The joke always was EvE is space Excel.
Because they don't know any better, and they're better off for it. Still lol at that extension.

Jesus Christ, I'm so glad I never got into EvE
You don't need excel or any 3rd party app to truly play and enjoy the game. however eve-o preview is far more useful than alt-tabbing if you multibox. I might be biased as I've played eve since it's release basically, but it's the best mmo-rpg imo. There's nothing that can compare to the combat and meta gaming. You only need excel if you want to play the most boring part of the game, the market. You can get rich extremely fast and pay for your accounts easily without having to spend a penny, and fund your pvp activities indefinitely. You can make a free account and pay off a month of subscription time within an hour.

I've never played a game that even comes close to the rush of small gang/solo pvp. Being a spai is even more rewarding.

I literally thought the "Excel plug-in for Eve" announcement was a joke.
I still have my 40+ spreadsheet tracking things kicking around somewhere.

I made a REAL popular one for exploiting the fuck out of Loyalty Points . Showed the best arbitrage to isk/hr value for farming LP.
There was a time that made more than WHs

anyway

thanks for the update. Glad I kicked that to the curb.

Players have been asking for a Fedo plushie for years so this isn't a big surprise. I think the Rifter USB hub in the 10th anniversary collector's edition was better though.
They should start listing more of what else is included soon if they want this to sell.

Per this news post right now 25 PLEX can be claimed in game on all existing accounts (Alpha or Omega) that have been active within the last 3 years. This is in celebration of the Alliance Tournament which will be livestreamed on Twitch this weekend. The giveaway expires at 23:59 UTC on August 11. If you don't want to use the PLEX to buy game time or cosmetics, selling it on the market would get you around 125 Million ISK per account. Datamining changes to the game client suggests there will be a 10 days of Omega for 10 PLEX promo offer soon, but this hasn't been confirmed yet.

The full contents of the 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition have been revealed:
(archive)

  • Deluxe 8" Megathron Ship Model
  • 6" Fedo Plushie
  • Megathron Art Print by Lloyd George
  • Premium Blueprint Poster
  • The New Eden Soundtrack CD
  • 20th Anniversary Enamel Pin
  • Empire Emblem Pin Set
  • Signed Certificate of Authenticity
Digital Content
  • Exclusive Megathron SKIN designed by T'Amber
  • Two new exclusive SKINS
  • Set of Genolution Implants
  • Five SOCT ships
  • Metamorphosis BPC - run of 3
Due to the cost of shipping, duties and taxes, for anyone who orders the 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, a sum of PLEX will be gifted, based on the total extra cost incurred by the customer. More information here: Collector's Edition - UPDATE

The base price of $175 for all of this isn't bad considering the 3d printed ship model is probably worth around $120 by itself. If you don't want a ship model or don't like the Megathron this doesn't have much appeal. The extra PLEX coming with the Collector's Edition based on shipping and taxes was added recently because this can be over $250 total for some international customers and there was a lot of complaining about the total cost. I don't think this Collector's Edition is going to sell that many copies.

In other merch news a kickstarter page for an official EvE Online board game has been created. There aren't any details so far since it hasn't launched.

FRT won AT. Autists everywhere seething and seeing tuskers last match as a paid throw, when they got pretty much owned, hoping for the best with their own bad ban choices (Zarmazd? Blackbird? Why?) and idiotic doctrine for final match, relying on drones. FRT did their best to throw them off and not offer any obvious targets, and won in the end, with massive DPS from the nighthawks and loki alone. Especially impressive considering they were 2 down.

GG, won me 200 mil.

Figured I'd post this here, Frederik Knudsen posted for the first time in two years with an almost 6 hour episode of "Down the Rabbit Hole" where the whole video is on EVE Online. If you've got the time, I'd highly suggest watching it.

I only got 2 hrs into it.
Too many memories. Way too distracting for 'background' .

It's very complete. I will finish it when the ghosts stop.

That portal spawn camping event where the devs didn't account for healing a wanted ship sounds like such a shitshow. God forbid someone have fun.

The Havoc expansion came out this week. The art team did a good job on the trailer:

To celebrate, they are giving away 7 days of Omega game time, which can be claimed right now in the New Eden Store in game.

Most of the new content is centered around the new pirate faction which is the Angel Cartel and Guristas teaming up. They are operating out of a Jovian station to attack empire faction warfare systems. Player response seems to be mostly positive, and the active player count looks healthy with it regularly going over 30,000 active players.

There is also a new FPS game coming out in December called EVE Vanguard which is connected to the EVE Online universe.

2 months ago during Fanfest, The Escapist put out a making of EVE Online documentary:
This is probably an easier watch than the Down The Rabbit Hole video. It clocks in under an hour and only focuses on the developers retelling how they made the game & their design decisions during the early years.

Fedo are blind, as per that article, why does it have eyes?

Should have brought that sealed launch copy a decade ago...

I am one of those guys who Play EVE online. It is alot like Runescape in space, and have gotten back into it after a long break. I try to keep things as simple as possible though.

I gotta say, I have sank hours a day playing this game, mostly as a solo player but recently have joined a nullsec alliance. I am more of a lone wolf if anything else; mostly running PVE content.

Some interesting tidbits from Early in EVE online's history was Band of Brothers (BOB), at the time they were the largest player alliance of New Eden, that is until an act of theft and sabotage by the Alliance Director destroyed the Alliance for good by Goonswarm Federation.

Here is the Zombie Siege of Yulai, in all it's glory:

The largest battle of EVE online (so far) is the Fury of FWST-8, There is even a scope article on it (an ingame news outlet).

Ironically, the Goons (now part of the Imperium coalition) now find themselves in a similar position to BOB around 10 years ago. with the PanFam coalition (comprising of Fraternity, Pandemic Horde, Northern Coalition, etc...) in a sort of cold war. I will update you as the nullsec situation evolves.

EVE Frontier has a free trial time running from 27th June to 7th July. https://evefrontier.com
Looks cool, I like the aesthetic, the menu layout and fonts, but I never really play EVE due to how grindy it looks. I necroposted because maybe some farmers wants to try out this crypto project video game before it costs money.

If I need a +1 h tutorial to get the basics and a spreadsheet software to play the game, it's not a game...
