EVE Frontier has a free trial time running from 27th June to 7th July. https://evefrontier.com
https://youtube.com/watch?v=gROXfd9GbJILooks cool, I like the aesthetic, the menu layout and fonts, but I never really play EVE due to how grindy it looks. I necroposted because maybe some farmers wants to try out this crypto project video game before it costs money.

If I need a +1 h tutorial to get the basics and a spreadsheet software to play the game, it's not a game...
EVE Frontier is a blockchain game, aka NFT. Nearly universally disowned by majority of EVE playerbase. From what I gathered, consecutive betas get less and less players, so like most ccp projects, this one might already be in death spiral.

Honestly, I only tried it because it looked sleek. As I mentioned, the UI and the space graphic stuff looks dope. But again, not my type of game. I already think and plan shit IRL, last thing I want to do is to plan logistics even more in a video game. What really took me by surprise is that it costs $40 minimum. It's 2025 and it's an MMO... that is not F2P!? Just that part makes me think it's dead on arrival. People will just stick with the classic one and not bother.

Since I already sound like a retarded zoomer who wants a quick dopamin brainrot game, it would be cool if a game that looks like this had the option to explore ships or planets on foot. Hellpoint has similar aesthetics so if they could be merged it would be really cool.

Thing is the Frontier is already supposed to be a zoomie game, with resets in style of Rust. Its not a permanent universe, it gets wiped every month, I believe.

I thought it was aimed for the hardcore EVE online players. If it's for zoomers: a subscription model and not F2P the game will not take off.

There have been so many CCP projects that never took off. And all of them because of Hilmars ego. He just cannot let it go that none of his projects took off and were always in shadow of EVE. Each project is the next big hit.
I hope Tencent buys the company and fires this ginger loser.

I just looked into Dust 514 and EVE: Valkyrie (from wikipedia) and I can see they have already experimented with alternative game genres. I honestly think, from a franchise perspective they should do it again (they ard with Vanguard), but as it sounds from you and wikipedia, it might already be dead.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm just too cheap to pay for an online game, but these types of games needs to be F2P. There are just so many free games out there and their player base size doesn't appeal people who really want a MMO.

The unique problem with EVE is that there are players who started playing in the closed beta in 2003, and are STILL playing. Those people have amassed assets in values above trillions. If you tell them that this everything goes bye bye, they will just quit. You can't reset EVE without a massive shift in its population, culture and perhaps future. Many players are kept by history and time they spent, if that is gone, they'll be gone too.
Ironically eve is f2p. My corporation has many f2p players who can kick my ass whenever. Thankfully I'm not doing any fighting, I'm just doing industry. Yes I do have spreadsheets.

Even most of the stuff they implement in EVE doesn't really take off. Dust was supposed to integrate with PI, they never did that, PI itself was more or less abandoned.

EVE is such an odd game to me because players just make their own fun despite the game fighting them every step of the way. We bored? Let's pop some filaments and go yell at the Chinese.

dust was f2p iirc, valkyrie was a standalone game without any live service parts from what I remember so b2p was ok. checked out of curiosity and it was multiplayer first? don't even remember it, or maybe because I've stuck to the tutorial or played with bots or something.
still, I do remember it was quite impressive flying around all the ships you knew in VR. they should've just disabled the multiplayer, put it on sale for 5 bucks (or even free) and keep selling it for the fans.

and like @Froggy Fresh Sextape said it dust never really integrated, maybe because eve players don't wanna play/depend on fps gamers if I remember some of the drama back then right. so it inevitably just became the "f2p shooter with eve branding" which means nothing to most normalfag players.

>1 hr tutorial
literally takes years
nowhere near 1 hr

Highsec is excluded from this year's Crimson Harvest. Shame, we used to get some really good freighter KMs.

I came back to the game after a long time and I'm disappointed to see how big of a cesspool of RMT and botting it has become. There's probably hundreds (because of account sharing) of third worlders that support themselves because of this game.

I'm posting this just in time to hear about a new, nothing-burger expansion. Just like the last two.

On a more positive note, there's definitely a lot more people putting themselves out there, this video blew my mind.

Krig is an excellent suspect baiter, and very nice to actually talk to. Come hang out in Why Was I Ganked?, Sargon will probably tell you all about his new scheme of sitting cloaked at the new event sites to spawn tonnes of rats which instantly kill other ships coming in to do the site. Then he loots the wrecks.

I appreciate the invitation, but I don't hang out in hi-sec. It's good to hear that griefing is alive and well.
I did this kind of stuff long time ago, but I haven't gotten back into it, since everything's probably overfished these days.

Here's an old video I enjoy, it has the reactions included in the recording:

To each their own. Just a few hours ago a miner treated us to a two hour rant, including RL death threats.
…over losing a 500k ISK venture.

Haven't had the urge to play this since The Mittani was forced out of Goonswarm after the trannies took it over and he refused to clap over how stunning and brave they were. Over a tranny in the fucking Penny Arcade pity corporation, at that. How is the new mining update? I'm not super interested in going back to re-join Nullsec shit (I'm autistic but not THAT autistic) but the idea of floating around breaking space rocks and making ships out of the metals was always appealing.

Nah, that's not what happened. I used to be a goon back in the days, and it was very much a case of "don't let them know you're a woman", a lot of creeps in high positions. Not to mention Xenuria, who was an outright paedo. I did vote him for CSM, of course, but that was just to inflict him on CCP for two weeks a year.
How is the new mining update?
Not out yet, it releases on Tuesday. It looks pretty bad, mining will still be dead boring. They're adding an interim ship between the venture and the barges, which is kind of unnecessary for everyone but the F2P bots, but the tech 2 version will be a cheap mining booster so I guess that at least has some purpose.
Also giving us a silly good SoE battlecruiser, with covops, of course. SoE LP value is through the roof.

Industrialist playstyle sounds appealing until you actually play EVE and realise it's a matter of running eight clients in the background while you watch anime on your second monitor. As long as you've got an alarm set up to beep when someone not blue pops into local you only have to actually pay attention to the client every five minutes or so, it's extremely dull.

Did they finally add an alarm system? That was my major problem doing shit in Nullsec, ratting or what have you for an hour or more and having to watch that fucking spreadsheet of local users like a hawk just in case some red dots appeared.
