This reminds me that there’s this popular quest mod for Skyrim whose central character is literally just a one-for-one copy of how Ellen Page looked when she was younger, way more than Ellie from TLoU does. But it’s a free game mod so it’s not like anyone is profiting from her appearance.

Oh, I do think that she would not be perfectly safe in there but it has less big money than Pedowood. A famous movie actress has more pull to defend herself in there than a pretty boy extra would. Sometimes, you pick the option you can survive with as opposed to a non-existent perfectly safe option. Like, if you have to go somewhere and your option is either go through a toxic swamp or a forest filled with poisonous snakes, you check your bag. If you have a mask that helps you breath, you pick the swamp and if you have antidotes, you pick the forest. I think that SHE would be safer in theater even if those boys were not.

She would have to had the confidence and talent to make that switch. Success as a pretty young thing actress was a safe bet, success as a director or behind the scenes was a long shot. Also, tbf, it’s very hard to be taken seriously as an attractive young woman in Hollywood, and many other industries, particularly when skill and experience are major considerations.

Directing also requires a strong sense of self and confidence in your decisions/ vision, which Ellen is sorely lacking in.

If a woman finds well-paid success as a model or actress, thanks to being young and attractive, she’s told to milk it for all you can while it lasts (because it never lasts long) and have a plan for what to do next. If they are savvy and smart they use the wealth they accumulated pivot to business ventures, real estate, producing, directing, etc…

Ellen tried to hang on to acting and her pivot was pooning out. She obviously doesn’t have much confidence in doing anything besides acting. Given what we’ve seen of her attempt at being a writer there might be very solid reasons for her lack of confidence - she might not have any hidden skills or talents. Judging from the past decade I’d say she has poor decision making skills which definitely puts her at an extreme disadvantage for any new ventures or career changes.

I think she was attempting to be a “trans activist” but that doesn’t pay well and she isn’t nearly aggressive enough to beat out the men in dresses for what $$$ and positions are available. Not to mention looking like the world’s tiniest, saddest man isn’t great trans propaganda.

Yes but that has less to do with their looks and more to do with the reality that women generally make films that don't make a lot of profit, if any at all.
