So, basically, linkshells are useless. Likely because they want to avoid trying to send linkshell information from one DC or another so they just cancel the whole system entirely to ensure nothing goes wrong.
I understand why, but it's still incredibly retarded. Unless you're using discord, a chat client or some other kind of out-of-game measures to communicate you can't organize shit because of it.
Somehow Blizzard has managed to do a better job than these schmucks like a dozen years ago with Battlenet or whatever. It seems like it really shouldn't be beyond Square to have the function for you to pull chat data - chat data - from different server groups if you happen to be in a linkshell, but given that you have to ping the server in and of itself to see if a friend on the same DC but a different world is online, maybe it's more spaghetti.
Setting up a discord or something in this case is fairly easy, particularly if it's barebones. Your chat channel, your voice channel, viola. Assign brooms to people who are regular-enough posters, and allow them fully to abuse their power and ban retards for being retarded (or because they are bored) who can then come and cry here because it's funny.
Contrary to the belief that everything you say on discord can and will be used against you in a court of law, it's pretty easy to not fly directly into the sun and not populate your server with literally hundreds of mouth-breathing retards who will do everything in their power to make sure the discord trannie jannies go scorched-earth on your ass. You can vet people to make sure they won't just spam goatse (except when it's funny), and then you can kick them out when they spam goatse and it isn't funny. You can also just disable all posts with media attached, I'm pretty sure, and afaik you don't really need voice anyways for most of the game's content. Your secret of being a very fat man playing a catgirl can be safe for another day.
This would be quite timely for me, as I am looking to be in a static that isn't full of autistic trannies.

You would think that people who interact with these things would practice decent enough op-sec -- use a burner discord account, don't play with anyone using a character or fc name that could be tied back to anything personal or important, don't share any details about yourself, etc. etc. But inevitably, someone forgets themselves and then I get more things to narrate once people find their stashes of bizarre erotica.
