Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 11th Democratic presidential debate, on Sunday, is set to look and sound quite different from the previous 10.

To prevent further transmission of the virus, the Democratic National Committee announced Thursday it will hold the debate in Washington, D.C., with no live audience, instead of its original planned location of Arizona, one of four states voting on Tuesday.

The debate is being hosted at 8 p.m. ET by CNN along with CNN en Español, CNN International and Univision, and will take place at CNN studios.

The debate will be moderated by CNN's Dana Bash and Jake Tapper and Univision's Ilia Calderón.

They were originally to be joined by Univision's Jorge Ramos although the network has since announced that he will not to be part of the debate following a potential secondary exposure to the coronavirus.

Which candidates will be there?

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are the remaining two viable contenders for the Democratic nomination and will be the only candidates onstage Sunday night.

This comes following a series of presidential candidates suspending their campaigns in the days before and after the Super Tuesday contests on March

Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is still actively running, though she did not meet the DNC's qualification for the debate. A candidate needs at least 20% of delegates awarded so far to be onstage; Gabbard has earned just two delegates out of nearly 1,800 awarded so far.

Begins at 8 PM EST and ends at 10 PM EST

So in order for Biden to look lucid, he had to go on a one-on-one debate with Bernie.

Bernie couldn't even find it in him to yell at Commie China, after all that the Chinese government has done to literally the rest of the world in recent months. Bernie never says anything remotely positive about America, but he'll bend over backwards to give countries like China and Cuba the benefit of the doubt. Biden took that opportunity and looked sane by comparison when he criticized China for pretty much everything they do. That will definitely appeal to the moderate and Independent voters big time.

The generation of Bernies parents and ancestors that came to America faced repression from the conservative and pseudotheocratic tsarist regime, so would naturally develop more leftist views. Add to that a history of discrimination by northeastern elites against Jews until the 40s and the turbulent Marxist bs of the 60s and you've got the perfect ingredients for socialist thinking.

I don't like Bernie's politics but you have to admire the way he seems to be willing to forgo his last chance for a presidential run by not going after Biden personally. Unlike Cenk Uygur, he knows that if he goes after Biden too hard and Biden still gets the nomination, all his attacks will be clipped into GOP ads when Biden runs against Trump. Cenk meanwhile said that the far left needed someone to go after the corporate Democrats in a Trump-like way. Bernie seems to get the idea that attacking Biden for not being far left enough is OK, attacking him personally is not because GOP ads where Bernie attacks Biden for not being a proper Commie won't damage him. The Democrats don't deserve Bernie, but I guess he's not really a Democrat.

I would say Bernie showing Biden is not a good commie would work against the GOP as it shows a real commie thinks Biden is not the real deal. Then again Bernie is no FDR.

That's what I was trying to say actually. Bernie attacking Biden for being senile = good GOP attack ad. Bernie attacking Biden for not being a true Communist = bad GOP attack ad.

From a perspective of wanting Trump out of office, it makes sense to try to avoid damaging the Democrat nominee as much as possible. Biden may still go on to lose, but it makes that less likely.

Except that if they'd actually gone after each other, you wouldn't have senile, corrupt Biden as the nominee in the first place. They should have let natural selection take its course. That's how you get a candidate who can defeat Trump. Unless I guess you assume that all the candidates are equally crap and it's more important not to damage them than to pick the best one because there isn't a "best" candidate. Which is awfully pessimistic but with this current crop, I concede that case could be made.
