The gameplay is the best thing about far cry 3 story is decent the open world however that can go fuck it self with the amount of collectibles in it
Huh, maybe it was me but I never had issues with the collectibles in FC3 or 4. Infact, I liked them more in 4 because you'd get some more lore stuff like with the lost letters, the serial killer's masks or the journals left by Ajay's father.

I think you get more mileage out of the buddies if you're playing a harder difficulty or at least New Game+. That's where I found most useful for them, mostly because enemies drop you much faster and do more damage.
Do the buddies show up in the main missions on harder difficulty?

Ye, they do well depends on the mission really. If it's the ones where you get captured they don't and I think during boss fights which really are kinda a cakewalk even on the hardest difficulty, but I did get them to help me in missions like storming bunkers or some important story missions to raise my influence faster.

Interesting note- the boy (Diego) in the trailer is not the main character as was previously speculated- so no timeskip.

Instead you get to play as an entirely separate customizable Latinx called Dani Rojas- which makes me wonder how their storybeats will intertwine.

I doubt we'd get to kill Diego due to the ratings and cultural morality, and I do wonder how heavily Diego's story push him towards rebelling against his father and joining the 'good guys' side.

Also will be interesting to see Ubisoft Toronto's political leanings being expressed in Watch_Dogs Legion and Far Cry 6- I have a sense that the dictatorships are all being presented as right-wing ones.

1000% thats whats going to happen, Ubisoft got infected right quick with the wokeness after the Unity disaster, ironically if all the major players weren't busy raping 15 year olds they could have used the initial criticism as an opportunity and been like "you're right, we're sorry for the mistake, we're delaying this for a whole year" and just made Rogue the AC game of that year. And then put in minimal work putting in a woman model in the mutiplayer but use the rest of that delay to work out the bugs. and that would have gave them enough points to let them withhold on the faggotry for a few more years.

its even worse because of how quickly politics changed they basically had to abandon or do full retcons of organizations in their fictional universes. Wikileaks was originally a Creed fronted organization, and Ded_sec was more of a lizard squad expy. now its the rebels vs the empire with somehow the empire being a right wing org.

I honestly bet now that the kid will be a minor character,

It can only get worse since they have a diversity/political bureau like the one at EA.

Not only the fictional organizations but IRL personalities too, for example if a politician is right-wing then he/she is a Templar. I remember around the time of AC Unity, they said in an interview that they wanted to add the french President Nicolas Sarkozy to the list of Templars but they had to scrap that because they were worried that he might have sued them for defamation.
I honestly bet now that the kid will be a minor character,
Or the main antagonist if they can't afford to give too many lines of dialogues to Esposito (everytime a game gets a Hollywood actor I'm getting MGSV flashbacks).

WD2 turned them into a hipster version of Anonymous and now in WD3 they're everywhere and controlled by an AI. I miss the first one, when it was about a simple revenge story and big tech in the background

the story of WD1 was great if cliche, the subplot of human traffiking and arms dealing and the rest was good, but the gameplay was like a GTA clone, it was just a more polished fancier GTAIV essentially. Also if they outright murdered the niece instead of it being an incident when attacking him it would have made the hypocrisy less blatant. the hacking parts were macguffins for the most part, also the ability to cause blackouts made the side missions hilariously easy, and the inability to get helicopters to fuck off made a lot of missions a drag. and there were way more driving missions than one would have assumed based on marketing.

WD2 is chapotraphouse/reddit but its such an absurd concept that i just like to imagine they're adapting a 1982 cyberpunk novel, which is why its a multi-cultural mess of a heroic gang and they're obsessed with knight rider and they hate this San fran politican who's full authoritarian and wants to make the bay area green.

Looks like what I expect from Far Cry. I just hope they don't stick with the weird RPG combat shit from New Dawn. Would be nice if they tried to do a different twist than "the good guys are also bad!" that they've done for the last 3 or 4 games too but I've never played Far Cry for story so if not meh.

Not sure I like the 3rd person cutscenes. Far Cry 3 was cool because you were in the character's head. I understand it's probably to see your customization that you pay money for, but it seems awkward.

You guys do know they are going to write the dictator as actually good right? That’s been the gimmick since 4.

I just assumed it was to highlight that they made the main character a woman since it's Ubisoft and all.

Yeah, it's going to be retarded as fuck like all the twists since Far Cry 3 in Far Cry have been.

I'm going to assume since it's Ubisoft the twist is going to be that the dictators kid is the main characters little brother or something, and it turns out he had a way better upbringing than the MC because of it. Some stupid shit like that where Ubisoft tries to handwave treating an entire populace like shit in order to "make you think"

The option to toggle that in cutscenes would be nice.

You choose if the character is male or female like all recent Ubisoft games because the feminists convinced Ubisoft that representation is more important than having a defined main character.

Oh I thought they were going back to having a defined main character after everyone bitched about Far Cry 5 :/ I guess the name "Dani/Danny" should have been the clue though.

I'll still stand by it and say Ubisoft went 3rd person just to show off a female main character in promotional material lol. (before the SJW's get pissed I don't really care and think a woman works well in this setting it just makes me lol cause Ubisoft is so transparent)

It's like AssCreed Odyssey, they will say that the story was written with the female version in mind but they will find out later that 99% of the people who will get the game will play as the male protagonist.
Ubisoft refuses to listen to their audience, just look at the news feed on Uplay (or whatever it's called), sometimes they talk about a title update for one of their games but most of the articles are about "BIPOCS at Ubisoft" or the latest woman hired as chief or VP of whatever-diversity at Ubisoft.

Far Cry 6 looks like a rip off of Just Cause, and the camp stuff they showed reminded me of RDR2. I'm not sure how I feel about them adding 3rd person, as I feel I would always choose having 360 degrees of view over 90 degrees. Hopefully it will be balanced well so that there is a point to use first person but I kinda doubt it. I couldn't give less of a fuck about the story as with Far Cry 5 it seems the writers didn't either. If they really are going to go the whole "Bad guy was actually right in the end" route again at least let me join the bad guys side.

Just Cause is awesome, so if Far Cry tries to be more like Just Cause, I'd be happy.

RDR2 was shit, but so long as it's just the camp, and they don't decide to take the camp away 2/3rds of the way through the game BECAUSE HAHA YOU COOF, then I might be OK with that too.

The whole "dictatorships are actually good" thing is mandatory in China, so you have to expect it in Current Year. And while the Far Cry plot has always been more than a little goofy, I'd be willing to watch Gus Fring in anything, no matter how stupid. Plus, re: a third person camera - while I'd stick to FPS myself, if they're gonna make me play as a female character, then third person lets me look at her butt.

I am cautiously optimistic.
