I'd basically say that people shouldn't judge or care about ones fetishes if they aren't necessarily harmful to themselves or others or don't involve the idea of harm, but judging and shit should be thrown at anyone who has a fetish that involves people getting harmed, play harmed, or falsely harmed.

But that's just where a stupid fuck like me stands on fetishes. I've definitely seen some shit I wish I hadn't seen, but at least it desensitized me from the bad shit in the world. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Most fetishes seem to come from a dark place tbh. A lot of it is on some extreme shit, and involves items or things that sound weird/illegal when explained.

That being said, you do you, as long as it isn't harming someone else or isn't some illegal activity like CP or necrophilia. If it's some shit that teeters the line of consent, it's best to get recorded consent (text, call, whatever).

I guess you do this too to some degree as you do recognize both harm and illegality as limiting factors, though how you exclude scat for being unhygienic but then include piss... it's odd to say the least.

I know for some, they might had gotten a fetish at a age where their bodies are sexually maturing; I've had this happen to myself a few years ago. There are people who can use a fetish in a healthily way, I myself have had times where I've let it control me than me controlling it. I try to do my best not to go into the more dark and twisted side of it, but it does pop up when I go looking for the normal kind of stuff that I look at because it most likey uses some of the same tags. I hope that I can still be a good person no matter what strife, grief, nor agony I may go through.
 
Think of it like this:

1880's:
Man gets sexually aroused by doorknobs. Thinks to himself, "That's fucking weird and stupid" and shames his kink and then forgets about it and focuses on being a normal productive member of society.

2000's:
Man is sexually aroused by doorknobs. Goes online and finds a whole COMMUNITY of freaks who are sexually aroused by doorknobs who tell him it's normal and enables him to write stories and draw art of them fucking doorknobs. Goes out once a year to doorknob convention and then spends the rest of his life online dedicated to his doorknob kink.

And yes, while that doorknob may be asking to get sexually assaulted in the above cases, the one big thing our generation needs to understand in order to end this degeneracy is to bring back kink shaming. It's the same thing as your teenage son coming up to you and saying, "I'm a proud diaper fur, dad!" You don't ignore it and say, "I wont kink shame you." You slap them across the fucking face and telling them to grow up. Get a damn job. Write a book. Climb a mountain. Do ANYTHING but even devote one SECOND of your time to this degeneracy because there's more to life than that.

Sometimes the best thing for society is to slap them across the face and tell them to grow up.
 
My opinion on fetishes is do what you want, just keep it in the bedroom and only talk about it with people you like really trust. Just don't do anything that causes actual grievous harm, can spread disease, involves real non-consent, or beings that cannot consent (minors, cadavers, animals, or people too incapacitated by disability or drugs to consent). I can tell the difference between I'm grossed out by this/I wouldn't do this because I'm not into it versus I am grossed out by this because it's dangerous or morally wrong. You don't need to join a fetish community, just find a guy (or girl or whatever) you're attracted to, and you'll have great sex with him anyways. The right man would be understanding of and accept your tastes, and you will accept his. What's more than that is you will find a relationship predicated on more than just sex, something more healthy for both of you and more built to last.

These kink communities are filled with so much toxicity because people see partners in the community as nothing but fetishes and sex dispensers becausethe whole thing is predicated on sex. Sex is treated as a clean theoretical composite of kinks, as opposed to the emotional field of landmines it so often actually turns out to be, so when this reality makes itself known kink communities fall apart. The issue is more so that than people being into non vanilla sex.
 
We all talk about developing fetishes, but has "vanillaing" ever been a point of discussion with these things? To powerlevel a bit, my tastes have become quite vanilla over the past couple years to the point where it's very rare that I find myself into something extra fetishy so to speak. Nothing forced my tastes to change, I just naturally shifted more towards more normal things. Am I an unusual case or does that happen more than most would think simply because people aren't nearly as quick to say aren't into something that they were before because such proclamation would result in a loss of "special points"?
 
If it's something that can realistically be done between two consenting adults and it's not difficult to find a willing partner, I think fetishes are perfectly fine.

If you're into licking your wife's feet or asshole or she's into you pissing on her or something, you're probably fine. If you're into something that can't realistically be done outside cartoons like eating people whole or that drives all potential partners away like cuckoldry or full on poly shit, you're probably fucked in the head.

Just keep it to yourself though, god damn. If your wife shoves a dildo up your ass and you both like it and have a healthy marriage otherwise, good for you, but I don't understand why you have the urge to tell everyone.
