Absolutely, it just adds on to the shame because the degradation looks even more stark in comparison. Like it's horrifying for anyone to go through Alzheimer's, but it seems even more harsh when it attacks an imagination like Terry Pratchett's.

I wouldn’t be surprised if her teeth started falling out. She’s so vitamin deficient, and dehydrated, she can’t even keep her gums moist. Her bones must be so brittle, I hope she doesn’t go on the rides at Disney. She could fracture her sternum with a hard stop. CPS should have stepped in years ago, her mother should be in jail for profiting from her daughter dying on camera. If my kid was this sick, Disney would be the last thing on my mind.

It kind of makes me wonder if anorexics ever live long enough in this condition to have gum recession down to the roots or start losing teeth, as you said. It seems like this kind of damage takes several years and I don't think I've seen anyone Eugenia's size make it past 35

Y'all want "someone to do something" because a grown woman has decided she'd rather die than eat, but what's that "something" supposed to be? A nose hose? Forcing anorexics to eat doesn't actually work. They know full well not eating will kill them, and have decided to not eat. Adults are allowed to make their own terrible decisions.

It's definitely a tricky subject. The lower in weight an anorexic gets, the worse the dysmorphia, rigidity, and general ability to recognise how insane and dangerous their actions have become gets. Their brain is mush at the point Eugenia is at. There are a lot of cases of dangerously low weight anorexics getting enough nutrition to unfuck their brain enough to pursue real recovery.

However, I don't think Eugenia has ever not been underweight. She strikes me as having been one of those 'naturally thin' kids who then developed the ED at some point in time. Even when she gained weight in inpatient back in 2019, there's no way she actually got above 18.5 BMI. 15 or 16 maybe. Hard to know since she covered herself so much, and fat tends to go to her face which can obscure things. If she doesn't know what it's like to have a non-starved brain, she doesn't even know what she's missing, so to her--what's the point in recovering?

Tbh, I do err on the side of letting adults make these decisions for themselves, but Eugenia hasn't even been in treatment enough to be labelled treatment-resistant. It's actually quite odd and rare to see a severe anorexic who has dodged any sort of treatment as much as she has.

I will say the hand-wringing can get annoying, but understandable.

I don't know of any recovered anorexics who have as limited a social network as Eugenia's, or one that cares as little as hers seems to. She doesn't appear to have close irl friendships, has never dated, and has no strong social bonds except her immediate family. You can look at her brother and see how little their parents are capable of helping their kids live healthy and successful lives. It's not normal for an American family to have two adult kids over 30 living at home, both with severe eating disorders, and neither seeming to have any prospects (or desire) of living independently or having a family of their own. Her environment is clearly a major contributing factor to her mental illness, and we have no idea what kind of person she would be and what she would be capable of if not for it. At this point we'll never know.

Edit: It's still possible for someone raised in that type of environment to recognize how it's affecting them, leave, and build their own life from the ground up. Some people are survivors. Eugenia just doesn't have it in her, so she's chosen to drown rather than swim against the current.

Do we have an estimate of her current weight and bmi and former weight and bmi from those original photos? Some where she had her hair curled looked like a beautiful woman and now she looks like a starving girl and often that’s the point of anorexia, to repress sexuality and womanhood, if somebody has been sexually assaulted at a young age.

She was friends with Jaclyn Glenn, but she and two of Eugenia's other friends are the ones that got her 5150'd so she isnt friends with them anymore. She acted like them caring enough about her to get her medical treatment was a betrayal. Now she's besties with Jeffree star, and thats kind of it, and he certainly doesnt care about her medical condition beyond her appearing on his tiktok streams keeping him from becoming irrelevant
 
Btw, has Eugenia been crowned as the new Lich Queen? May her reign be long and skeletal.

In all fairness to her, I'm not sure a 5150 was the best way for them to have gone about getting her into treatment. I give them credit for trying, but doing it that way seems to have made her worse in the long run. Then again, I wasn't there and I don't know Eugenia personally. They may have tried other options first and the 5150 as a last resort. I just tend to mistrust internet influencers' judgment because they often err on the side of whatever will cause maximum drama. Even if two of her friends were non internet people, the third one being an internet person makes me doubt if they were collectively capable of acting in her best interest, despite their intentions.

As fucked up as she is and more deliberate competing and showing off her skelliness than she’d like to admit, she doesn’t have the raw malevolence to earn a lich title. A twisted pixie, maybe.
 
Does anyone remember that blonde woman who became internet famous on tumblr for her anorexia? This was like 2014. I never used tumblr but I remember this woman's picture was shared on Instagram and Facebook back then and it was shocking. She might have been even worse than Eugenia at that time.

She went by the name, shemegah? I just remember her legs. Ashley Isaacs level of anorexia.

Shmegeh. She beat up her girlfriend and then went to rehab, and logged off. She updates her Instagram every once in a while. Also, of note, her girlfriend was 15-17 when they were together. She was like 23, well into her mid twenties. Nobody ever talked about how gross that was though, its impressive not one single person pointed it out. I think her girls name was Mena or something.

I followed her closely for years. All the information thats left can be found on lolcow farm on old threads.

She was a stick. I'm surprised she even has the strength to attack someone. But good lord.

She really was worse than Eugenia in some of those dimly lit tumblr pictures. She looked like a concentration camp detainee. I can't believe she survived
