On one hand, it's kind of sad that Warner is still a whole decade behind trying to set up their own cinematic universe even during the twilight of the superhero era, but on the other, they thought that buying puff pieces for a film with a ridiculous story about a character played by a person nobody liked would recoup their losses.

The theories are the next big thing will be movie adaptations of video games, because it's a huge market with plenty of IPs, especially on the back of the relative success of Super Mario and Sonic. The big studios are probably going to take a while to disentangle themselves from their superhero franchises, so hopefully some new people can get a start.

So how much of the budget for this shitfest of a movie do we think went to paying for a PR crisis team? I'm feeling they easily could have spent up to 10 million trying to bury and spin shit, managing a dumpster fire like Ezra can't be cheap.

We'll never know. I don't know if I said it before but the budget fluctuates depending on the levels of Hollywood Accounting going on. Sometimes the marketing money is part of the budget and sometimes it isn't. It depends on how the assholes spin it but I could imagine that considering Ezra's victims all came from lower class backgrounds that it didn't take much to keep them quiet. I imagine it would be like that Seinfeld episode where Kramer burns himself with coffee, sues the company, and says yes to the very first offer.

Considering how obsessed WBD was with getting The Flash out, I wouldn't be surprised if they funded any out-of-court settlements and paid for Ezra's legal fees. Hope the $200 million+ loss was worth it.

As a comparison Sound of Freedom, the $15mil budget glorified indie film the lugenpresse are currently losing their absolute shit over, is currently averaging ~$2000 per theater (and is hilariously now in ~25% more theaters than when it debuted). These will likely be the last numbers for The Flash as it's getting a streaming release on Tuesday meaning it's current worldwide box office of $264mil is basically it.

At $89/theater that's less than 9 people showing up per day to watch it. Honestly though at this point (and from my own observation a few weeks back that nobody was buying tickets for the single showing per day on its second weekend) i'm wondering if many of the tickets sold online are charged to "D. ZASLAV" and/or "E. MILLER" in a attempt to keep the film in cinemas.
