"No one would treat a father the way they treated him."
Okay Bob. That's why they called the cops on you when you threatened to kill the mayor over your parents not developing some film for you. A sign of a wholesome son who never treated their parents like dirt or terrified them enough to call the police on you.
I'm confused why if they were treating his father so poorly (enough to warrant taking him to the APS), why he basically just left him there instead of helping him more? His father also had a mental illness and couldn't even read. Put him and Pina together they were probably quite a pair getting into trouble and forgetting important things. The "rent" was likely exactly what Bob was talking about, doing his fair share to pay for the bills. I'm going to guess it was easier to take an average lump sum rather than have to show a confused elderly man every month exactly what his half was repeatedly.
Unfortunately Bob isn't much of a reliable source (as we've seen with documents he's given out) as he omits a lot of information or twists them in his head over the years in his favor. If it's true what was going on with his father, my condolences, but I doubt that's remotely what happened. As
@Durable Mike Malloy pointed out, he focuses on a single point and misses the big picture regularly.
We got a Part 2: Fried Bacon Boogaloo.
He get's a little teary eyed in this one, talking about the potential that his father disowned him. I think he was sincere right there. He admits his father didn't always like what he did and sometimes they didn't chat, but he would come around again and talk. Unfortunately he ruins it again not long after. Apparently the daughters had a wedding to trick Bob's father into thinking he was married to Pina? Out of nowhere he starts talking about how churches are suffering financially. From what I gather he went to a new church looking for assistance and got turned down.. but then said he wouldn't change churches just to get money and assistance. The exact thing he did.
