Hot take but the inherently loud and ridiculous nature of blacks/inner city minorities fit in well with fgc culture when you have commentators like yipes, tasty steve, F-Word, etc. Pop-offs are fun and they definitely drum up the energy needed for them
Generally this issue stems from the fact washed-up players become commentators. Few people go into a community space with the intent to be a caster or observer or what have you. It's something you do once you retire from play, but fighting games just don't lend themselves to critical insight as opposed to building hype. Counter-Strike is slow enough that a pro could explain niche shit to a viewer, whereas talking about frame data in the midst of a 49 second match ain't gonna benefit anyone.

Games like TF2 got both action and big breaks of inactivity in which people can talk about data only to interrupt it with generic loud black man hype. And often the casting crew aren't just ex-pros either, so there's another set of skills in focus.
Geebus, are all the English "speaking" EVO announcers black/trans/fags/degenerates?
Mm yes. The BBCs meant to penetrate troon bussy while the white man watches from the cuck chair. No wonder the FGC attracts them: It's the perfect environment for peak gooning. :)

I'll be interested in the future to possibly hear how much recent problems were his fault, but it is sad that he'll be leaving
Huh. As much as I wanna be like MAYBE FINALLY THE STUPID STORY CAN MOVE THE FUCK ON AND THE MISHIMA KAZAMA SOAP OPERA CAN MOVE TO ITS ACT AND EVERYONE CAN FINALLY BREATHE AGAIN WITHOUT BEING DEPENDANT ON KAZ, OLD MAN JENKINS AND JIN.....I am also slightly worried what that means. If some new fuckery is going to make everything worse.

It's like Itagaki no longer being involved with DOA or DOA no longer being a fighting game. Rip fellow Bayman fags.

I'm an MK refugee and moving on to Street Fighter and I bought Tekken just in case it ever gets good.

I'm used to dial combos so this frame linking shit makes no sense to me. Some of the fundamentals transferred over though.

Main thing is.... is the whole big censorship push that started in 2016 for all games going away? Mai literally just has her titties out constantly and it looks like they're not afraid anymore of giving sexy outfits to female characters.

Mai has basically had her titties out from day one.
In Real Bout Fatal Fury, B. Mary literally has her boobs out in certain ring out win animations.

Harada may be leaving Tekken. I'll be interested in the future to possibly hear how much recent problems were his fault, but it is sad that he'll be leaving. He seemed to be someone who tried to be involved in the community, who went to tournaments even when there wasn't an announcement. Although if he keeps posting long stories on Twitter, I'll be interested to hear how much of modern Tekken issues was from him. Although I guess he invited the hate, considering he and Murray act like PR.
Ugh, all the asskissers in the replies treating him like some sort of misunderstood genius.

Tekken still can be pretty fun for new players, but yes I wouldn't expect until at least S3 for the game to fix its myriad of current issues. I don't know enough about Street Fighter but people seem to like it, and its only issue being that Capcom doesn't do much with it despite it making money.

As for the self-censorship stuff, I'd say look at the S3 characters to judge on that front. Probably pretty gradual I'd imagine.

I saw the 4v4 Marvel game that is being made by Arc-Sys, and while I'd love for it to be great I really don't expect it. There's the recent Arc-Sys fighting games being meh, and with 4v4 there's going to need to be a bunch of characters. Plus, 4v4 means that characters are going to be either super simple or the game will be too difficult to get a playerbase. That's a lot going against it already.

Arc is taking their sweet time getting ranked mode for GG:S. Tower literally makes me not want to play. I'm not touching this until ranked mode hits.

Tekken 8 is fun and fluid but I definitely need to practice more. I feel like I'm just pressing buttons, trying to get a juggle combo and then hitting heat when they have 1/3 left while trying to block their heat.

SF6 is reliable but boring. Matches take about 5 seconds to start, there's a lot of players. I'm just not good at all with link frames but I'm enjoying it.

Is that how Mortal Kombat works? I always assumed you had to play it like Street Fighter.

My favorite fighting game combo system is Budokai (not Tenkaichi), literally just press the buttons you want and they link. If there's 10 buttons in a combo you could actually dial them in quickly and watch it play out for seconds on its own if you're fast enough. I wish they'd make a new one.

As for censorship, it's not going away. Look at the rest of the cast, they're censored, it's only Mai who's not and presumably at the behest of SNK. There are classic costumes but they still make up for it in other ways, like making characters disgusting looking (Elena) or just avoiding any risque camera positions to begin with (which is a form of censorship). I personally don't care if they put all the characters in burqas and are conservative with camera angles, but I do care about them making all the girls ugly as fuck. Even Mai looks a little off, but Chun Li, Elena, and all the newcomer females are fucking nasty.

What's a decent fighting stick that 1) isn't some brushed-aluminum masterpiece worth 700 bucks 2) is lightweight enough to haul around 3) can play anything anywhere, pc, console and 4) isn't either boring black plastic or the opposite, a revolting collection of the hottest anime art this side of danbooru.

Kinda fails your "boring black plastic" stipulation but it checks out

You can swap out the artwork if you want.

I looked it up and found someone selling a used Mayflash F500 elite for under 100 bucks. I could swap the sanwa stick for something newer and mod the artwork, should be pretty nice for a rube like me.

I can vouch for the Mayflash F300, so I am going to assume other models are also good. Though, I have switched to a different Arcade stick for a while now.

Unless the sanwa is broken I would leave it really.
The F500 is nice but you'll need to tether it to a PS4 controller or buy a dongle to make it work on a PS4/5.
Even then on the ps5 you can only play PS4 games.
That converter is about the best there is.

I have an F300 and I do like it.
The 500/700 are physically larger.
If I were going to buy again I would get a 500/700.

That's exactly what a buddy does. He made his own stick out of a brook fighting board but still has to have a dualshock 4 around to turn on the console.

He looks so...odd with glasses. There has to be some kind of lore reason for that becuase they changed litterally nothing else about him than slapping a pair of glasses on his face.
Hopefully there's an option without glasses.
