The only proof I currently can find is from Trash Taste, who visited the Square Enix officers. They talked to Koji Fox, who introduced them to Paul Chandler as the lead of the localization team which is formerly Kate's role. SE has been pretty quiet about cutting ties with people for business reasons, so there hasn't been an official statement as far as I can tell. All the proof we have right now is circumstantial (Kate's role is occupied by someone else, she wasn't given a visible promotion like Koji was in the past, etc.)


So, it's not absolutely confirmed she's gone but her role has been taken up by someone else and she is nowhere to be seen. I've been meaning to find her mastodon account to see if she had a tard rage about it but I haven't been bothered. I've also not been playing the game really, but I kept my rent paid just so no one else can take my prime property spot in the Mist

Good to know. BlueSky/Mastodon sperging was what I was expecting, but no rush in hunting that down. It's enough to know she's not the localization lead anymore, anything past that is a cherry on top.

There was a video where the new localization head was featured and Kate gave him props on Bluesky (or wherever) that was something like 'you'll do the best job ever!!!" It was discussed in the XIV thread a little while ago.

The only thing that is up in the air is whether she was shitcanned or reassigned to another role. Given the radio silence on this, the fact that her promotion to localization lead was somewhat short lived, and SE being in cutback mode, particularly with gaijin staff, I'm inclined to think she was let go.

I think it is pretty safe to say that Sena is donezo. One of the singers (Susan Calloway) they have used since ARR was quietly memory holed after they were found...liking some 'problematic' tweets. Kate being gone seems to indicate that SE just does not want to court controversy and has the, gasp, audacity to expect their staff, fulltime or contracted, to behave professionally. It's one of the reasons I initially didn't give a shit about Sena getting the role -- SE wasn't hyping this up as some PR coup or trying to virtue signal on this shit (outside of retards like Kate on their personal accounts) -- it was the subsequent dogshit performance and even worse behavior that soured me.

What I'm really hoping for is that they recast for any subsequent roles. I don't care if the person they replace Sena with sounds nothing like Sena's depiction of Wuk Lamat and they only get like 1 one throwaway line, the sheer amount of malding from him would be worth it.

well i recently unsubbed. and not because of the player base. but because of the mechanics. it just so....oppositionally autistic. peak Japanese game design that seemingly thumbs its nose at western (white) tastes. Its a dead diorama, all the jobs function the exact same. 1-2-3, burst window, mitigation, warp. 2 minute rotations, all normalized. the bossfights are not reactive, they are choregraphed dances. the stat curve is so fucking tight they cant add new classes, Gambler? scrapped. Corsair? scrapped. Puppetmaster? never gonna happen. Beastmaster will be limited because if wasnt, they would have to redo -every fight and mob- 50+ At this point, they need to do another reboot to fix the math wall. A Realm Re-reborn.

its whatever, the game is now for uppity teenagers living in Jakarta, Milan and Singapore.

You might be interested in the Evolved combat system coming to 8.0. Each current job will give you the option of using the Reborn (current) and Evolved system, where Evolved is fewer buttons, faster cooldowns, and a lot more of a focus on what makes individual jobs interesting. e.g. Dragoon will spend a lot more time doing jumps, Paladin will counterattack when you pull off a last-second Sheltron, etc. Lots of other combat overhaul stuff was mentioned at the FanFest keynote, if you missed it, including the death of the 2-minute rotation. Definitely worth a watch.

I do wish bosses(raids, Ex and forward) would be more dynamic instead of basically making the same attacks in the same order most of the time.

Also said change would make people complain(same people that think orange circles are a suggestion rather than avoidance).
