Were they? The game literally ends with the apocalypse just like Joseph said God told him would happen.
That's why I said "supposed to be", that's what makes the story interesting and surprisingly based, but the Seeds methods are... questionable to say the least and they nevertheless act as the game's antagonists as you're playing it, so I'm just saying that just because negative words come out of one of the Seeds mouth doesn't necessarily means it's what the developers think.

You're being very optimistic and/or naïve to think modern game developers put any nuance into their art. We're talking about a director who began to question the end of the world right around the time Trump came to prominence, a man who flat out says you're supposed to start believing the Seeds are correct. The fact that one of the key villains asks how you can question the end of the world when "that guy" is in charge should have been the dead giveaway.

This isn't even getting into how they've flat out said that people took "the wrong message" from the game and denounced the right using music from the game as a rallying call.

I don't understand how anyone can point out that the Seed's "weren't really the bad guys" without realizing that means that you and all the good ol' country boys you were fighting alongside with were the bad guys.

the outrage at the FC5 twist was justified because of what people here were saying. ubisoft can't stop tripping over their cock with their plots, but it should have been clear to the developers who were clearly uncomfortable making it that it wasn't going to get a good reception. imagine ubisoft making a game like Watch Dogs 1 today, a white guy killing nigs in chicago who work with the nig politicans to cover up pedo rings, and the only ones willing to help him are a redneck and 4chan. even AC Creed is rather suspect, a lot of the targets apparently in unity especially were pro-semetic, plus the distrust of corporations, media, and government really looks harsher in hindsight. them specifically calling glen greenwald and edward snowden assassins members really puts the creed on the wrong side of modern day politics too.

Having said that, "i'm the bad guy all along" was a trend in a good bit of media after everyone humped spec ops:the line for doing it a decade ago. so the idea was clearly going to pop up somewhere in a Far cry plot. hell a variant of it pops up in AC3, the difference being you could see the protagonist express regret, we already knew how the plot would end, and the father-son relationship plays into it too.

It's one of Ubisoft's biggest franchises, so you'll most likely be able to pick it up for $40-50 a week after release, like usual.
Wait six months, you'll find it for $30-$40 maybe. WITH DLC.
uplay key from a keysite - can even be an official store like gamesplanet - are usually cheaper at launch. heck uplay itself gives you a 20% voucher for almost everything just for playing their games (how about that timmy? oh wait even the fucking baguettes managed to implement a shopping cart before you).

Anyone get it early?

I'm already seeing people posting videos. Easter Egg Hunter already has a fucking Easter Egg video out FFS.

No, I play on PC like an adult.

I have seen a ton of faggot game reviewers already bitching that Far Cry sequel plays like a Far Cry game, though. What a fucking surprise!

How exactly do these people propose Far Cry should change? I could get behind better AI or other QOL stuff.

If it's something on the level of nu Saints Row or Paper Mario, they can kiss my ass.

Anyway, got a backlog to go through, but I'll pick the game up sooner or later.

I assume the same way Assassins Creed did. Turn it into some shitty psuedo RPG.

Either that, or they want it to become yet another looter shooter.

New Dawn tried something like that and it turned the combat into shit. Every enemy was spongy as hell (boss fights are 10 minutes of you running around shooting a guy until he drops dead) and most weapons lost all their impact.

Haven't played any of the new AC games ever since Unity, but I hear nothing but mixed things about the latest trilogy, especially Valhalla. It's so far gone from the original "stealthy" assassin gameplay from the old ones that its basically a new franchise.

I skipped New Dawn specifically because of the RPG health mechanic. It was my number one worry for FC6 but from what I hear it's back to just armored enemies and such.
