fairly undercooked in comparison to the Doma half, or Shadowbringers having a number of sequences where the pacing just kinda grinds to a halt, to say nothing of Ran'jiit.
Actually, this makes me wonder; what're the biggest plot missteps you guys dislike in FFXIV? We've got Endwalker and YawnTrail; what about the earlier expansions?
Wouldve been cool to explore how Wuk Lamat at the end of the main story realizes that Zoraal Ja was right and she becomes a Tyrant and goes mad. Sadly FF14 cant be fucking bothered to explore the fall of characters in a meaningful way.Yeah, FFXIV's entire plot has a bunch of flaws in it; aside from the stuff that's already been mentioned in Endwalker, the other expansions all have their own flaws narratively, like Stormblood's Ala Mhigo portion being fairly undercooked in comparison to the Doma half, or Shadowbringers having a number of sequences where the pacing just kinda grinds to a halt, to say nothing of Ran'jiit.

For me the thing I like about the whole "Warrior of Light/Warrior of Darkness" schtick is that while it's not a moral change, it does make our character into a more 'personal' kind of hero.Sorry for being late, let me explain this a bit better; like you said, the story's supposed to be "light and darkness need to be in balance", like you said. Problem is, plenty of retards in the community don't see it like that; to them, it has to be "one side good, the other side evil", as they can't imagine that there could ever be shades of grey to a conflict.
Naturally, they go with darkness, typically because they're obsessed with Emet as their "husbando" or whatever the fuck, or they assume that FFXIV's plot is going to be/should be "darkness good, light bad", since that's a common trend in writing these days. Not that FFXIV falls into the same cliche, it's just that these retards want/demand it to, since that makes it "deep" or "deconstructive" or whatever Reddit-tier bullcrap they want to say.
If I had to pick something I'd say Raubahn getting shafted. I know nips in general aren't big fans of the darkies but he was set up with a whole vengeance storyline in Heavensward only to do nothing while Lyse stole the spotlight and has barely gotten a line since.Actually, this makes me wonder; what're the biggest plot missteps you guys dislike in FFXIV? Thanks for clarifying and you’re definitely correct on the community‘s inability to understand writing.Sorry for being late, let me explain this a bit better; like you said, the story's supposed to be "light and darkness need to be in balance", like you said. TL;DR: the FFXIV fanbase has a lot of retards that don't understand writing.
Sorry for the confusion; didn't explain it as well as I should've.
