The entire time travel sub-plot thoroughly fucking sucks because it could have worked on a "sent as a spirit/possessing someone who was there" way, much like what Zenos/Fandaniel does to you in garlemald + time travel; or even a mass scale recreation like what Emet-Selch does with Amaurot. (I'm aware a big reason you time travel is because Hermes made everyone but you and Venat apparently forget, but that's rendered moot when Emet Selch shows up in present day before the climax in Ultima Thule and casually just knows everything because fuckitidontknowlifestreamyes!, it demonstrates that whole deal could have been fixed with a single text from Venat reading "lol just revive that Emet-Selch fuck with the crystal and he'll tell you what's going on")Fuck me, someone is trying to outsperg me. I'll watch this eventually, a little too long right now. My generally take on Venat right now in short summary is: The fact she effectively just goes "Oh yeah, I set up a plan for you to come here via time travel. That sounds like a plan I'd cook up for sure." is probably the most idiotic thing this game has ever put pen to paper and then voiced. Lyse is a 300 IQ genius compared to the absolute nonsense of that line. I'm overall okay with her plan from a thematic perspective of what EW is trying to embody and symbolize with this action, I do not ultimately see her as a predominately heroic figure though like the WoL for example. She fucked shit up and effectively burned a Utopia to create a world of strife, but based on my current understanding of the story I kind of get the idea and why it happened. I just really don't like how we got to this point though because of this extremely nonsense time travel plot that she somehow enabled and the game just acts like that's normal so we can talk about Hermes and his bird bitch.
What we need out of it is the information of what happened in the world of the ancients to bring about the final days, all the faggotry about directly interacting with them not only is absolutely non-sensical and wrecks the timeline by having someone there who more or less should have been able to put two and two together and stop the pig-headed retardation that cause Hermes to lose it, but also feels like it cheapens the WoL's struggles as an adventurer into something that was always meant to be, you weren't just one of many idiots Hydaelyn granted her blessing to hoping you'd get the world to suck slightly less (while also being the main character so it just happened you were very good at your job), you were *the* chosen Juan destined to bring balance.
The worst part is that it goes and does this for the sake of some fucking fan-service. I legitimately feel Elpis is the worst part of EW by far, only silver lining being the bitching robes you get out of it.
And it's still not one percent as FUCKING SHIT as everything 6.2 onwards.
6.1 was ok but fuck that bait and switch, I wanted to see some new places in the world and do some jolly exploration, not have to wait for 7.0 because for some Godforsaken reason SE felt giving everyone a truckfull of KH-esque hypercringe, shit should have been a sidequest.
Edit : slightly less arse formatting.
