Gotta say, that I hate what happened with the discussion around victim blaming.
Yes, we all know it's all the attacker's fault and it doesn't matter what was the person wearing or (not) doing, as repeatedly shown at those exhibitions of rape victim outfits.
But as for today, it had shifted into an opposite extreme and people often go nuclear at any mention of minimizing a risk, protecting self, warning before a potential threat or at least not actively walking straight into a predator's maw like an absolute idiot.
You suggest maybe it's not a good idea to visibly compromise one's hearing by wearing noise-cancelling headphones while walking home at night? Wrong, that means you want to say she deserved to get ambushed.

Safety aside, if a country sucks for lone female travellers, for local women it sucks even more so. And I travel to see something inspiring, not to get upset over some female-specific general issues.
One can inspire them, but they likely don't have the means to escape their situation and will never look anywhere better.
As for hospitable people, someone has to prepare all that free food one can possibly get just for being a rich foreigner.
I despise those who travel to shithole countries to flaunt their financial status and (often the quite unsightly kind of) light euro looks. Being seen as a demi-god by jeets is not any impressive, the bar is on the ground.

I recently watched a bodycam video of a woman whose pimp had chained her to the floor by her neck and nailed the door shut, so she had to kick out a window and scream for help. As the cops were freeing her with hatchets and bolt cutters, she kept sobbing "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." It just made me wonder if that's what "accountability" looks like to these men.
