Apple has shut down Facebook’s ability to distribute internal iOS apps, from early releases of the Facebook app to basic tools like a lunch menu. A person familiar with the situation tells The Verge that early versions of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and other pre-release “dogfood” (beta) apps have stopped working, as have other employee apps, like one for transportation. Facebook is treating this as a critical problem internally, we’re told, as the affected apps simply don’t launch on employees’ phones anymore.

The shutdown comes in response to news that Facebook has been using Apple’s program for internal app distribution to track teenage customers with a “research” app.

That app, revealed yesterday by TechCrunch, was distributed outside of the App Store using Apple’s enterprise program, which allows developers to use special certificates to install more powerful apps onto iPhones. Those apps are only supposed to be used by a company’s employees, however, and Facebook had been distributing its tracking app to customers. Facebook later said it would shut down the app.

This poses a huge issue for Facebook. While Apple provides other tools a company can use to install apps internally, Apple’s enterprise program is the main solution for widely distributing internal apps and services. In an email, a Facebook spokesperson said “I can confirm that this affects our internal apps.”

In a statement given to Recode, Apple said that Facebook was in “clear breach of their agreement with Apple.” Any developer that breaches that agreement, Apple said, has their distribution certificates revoked, “which is what we did in this case to protect our users and their data.” Apple declined to comment on shutting down all of Facebook’s internal apps in an email to The Verge.

Revoking a certificate not only stops apps from being distributed on iOS, but it also stops apps from working. And because internal apps by the same organization or developer may be connected to a single certificate, it can lead to immense headaches like the one Facebook now finds itself in where a multitude of internal apps have been shut down.

Apple and Facebook have already been bickering over privacy, but this is the first instance of Apple taking an action that directly shuts down some of Facebook’s activities. Last March, Apple CEO Tim Cook criticized Facebook’s handling of the Cambridge Analytica data sharing scandal, saying, “I wouldn’t be in this situation” if he were running the company. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg later said the comments were “extremely glib” and spoke of Apple as a company that “work hard to charge you more.”

And then it’s gonna lead to a whole different issue when people realize that significant chunks of the far right don’t actually give a fuck about free speech as an ideal, they just wanna be able to bitch about minorities consequence-free
Considering how much the far left 1) doesn't care about free speech and 2) shits all over white people without consequence, this sounds like they want to be treated equally.

Those monsters.

Seriously though, How long do people who never experienced something get to use it as a social cudgel? Can I go set bombs off in England because I have Irish ancestors?

When does it stop? juneteenth was fucking 153 years ago. Yes, you need to teach that it happened, but people want to pretend it was yesterday.

Idk. All of this is just exceptional from tip to bottom. They deviated so much from the original civil rights message is just sad sigh

First of all the ethnostate question wasn’t for you. I posted in the same post to prevent multi post spam.
Second never said facebook shouldn’t ban black surpremist. I’ve actually quite literally said banned then all or let them all go in this very thread.
Third of all never even hinted at wanted an ethnostate.

TL:dr your an exceptional individual and you don’t even know the position of the person your arguing with :story:
That's OK, I was just throwing your condescending crap back with the arguments swapped. I don't care if what you posted was directed to me or what. Facebook said facebook won't ban black supremicists, and lots of people in this thread seem to agree with that. See constant talk about evil things done by people who had white skin to people who had black skin 100 years ago.

Just because I'm retarded doesn't mean you're not. Also, you used the wrong you're, so I win automatically :P.

Here are more examples of the "Master Race" that would be thankfully banned from this new action:

709836

709837

709841

709844

709850

Honestly all of them are sad degenerates or sexual deviants. Banning disgusting lower class filth and vile sexual scum like this from facebook does real worthwhile white people a service. Really if I could get facebook to ban everyone from their site and shut it down, I would. My only consideration against it would be to have a place to contain boomers on the internet or keep up other racial supremacy groups, besides white, to collect content. Facebook is also really good for finding peoples relatives and animals to dox.

Racism didn’t end 100 years ago lmfao
Well obviously not dummy, but slavery ended over 100 years ago. Or is this where you go "Hahahaah, gotcha, nobody was talking about slavery, this reveals your TRUE thoughts about black people!"

Yeah, I mean, Sarah Jeong was talking about how much white people suck just last year, right? So obviously there's still racism.

EDIT: Damn it, ninjad by someone who did it better and funnier.

We live in an era where slavery is at it's peak. It's never been so prominent in the history of mankind as it is right now. It has been eradicated in white man's countries, but it's alive and well in many third world shitholes.

You would not believe the amount of people, including American educators, who earnestly believe that slavery has been eradicated since the 13th Amendment.

That's OK, I was just throwing your condescending crap back with the arguments swapped.
yeah right LOL you tried it but you quickly realized how exceptional your ass were being and now your saying I was pretending :story:.

Edit: fuck phones

Twitter CEO admits they restrict account reach - https://www.engadget.com/2018/09/05/twitter-shadow-banning-bug-accounts-jack-dorsey/

Youtube restricted PragerU - https://www.foxnews.com/tech/prageru-files-new-lawsuit-against-google-in-youtube-censorship-row

Whether you agree with any of the opinions expressed by PragerU or ZeroHedge (I take almost an opinion with a grain of salt, at minimum, regardless of source), people warned about the shadow banning a while back, and when it got too noticeable, they changed how they were doing it. If it was a matter of providing tools to the users to allow them to "curate their feeds" (pretty much Jack's own words from the JRE ep with Tim Pool mercilessly sodomizing him and his corporate laywer), that'd be entirely different.

But they're not, they're designing algorithms to alter what's shown, well before most people have the option of making a decision about whether they want it on their feed or not.

Yes, remember that the SPLC thinks things like pepe, and the okay hand sign, are White Supremacist. Some people think Trump is a symbol of White Nationalism, even if he says specifically helping ALL Americans. If you are saying you are cracking down on White Supremacy with such little data to support this theory they are some huge problem. Then it just seems like it's more like it's about policing the "wrong" political opinions. Today, people are often called Nazi just for being against illegal immigration.

Ben Shapiro gets called alt-right and a nazi regularly, despite both of those groups being pretty fond of conspiracy theories about Zionism, and Shapiro being both Jewish and not a Trump supporter, so that should tell us everything we need to know about how over- and misused those epithets really are.

I think the point is more "you should ban none."

But don't let me get in the way of this autistic back-and-forth snarky baiting game y'all have going on in the thread.
I agree with your sentiment, but that's not what is actually being argued in the first place hence the response made in regards to said argument going on.
