For intellectual honesty, that depends on the synagogue and denomination of Judaism. Reform and Reconstructionist are very easy to convert to, relatively speaking. Conservative and Orthodox are much less so, though a conversion would grant you entrance to Israel as a citizen.

Orthodox conversions are the only ones that produce a Jew under Jewish law. The movements that do not hold by Torah law produce LARPers. (And many of those LARPers go on to realize they’re not doing the real deal and then decide to go for an Orthodox conversion so they can.) That said, while non-Orthodox conversions aren’t acceptable to the rabbinate for sacraments like marriage, they often are for the sake of aliyah (moving to Israel). The politics of the rabbinate’s dynamic with the government is a massive clusterfuck of controversies that they’d need a whole subforum for discussion.

I know many converts and each one has said that they only had a slight idea what they were getting themselves into before they went through that year, even if they thought they were fully informed when they started.

The twist with orthodox conversions is that there are cases where the beit din will rescind the conversion. So it’s not like you can just eat a bunch of bacon and skip services after converting.

But there are cases of non-orthodox jews getting Israeli citizenship but you will need a lot of shekels to pay for lawyers as well as enough of your fellow persons of jewishness to vouch for you. Either way, it isn’t easy to get over there.

Elol or any sex offender’s best bet is to just flee to various countries where anything can be bought, like Belize, rather than Israel.

Attending services is really only a thing for men, and even then it’s an ideal rather than mandatory. Nobody is following converts around to monitor what they eat or even whether they go to minyan.

For converts who want to make aliyah to Israel, there is a requirement to wait a year after your conversion — at which point you have to provide testimonials from your rabbi and other community leaders that attest to you remaining an active member of the community who performs mitzvot.

Unfortunately lots of sincere converts later go astray and fall back into old habits. The number of conversions rescinded is infinitesimal. Converts can pretty much do whatever they want without it affecting their conversion status.

trooning out used to be sort of like jewish conversion. you needed letters from a rabbi therapist and you had to dress, present, and live as a woman for a year to prove your commitment and ability to adapt to life as a "jew" "woman"

even 10 years ago a woman yeeting her teets in texas needed a letter from a shrink. a man with gynocomastia who found his breasts uncomfortable or unwanted only needed a credit card.

these days , anyone can just casually walk into Vaginas R' Us and have one bolted on. honestly surprised we dont have franchises like "Jiffy Vag" in certain states.
