Does Yoshizilla-Rhedosaurus count? He doesn't take himself too seriously, but does write fanfiction "horrors" unironically.
 
Nobody's mentioned Jussonic yet? i think he's probably the most infamous of all shitty cartoon crossover writers since he's the one that began the whole "Plagiarism fics/fanmakes" that are so common to find nowadays. I know he's been on Deviantart, FF.Net and Archive of Our Own as of now (though his FF-Net doesn't exist anymore due to people deleting his fics for all the copyright infringement they went through). He even has his own TVTropes page.

Well, if he is producing those unironically there's no way he isn't a cow on some level, because god damn it's a lot of content. It's the literary equivalent of those deviantArt users who have galleries full of nothing but cartoon characters in diapers.

Oh god, this guy... I've also heard he stole another person's MLP Mary-Sue to shove into his fanmakes.

He has a bunch of his own Mary Sues too. He'd insert them in every fanmake he'd make and make them and their own plotlines have a lot of screen time when compared to the canon characters. I once told him his Sues sucked and he sperged the fuck out over it.

I also remember when he tried to "fanmake" films with a PG-13 rating he'd try to make it more "edgy" over the original films by adding lots of swear words and having the villains try to rape every female character that appeared (and these things weren't even in the original films!). Considering the female characters were "played" often by children's cartoon princesses it was pretty disturbing and creepy.

The true hallmark of terrible fanfiction is when the author inserts themselves into the story. Oh sure, there are plenty of ways for fanfics to be horrible in other ways, but the self-insert is a sure-fire way to make any sane person cringe.

For me, the most cringe inducing examples I've personally seen (and no I don't remember who wrote these, go find them yourselves if you absolutely have to read these paragons of literature) Is a fic about Ed,Edd,n Eddy. I have NO idea why this cartoon gets so much fanfiction. I mean it was a funny cartoon, but the devotion to these characters is beyond me.

Anyway, the fic in question features a grown up (by grown up I mean 16 year old Eddy) who is dating Nazz, but in this story he goes on a camping trip and lo and behold, he meets a girl from his past who he totally had the hots for and now she is drop dead sexy and even has tattoos. [*SIREN NOISE BLARING* ALERT! ALERT! INCOMING SELF-INSERTION AUTHOR CHARACTER!] And, you guessed it, the two have sex that night in her tent. And of course, the story does everything it can to justify Eddy cheating on his girlfriend with this girl (*cough* author) so as not to make him unsympathetic

The second example I remember is about Duran Duran. Yes...the band...from the 80's. Well in this fic, the band is super famous, yet they can still hang around town without being mobbed by fans or paparazzi. I forget the city they were in, but that's not important. Anyway, the band is also inexplicably BFFs with this girl who is...a nobody. She's got nothing going on in her life except "I'm friends with Duran Duran". Guess who? Could it be the Author? Anyway, the fic deals with the fact that ALL OF THE BAND MEMBERS have homosexual fantasies and explore it by having sex with each other. Yeah... Oh, but wouldn't ya know it? Lead singer Simon Le Bon, despite only seeming to think about gay sex, decides one night that he wants to have sex with a woman (nevermind that he's married in real life. Such details are not important!) and not just any woman. No, the only woman he wants is....the Author--I mean best friend.

Yeah...maybe this is just a gross generalization, but in my opinion, ANY fanfic that focuses on sex, is shit. I am willing to concede there might be a fanfic out there that is a really well written story and maybe there's like one sex scene in there that is done tastefully and actually doesn't detract from the plot. But I sure as shit haven't seen it
 
Ooh, I just recalled some of my least favorites: Character X Reader fics. These pop up everywhere you look and I swear it's the laziest thing ever. It's just self-insert, nothing more and nothing less. The self-insert stand-in for the author is often pretty Sue-ish and of course the crush character is completely pussified and turned way out of character so that he's "so romantic uwu".

I wouldn't be surprised to see the SJW/fanfic authors see it as an "empowering" way of writing though.

Oh, they do. There's a post on Tumblr with a ton of notes talking about how Mary Sues and Reader Inserts are empowering for women. I am dead serious.

Also if you go into the Undertale tag on AO3, you'll see that there's an insane amount of Sans/Reader fics. They want to fuck the skeleton.

I mean...Really!? I guess you can say something for Mary Sues but really, Readers? They don't have any character or personality of their own it's just a stand in for these girls' masturbatory fantasies...

I think my new icon is an apt reaction to this.
