Oh, he would absolutely try to ride off of Pantsu's credit and supposed new job. If Pantsu manages to rent her own place Ralph will be Mr. Romance Daddy and make a run for the border post haste. Yes, he could have chosen to cut her off, but it's not unreasonable that a parent would cross their fingers and try to be supportive once the horse was out of the barn, agreeing or disagreeing with the choices made. Certainly sometimes it's a calculation of whether providing support (financial or otherwise) and crossing your fingers is better or worse than making them learn a very hard lesson. As a parent of young adults (but not anywhere near 25, so still somewhat plausibly dependent), I know my powers of discernment, experience-relating, and wisdom are somewhat limited to advice and counsel when it comes to their choices about romantic liaisons. And as a former young adult with outrageously headstrong tendencies, I know I was going to do what I was going to do. So I'm projecting empathy to a parent trying to figure out the right move when their kid (especially if one with limited, self-selected or otherwise, options) chooses terrible paths. I HOPE my kids have better sense; they've been raised to, but I accept that the best laid plans, etc.

It's a strange thing for Harry to say, but he was implying she wanted to get pregnant asap irregardless of her life circumstances or current partner. Most parents, outside of trailer parks, jails and HUD projects, are very clear about teaching station and status (and spouse) are kind of important if you want to raise kids. You take steps so you can build a life to raise a family. Like, if being mom is your goal then you need to find a stable, mature person that takes that goal seriously so you can safely and securely raise and support the kids you have together.
