I've seen a lot of questions and speculation about what Dick's motives are and why he would be friends with Ralph, and after being a listener of The Dick Show for years I'm confident that I understand what he's doing.
I don't know whether or not Dick really cares about Ralph, but it's fairly obvious to me why Dick acts the way he does. Dick has always said that he'll say whatever needs to be said in order to get what he wants. Whenever the topic of "never apologizing" comes up, he always states that he will apologize because it's not a matter of morals to him, it's a matter of survival, a matter of success in achieving his goals. And what he really wants from interacting with Ralph and all these other weird/insane people on the Internet is content for his show (and his own amusement). Whether it's pumping up Ralph's ego, or referring to Keffals and Chris-Chan by their preferred pronouns, or entertaining Chris the Kiwi's systemic destruction of every female relationship he's ever had, he greases up people that he thinks are interesting and eye-catching because it brings more attention to his podcast.
In the eyes of the people on this site, freedom of speech is the most important freedom there is. Freedom of speech is what allows the site to do what it does, and many people here would fight to the ends of the earth in order to protect it (and have). Well that's not how Dick sees things. From Dick's perspective, the free exchange of wealth for goods and services is the most important freedom there is, the most important form of speech there is. If you don't even have the right to pay someone, what speech do you really have? If your money is worth nothing, what are your words worth? That is what Dick will fight to the ends of the earth for, and has been fighting for with things like New Project 2 and now BackedBy. He doesn't give a shit about what people say or what he says, verbal speech is just a tool to him. It is this ideological difference that has led to the animosity between the people of this site and Dick Masterson, and it is what allows Dick to form connections with all of the autistic, degenerate, psychopaths that he's fraternized with over the years, all the way back to Maddox.
