There are different fields of mental health professionals, mostly differing by what kind of treatment they can prescribe. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can give you medication as they judge fit. I think there are degrees of licensure/certification that affect what kind of drugs a professional can prescribe. Other types of therapists don't have the medical background to give any drugs, but they'll specialize in other things like cbt.I thought those were psychologists, and those who dealt with disorders and meds were psychiatrists.
Psychiatrists actually have to go to med school, and psychologists don't.
