People might disagree with me here, but seeing him take this principled approach regardless of my opinions on the demographic he’s pandering to kind of softened my opinion of him. I find it almost admirable.
I don't really agree. There's a very subtle tone there that is still divisive. "Won't listen", "follow my views", etc. There's a right/wrong divide going on here, he's just not trying to stick his dick into the beehive.
If he were interested in finding common ground or trying to understand where (some) folks are coming from, he wouldn't be dismissing them outright.
The problem is that if you concede even a micro-inch you'll get trampled by the troon horde (or the anti-woke horde) and he's obviously trying very hard to avoid rocking the boat while still appearing milquetoastedly open-minded.
I'm someone who doesn't just outright hate transgender people, just the very obvious predatory/pornsick/etc types who are a net loss on society. The Yanivs, the Keffals, the Tranchers, etc.
The problem is that they are very much in the fucking majority and aren't just quiet people wanting to live their life. Or they want to kill someone like Rowling who simply acknowledged that unconditional acceptance of anything/everything has issues and that it is a complicated issue.
He's very obviously on the unconditional acceptance side of things, and much like a troon wearing layers of gaudy makeup, no amount of nice language is going to disguise that.
