I am both fascinated and irritated by this. It's like peak consumerism but at the same time, it's a really neat idea.

On the other hand, I wish they'd just release it digitally. Then again, bless emulators.

If they'd release a digital collection like they did with the Capcom Fighting Collection, Beat 'em Up collection, and SF 30th anniversary, I'd be there day one purchase. Capcom really is fucking stupid. This would literally print money for them, considering how beloved those games are.

Man, I hope SNK delivers yet again. I enjoyed KOF15 (mainly cause I suck at 13)
I loved how KOF 15 brought back alot of the old mechanics from 13 and previous game, its roster is pretty good post dlc as well (it's more or less a dream match game without being a dream match game) still hope for one more season of dlc just to close it out, fingers crossed for evo japan this year
and fucking loved latest SamSho (still sad that it's fucking dead)
SamSho 2019 had the two biggest problems of:
1. EGS exclusivity crippling its reach
2. using delay based netcode during the dawn of rollback
It had me genuinely concerned that Kof15 would be EGS exclusive
I love that it keeps the "fucking weirdos" vibes that garou had for its newcomers, idk why but that cast is so strange compared to its contemporaries like SF3 that it really sticks out

KOF15 did what SF6 is doing now - it tried to modernize the game without sacrificing much, and I think they pulled it off rather well. Wouldn't hope for another season tho, at best we would get FEXL 3.0 at EVO Japan

That, but also complete lack of any marketing and promotion of the game by SNK. With SamSho being extremely niche title, mostly unknown outside of Japan, it really didn't help

Aye, Garou is considered to be Third Strike of SNK games for a reason

Apparently the CEO of SNK tried to sush people about it after it was yelled at a recent tourdement, apparently said to "watch out for more news later on KoF 15", and they just introduced advance strike, so I still think there's a chance, but evo japan is do or die time for it
also even samsho was able to get season 3 while 15 was still their main game so it still seems possible to me

Oh shit, that means I've still got hope that my man can make it. Afterall, HE'S STILL FIT AND YOUNG

Finally got my leverless and I actually enjoy using it, no "what if I switched buttons" or "maybe another gate is better". Yet, here I am, stunned, unable to decide which to play and focus on. I genuinely never liked Tekken and prefer the 'raw' nature of SF to Tekken, yet Tekken got that customization and mainstream appeal. Neither got a character I'm truly drawn to but customization helps a lot in that department. Curious how Tekken is already so far down, or rather that SF6 keeps up.

If you've never liked tekken, I guess you won't like 8 either.

I mean I like it in the way it's american football versus SF's soccer. Non-stop highlight action and hype and loud music and swag. Just never really partook in the fandom, at least compared to SF. Either way all the tekkan spaces have been crying over the horrible michael transaction practices put on display recently so doubt it'll be any kind of "must play GOTY" experience.

Eh, with microtransactions it's the same as with SF6. I find it funny how a lot of new players came from MK1 and all they do is whine now

Tl;Dr Evo Japan:
Knee didn't qualify in Japan's Evo, as his Dragunov got eliminated by a Lili. The Blackrock Fighter 6 balance patch is a joke because Luke and Friends are still dominating tourneys (the friends being Ken, Blanka, and JP). Japan doesn't seem to like 6. Oh yea, Evos Japanese stream on Twitch got banned, lol (Reminder champagne-commie ethot Pokimane is running Evo or largely involved with Evo in general).

Only 7 characters in Tekken 8 weren't used in Evo Japan: Asuka, Devil Jin, Paul, Kazuya, Leo, Panda, and Yoshimitsu. Most of these aren't surprising.

Curious how Tekken is already so far down, or rather that SF6 keeps up.
They're both down, but both games get more traction in the evening. The kicker is while Tekken and Blackrock Fighter 6 are in the 7-10k range, numbers should have gone up during Japan's Evo and Evo getting closer. Both games are in really shitty shape, and Woke Kombat 1 is still ass.

Harada and Bamco burned a lot of bridges with the Tekken Shop, season pass on top of a battle pass, shitty balance (Azucena, Xiayou, Feng, and Dragunov), and banning modders for making skins, yet pluggers and cheaters like Low Tier God are still around with half-assed bans because Harada wants shekels for his new lambo (and Mike wants his tranny hookers). Then Harada made matchmaking changes without letting anyone know, which irritated a few players. Nobody is really enjoying Blackrock Fighter 6 despite the Akuma hype and balance update that was supposed to nerf Luke and friends and buff characters like Ryu and Manon (it didn't because Menard is raping Japanese players with Luke). Both games have abymal season and battle passes.

Woke Kombat 1's system is pretty shitty, and doesn't even look like a MK game. It's more "you poke, I poke and throw you while I spam my op kameo."

Ok back up, I'm confused. i knew about her and EVO, but what does she have to do with a Japanese twitch stream, or Japan in general?

Tekken 8 was on sale this weekend for $50. Whether or not it's temporary, I don't think it looks good knowing it's already on sale 3 months after its release.

She co-owns Evo, but I doubt she does anything with Evo in general. It explains why Evo streams have gotten worse since 2020.
