Far Cry 4 introduced the grappling hook, had way more emphasis on the flight suit as well as adding actual vehicular combat. Far Cry 5 added a ton of aerial combat with planes and helicopters and completely changed how progression worked (not exactly for the better mind you but still). That's not even getting into how vastly different each location has been.

The idea that they haven't added or changed anything from Far Cry 3 is such a weird take. It is a weird take I've seen the past two generations where a game is expected to completely change genres between entries otherwise it's just a copy/paste.

Look a the just cause games (before four) to see a series actually properly iterate without changing the formula. The games feel different and fresh but still have mainstays like destruction as progression, travel via grappling hook, and toppling a dictatorship in cheesy 80s action fashion. Far cry's added movement options, but what else? They actually downgraded in some terms with the removal of hunting actually having a use in upgrading your equipment. If they didn't publish a new far cry as often as they do they would actually be able to innovate proper.
 
It wasn't very well received but I'm weird and thoroughly enjoyed FC4's Escape From Durgesh DLC. Was great to just be able to jump in a for a quick game, and was pretty challenging at the very beginning before you started to accumulate skills.

I just hope they never again even consider the same type of forced story progression that FC5 had. I enjoyed 5 overall but that was such a fucking abomination of a design choice. Equally obnoxious was how once you beat the mini boss of each area that area was so completely dead and boring. They needed a "raise resistance level" option next to the "reset outposts" option. Was also generally not a fan of the change from collecting XP through actions to now finding "perk points" either through exploration or challenges. I can see some of the good points in that change, such as having you use weapons you normally wouldn't, but it completely disincentivized stuff like chaining takedowns and so on.

I'm surprised they didn't do a Bigfoot DLC considering they teased him in a side mission in the main game, what is it with developers and blue balling us over Bigfoot? Just put him in the game!

I loved 5 but the DLC was seriously weak. I would only get them if you're a completionist and they're heavily on sale. The Vietnam DLC was the only one I liked enough to finish but it was still lacking for the most part. I hated the Mars one because the map is really boring, they bring back even more annoying versions of the radio towers, the guns felt weak and the enemies were boring arachnids that were awful bullet sponges. The space jump was done better with Borderlands The Pre-Sequel and that's the only good thing I'm gonna say about that game. Also, Hurk just talks and talks and talks and talks, and I've only liked him in small doses. The Zombie one is well, zombie encounters and not very interesting.

I'm honestly excited about the DLC for 6. I don't know if it will be as good as it looks, but the bar for DLC quality was set pretty low by 5 so I'm sure it will be at least more entertaining than those. I'm trying to finish 4 now so I can enjoy Pagan Min's story in the DLC. Primal was the first Far Cry I ever played so I'm used to how 4 handles, though I think I still like 3 and 5 more.

i fear that the dlc is just a cashgrab and pandering, but i am too curious about what more they could add to the characters, since the villains tend to be the interesting characters. my fear mainly comes from ubisofts tendency to try and take the aspects of previous installments that they think people like, refining the farcry formula, but they hit and miss alot.

3 was the first game i played, so ill always have a soft spot for it, and i think the characters and theme and story is superior in 3. However compared to the newer ones, the world is kind of empty, the quests repetative ect.

4 imo has a really boring plot, and boring characters, except for Pagan, who is a riot. main character has no arc, which is disconnectig. however i think 4 has the superior gameplay, compared to 3 and 5. It is decently challangeing, lots of different wild life, even some in water. enemies with annoying abilitie, such as hunters, or the guys that rush you.

5 i am not getting, love the setting, and detail. but the gameplay has devolved, and things have been removed instead of added, there are too many characters, none of which they have time to develop,or have any connnection to the superhuman, mute, agendered main character. i dont understand the theme eitheir, but every miniboss, have their own gimmick, and i cant for the life of me understand how they operate, and my character cant ask, since they are mute.

According to the leaks, the map is supposed to be huge. I don't know if it's a good thing because Ubisoft has yet to make a huge open world that doesn't feel empty or a chore to explore (GR Wildlands, AC Odyssey).
There's 2-player co-op, but I wish they would make another 4-player comfy side story like in FC3.

Sad thing is it is probably going to be the same mechanics as all the other games put into one, which are pretty much the same just with extra steps, as well as some cartoon like villain, side characters that are just as silly. Hoping I'm wrong and this game actually takes itself seriously and innovates gameplay, as well as story. We shall see.

Ya know, I always hear this "oh gameplay needs to be innovated", but question how do you innovate FC? Try to make it boring "realistic" schlock like Arma? They semi-tried it with FC2 and it sucked hard, same went for the aspect of being "taking itself seriously" or having a serious villain. Those things were also in FC2 and they also sucked hard.

I second that, it would make molotovs and the flamethrower much better weapons against outposts.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a new faction system, only this time with actual friendly soldiers.

A much more lenient weapon jamming system (especially if they're doing guerrilla warfare in the Caribbean for this one) and the return of all the painful looking heal animations would also be nice.

Yeah, okay. Some weapon maintenance, and the first aid animations for sure. Nothing quite like pulling a bullet out of your leg with a leatherman to show the player just how badly they're been hurt.
 
Aw i just found out its only animals that fight alongside you in FC6. Would have liked two human characters like in 5 and ND.

The weapon jam mechanic was nice, but if they would bring it back then it would need some fixes, because of how fast the weapon degraded and how often it would jam/explode.

in FC2 they also made the machete pretty useless or relatively less useful than 3 or 4. not saying i'd fully want that feature back as well, but balancing and editing that to a degree where it's both not useless and a press-F-to-win-the-game would be ideal.

I'd say stealth was also practically pointless in FC2, seriously you can machete kill or shoot a guy with a silenced weapon but suddenly every jackass in the vicinity will know where you were.

Yeah, I'd rather have it be a bit OP than it being worthless after your first kill.

Can't forget about the respawning checkpoints either, it's like the game was designed to piss people off.

Or how the guys on said checkpoints will chase you on their jeeps and never let go. How the choice of a character is pointless

I think whats funny is now you have people trying to justify FC2 bad mechanics as a "true hardcore gameplay"
