Energy Official Calls for ‘Queering Nuclear Weapons’

A recent hire at the Biden-Harris Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Administration believes that “queer theory” is crucial to American security, as part of her sprawling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) ideology, Fox News revealed Wednesday.

Sneha Nair, special assistant in the NSA, has written in the past about the intersection between DEI and nuclear security implementation, arguing that “DEI is an important framework for addressing widespread social and political inequities with critical implications for strengthening security at nuclear facilities.” DEI is “essential for strong nuclear security implementation,” she said in a Stimson Center article, adding that “creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive nuclear security culture requires organizations to ensure that DEI is seen as a critical component of security throughout the organization, from the executives to the guard force.”

Nair was formerly a research analyst with the Nuclear Security Program at Stimson, which receives hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding from George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. In a June 2023 opinion article, Nair made the case for “queering nuclear weapons,” imploring policy-makers to “look to LGBTQ+ inclusion for better nuclear policy outcomes, and build environments in which queer people can bring their specific skills and lived experiences to bear without fear.”

“Queer theory is a field of study, closely related to feminist theory, that examines sex- and gender-based norms,” she wrote. “It shines a light on the harm done by nuclear weapons through uranium mining, nuclear tests, and the tax money spent on nuclear weapons ($60 billion annually in the United States) instead of on education, infrastructure, and welfare. The queer lens prioritizes the rights and well-being of people over the abstract idea of national security, and it challenges the mainstream understanding of nuclear weapons—questioning whether they truly deter nuclear war, stabilize geopolitics, and reduce the likelihood of conventional war. Queer theory asks: Who created these ideas? How are they being upheld? Whose interests do they serve? And whose experiences are being excluded?”

The Biden-Harris administration passed an executive order in June 2021 that established “a government-wide initiative to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all parts of the Federal workforce,” one that forced federal agencies to review “whether employees who are members of underserved communities face barriers to employment, promotion, or professional development within their workforce.” DOE now requires grant applicants to list information abouttheir DEI efforts through Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research Plans, in which they must detail their strategies “to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in their research projects.”

The Jeetpill has been crammed down society’s collective maw at incredible speed. We only had the Brahmins and the Apu’s until ~2010 so I grew up thinking they were Brown Fancy Asians.
Now even my lib coworkers have gotten fairly obvious with the distaste for Jeets. “Hardworking Doctors and Store Owners” to “Smelly Brown Jew-Gypsies” in ~15 years across the entire West. Sad!

There’s nothing wrong with a humanities degree. History, classics, the languages, all that stuff is (or was, goodness knows what it’s like now becasue STEM is getting run into the floor and I think they got to the humanities before us…) is incredibly rigorous. I’m not bashing humanities, which are important, I’m just saying that this woman is working in the United States nuclear apparatus with a degree in effectively basket weaving.
Actually no, basket weaving is useful and skilled - she has a degree in utter bollocks.

It’s kind of ironic that just a few decades ago we had things like the lavender scare where it was accepted as fact that anyone with a dodgy private life was an inherent risk to such a sensitive program because they could be compromised, and now we’ve got Sam Brinton celebrated for wanking I to stolen womens clothes.
We are screwed as a society. We need the stem people to be capable of building bridges and machines and we need the humanities people to be capable of assessing the past accurately and both are hopelessly degraded
Spot on. I should clarify though - I don't think the majority of people shuffled on to college for these humanities degrees need them for whatever average joe life they are going to have and as such you're not really getting the intellectual challenge nor the depth of content that you really should.
Get some dignity please. Science is dump too.
It's been ~20 years so maybe it's gotten worse, but at least back in the day there were weed out classes and you couldn't really bullshit your way out of demonstrating content learning. I hope you're just trying to rile me up, but if you're telling me Chem 101 has just become Crash Course videos with the Green Brothers, and a few IFLS click bait, I'd only be a little skeptical.

I hope you're just trying to rile me up
Science is full of corruption, retardation, and evil; excessive deference to it or those involved with it is extremely disgusting. I say this as someone who is totally disillusioned and still pursuing a science degree. SAD and REAL!
