Wow, I was not expecting that many chimp outs from the mods themselves in that "canonlgbtcharacteroftheday" tumblr. I should've prepared popcorn. Maybe I'm too naive, but at first they didn't seem all that SJW-y. Thought they were doing kind of a "fuck you lol" to all the ridiculous "every character is trans/ace/autistic" blogs. But man, do they get pissy if someone's trying to argue a character is gay/lesbian instead of bisexual. Don't know if this is the right thread for all that exactly, but I'm tempted to gather those up for laughs tomorrow when I have more time.

Or, if I decide on a better thread, I'll edit in a link.

Anyway, ridiculously insecure lesbians/bisexuals/trannies with anger issues trying to desperately live through fictional characters... what's not to love.
 
i mean to be fair canon lgbt doesnt post any characters like most other x of the day blogs, only confirmed ones.

personally i think the people who get offended their "precious gayby" liking the opposite sex are funnier than someone backing up their claims, even if its in stupid long arguments.

Right, which is why I thought they were... at least somewhat reasonable. I don't care if they want to run a blog that highlights lgbtabcd characters.

And to be fair, there's a lot of salt there from people going full militant gold star lesbian on that blog for calling female characters bi instead of gay. Its funny too. But the thing is... pretty much everyone who doesn't agree with them on their interpretations is a biphobe.

A person comes along offering their wall of text as to why a certain character could be a lesbian, not bi, and the mods go "look we get it, you hate bisexuals, thx bye". Even deeper into the blog they started crying harassment over someone politely replying to them from a different account, because they blocked their other one over a similar disagreement.

There was also a bitch fight with someone claiming they were being rape apologists for posting a character from a Yaoi game (with rape content). There's a surprising amount of salt on such a seemingly progressive lgbt friendly blog. But then again, we all know tumblrites like to cannibalize their own.

Anyway, check the "discourse" hashtag if you want to, I'll only dig that shit up myself if anyone's particularly interested.

Checked out that blog and it is wild.
There are certainly characters who explicitly state their sexuality, or it's explicitly stated by the author when people ask. But for a lot of them you don't know. Why for some characters does it say 'bi', some it says 'pan', and some it says 'bi/pan'? What's their metric of determining the differences there? And for one character it says 'lesbian/bisexual'. This blog also has way more bisexual female characters than lesbian characters...but way more gay male characters than bisexual male characters. Hmm.
 
I checked that blog out a while ago. Gave up when they called a child character a canon lesbian for playing house with another girl.
 
ive been checking out their blog for a while and people have asked about the bi/pan thing and its because theres nothing really seperating bi vs pan except name preference. lesbian/bi is probably because the character likes girls but might be open to dudes might not be. idk why not just use likes girls but whatever.

and considering all the drama they get i don't blame them for being snappy or dismissive. especially when its usually the same argument over and over.
